Hope That was worth It.........

Posted by Keith G.

Well, that annoying and incessant self promotion from ESPN is finally over and we can rest peacefully knowing what is truly Titletown, USA. Your winner....Valdosta, Georgia. I'm sure it's a fine place (after all, it Is a City "Without Limits" for some peach cobbler, and I hear they have a sweet high school football tradition...but Valdosta?? Was Odessa, TX busy? Valdosta does earn points for being the hometown of Sonny Shroyer AKA, Enos of Dukes of Hazard fame.

We all know JW's disdain for Valdosta calling them a bunch of cheaters because they hold back their student athletes a year in grade school so they will be a year older upon entering high school. JW also claims they run the same football program at the grade school level as the High School so that these 17 year old freshman can hit the ground running. Wait, I don't think I need to make an argument to anyone that Valdosta was a ridiculous choice.

I mean come on how is Green Bay, New York, Boston, Detroit, not Titletown? Truthfully, I would have thought Green Bay would have been a slam dunk, cause it is known as Titletown, USA. But I guess the fact they have won the most Football titles in the world, (excluding the European term for football cause I don't have any clue on that one...so I guess I better say in the United States). But I would have accepted it if the Bronx, Detroit, or Boston won but I really can't accept Valdosta. When they first nominated it I thought it was just a nice gesture to pump ratings and figured they had to nominate one city from each state in the Union.

Am I wrong for hating ESPN for this? I actually think I am going to make a week long protest of ESPN and watch CNNSI and only read SI.COM this week. What's that.... the Brewers and Cubs play on ESPN tonight.....oh wait my protest begins tomorrow. Please join me in my protest......starting tomorrow. What do you think is Titletown, USA?

Next up for ESPN: which city earns the right to be called Hockeytown, The Big Apple, City of Brotherly Love, and The Steel City.

It was the most ridiculous and annoying segment they've ever done. It was even worse than the "Who's Next" thing which I didn't think was possible. The best protest is to ignore it completely. Green Bay is Titletown, end of story. If anyone brings the ESPN thing up to you, just say, "Huh, what's that?" Don't even acknowlege it with any credibility becasuse it has none.

Speaking of ESPN, check out Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles on the scoreboard page of ESPN.com, under Top performers for the 7/28/08. (I"m taking a breath)
He is obviously a noboby right now but had an awesome game yesturday, 1 HR 1 3B 5 RBI, etc.....I have a point here.......
Look at his picture.

I think that ESPN is getting away from the thing that they do best, SPORTS! They are a sports channel, why do they do this stupid crap!

Yeah, ESPN is getting to be like the Music Television station formerly known as MTV. I can remember when it first came out it played music.

Also, Smokey your right that was an impressive performance from Adam "I'm Not Pacman" Jones last night considering he is blind.

This is ESPN and the MLB right? I mean even the DMV would have said, hey wait we need to retake that last picture it didn't turn out right.

I think they should run a contest to determine who is the "worldwide leader in sports". I nominate the NFL Network.
