With the trade deadline looming with only hours left the Arms race in Major league baseball is heating up. Manny being Manny has finally pissed of Red Sox brass off enough that they are currently contemplating trading him to the Marlins for some prospects that they might be able to send to Pittsburgh for Jason Bay. Wow.....this is unprecedented. This is the Yankees only hope in making the playoffs. I can't remember a team trading arguably one of their most productive players in the middle of a heated playoff race for a considerable downgraded player just to get rid of a malcontent.
Although, I can't blame them because after a while all his shenanigans would piss me off too. They can only say it's Manny being Manny for so long. But I would think they would just play out the year and hope he comes around to help them win another pennant.
Anyways, the Yankees finally make a move to acquire Pudge from the Tigers for set-up man Kyle Farnsworth. With Jorge Posada shutting it down for the year the Yanks are not giving up and rather than dipping into their depleted farm system they pulled the trigger and actually pulled of a sweet deal. Pudge should help out significantly behind the plate for the Yanks, but the loss of a quality set-up man might hurt them down the stretch.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman summed up the risk: "We are robbing Peter to pay Paul so we hope it works out." I love the great use of the cliche.....and was I mistaken or was Girardi getting ready to cry over Farnsworth leaving? I don't think I have ever seen a coach cry over a trade that is suppossedly benefitting his team????
Well, the Angels landed Texiera to bolster their shot at dominating the AL no matter if the Yanks make the playoffs. However, if the Marlins can get Manny for some prospects that could dramatically change the NL. The Mets acquired.......oh wait they haven't done anything. But with Manny in Miami I might be just a bit more worried about the Crew's hold on the wild card......oh wait Manny is going to be hanging in Miami with no chance the Marlins re-sign him......never mind that is another recipe for disaster.
Go Brew Crew........watch them rebound tonight against the Cubbies.

Ok Keith, I'm on to you. You're obviously just trying to get a reaction out of me now with the erroneous "depleted farm system" and "yankees only chance" comments when they have the 5th best farm system and only 1 game out of the wild card.
I will now try to ignore the blatent goating of the Dinger. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! FUCK!
Damn you Keith, Damn you to HELL!
A Brewer's fan should not even be leagally able to utter a bad word about the Yankees. When's the last time that ugly uniformed team made the playoffs? I don't even think I had been generated in my dad's balls yet.
I pray to Darth Vader that the Yanks will meet the "Brew Crew", what gay nickname, in the Series. We will shred you lightsaber style.
First of all....The Brewers is the coolest name in all of baseball. We are the Beermakers proud of Milwaukee's heritage and how many professional sporting teams are named after the art of beermaking and can celebrate drinking beer?
Also, having attended your 30th birthday party I can attest you were in fact alive the last time the crew made the postseason....a world series appearance in 1982......sad but you did ask.
However, this is a what have you done for me lately league and the Brewers have the 2nd best record in the NL and did pull off the best trade of the season by acquiring CC Sabathia.
The Crew is primed and ready to make a deep playoff run...despite their recent hang-up against the Cubs.
The Yanks will struggle just to possibly squeak into the playoffs....which I highly doubt....
because of their depleted farm system.....J/K
Well if being named after the beer making process, a Series appearance in '82 and the second best record in the NL this year are the highest accolades you can roll off for your team, I guess I should have some pitty for you.
Good luck with all that. I'm going to go count all the championships, pennants, and hall of famers the Yankees have just for fun.
Nope, Brewers are losing right now.
