I can not wait to see this movie, I am actually going to pay money for this one. If the weather keeps up the way it is going we might all end up at the movies on Friday.

I want the meat, not the appetizer. See it this weekend and shine your light on us bro.

What's wrong with apps. I love 'em. I can eat a whole meal of apps. You ever get the spare ribs at PF Changs? Unbelievable.

P.S. as much as I hate to turn communist in all, JW's previous post was so egregious that we have deleted it..........only because he is so young and stupid and was concentrating on watching a movie rather than thinking about our game Friday.

Anything that detracts from our performance our readiness for games will not be tolerated.......

I am just looking at the weather report and it is saying 50% chance of rain on Friday, being a realist!

Oh yeah.

Batman does seem to be the next coming of this summer's blockbuster hit. Maybe I am not as hip as I once was but I don't see as much anticipation for this Batman as for the one with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

Koko, I would be willing to bet Jack Nicholson as the Joker is one of the most famous characters in movie history.
"Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light??????????

I think that Batman was the only movie I ever stood in line to see and was never more excited about a movie than the original.

I know Heath Ledger really got into this role but can you please expand on the reason you think this Batman will be so much better. Please keep in mind I am not too hip like JW and haven't heard a whole lot about this one....other than the obvious Heath Ledger plot line and the Gotham City Pizza's Domino's is delivering.

I'd be more than happy to expand on my preview Keith.

No doubt about it, the anticipation for the 1989 Batman film was higher but that's becasue it was the first major comic book movie since the first Superman in 1978. So of course the build up was higher after an 11 year lay-off, today we get super-hero movies every year.

Also, Nicholson and Keaton's performances can never be challenged becasue they were perfect for that particular kind of film. Tim Burton has a very specific way he wanted to portray Batman. That movie should have been titled, "Tim Burton's Batman." Because it was truly his own unique vision of the character and his world. The Nicholson Joker was a dark exageration of the commercialized cartoon Joker.

The Joker that Heath Ledger is portraying will be the real comic book character. Sadistic, self-mutalating, knife weilding, pure evil. I was actually hoping this film would be rated R but I know there wasn't much chance since WB would be cutting out a lot of it's audience. Hopefull they will still be able to get away with some really psychotic behavior from the Joker.

Also, don't know if you remember there was a Diet Coke commercial for the 1989 Batman, check it out:

Thanks.....Yeah I think this movie is going to get a lot of hype because the Joker looks like he could steal the movie.

Also, I read a review and apparently the Dark Knight has a very ironic quote in the movie that applies perfectly to the Brett Favre saga (not to change subjects on the thread) but Batman says:

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain,"

Pretty heavy man......

Also, why was Heath Ledger chosen for the role???

Doesn't seem like from what you were describing about the Joker that is exactly in his pantheon of past screen performances (leave out the brokeback jokes now).

It sounds like he did an incredible performance but it just doesn't seem like a likely match for him.......do you think WB was thinking Heath is perfect for this role when they created it.....or was it more like Heath said just give me a shot and I will get into character?

I mean Nicholson was a perfect fit for that Joker.........but if you were to say Batman the Dark Knight has begun filming, starring Heath Ledger at the time most of America would assume he was Batman.

Ironic or genius?

I'm Batman!

One more note about movies that you've stood in a long line for, here's my list:

-Return of the Jedi
-Batman
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Parenthood (parent's choice, but good movie)
-Phantom Menace
-Revenge of the Sith

Actually that quote is said by Aaron Eckhart who plays Harvey Dent. The quote is ironic because Harvey Dent is a great DA that goes on to become Two Face, a famous Batman villain.

This was the role played by Billy D Williams (horrible choice) in the 1989 Batman and by Tommy Lee Jones (good choice but horrible movie) in Batman Forever.

With Heath Ledger, yeah it was a major surprise he was chosen. To be honest I bashed the movie when he got the part. Just like you I could not picture him in that part at all. The biggest reason I did not like the choice was because of who they offered the part to first. Paul Bettany, ironically Ledger's co star in "A Knights Tale" also from "A Beautiful Mind," and "The DaVinci Code" was originally offered the part, but he turned it down.

I was so pissed because not only is he a great actor but physically he is a perfect match for the Joker. I still say he would have been better in the role, but it looks like Ledger is going to surprise everyone.
