Dealer Error?

Posted by Keith G.

The Cobra Kai were not able to outplay our newly formed Rivals “Bet on Black” as we called their bluff but came up short in the end. We were looking to pull back to .500 after a long awaited rematch that came after we were put on the shelve for over a month because of weather related problems. The Kai jumped out to an early lead and it seemed we had the mojo to come out on top but the game went back and forth and we ended up getting taken out on the river in the final two innings.

Bet on Black was coming off a win in their first game of the night and with sole possession of first place had the hot hand, but we jumped out to a 4-1 lead by some crafty base running by Mad Dog Mike who was out there running the bases and showing us age has no limits as he was stealing bases with the guts of a burglar. Mad Dog also pitched a stellar game on the mound but the wet conditions made it difficult for the infield to handle the ball as Capt. Tucci and his band of roving bandits in the outfield had to carry the weight of our defensive prowess. AC continues his solid play patrolling LF and tracking down shots his way like he does when he spots a lonely lady that catches his eye.

Johnny Blaze did the same manning the “Hot Corner” as he was snagging every ball hit his way like lost quarters he sees on the ground. DonJuan helped maintain his league leading .893% on base percentage as he found his way to first base just like JW finds his way home after a night of slamming pitchers of beer. The smash of the night came from Roundhouse Reegs as Rob smashed a bases clearing double to the fence to give us our biggest lead of the game. However, the cards started to turn on us from there as we were dealt some horrible hands from the ump after some bad calls starting with, but not ending with Capt. Tucci’s obvious single he easily legged out. Our other crafty veteran “E” the Swami tried to play his best poker hand and get in Blue’s head but it was not working for us Friday night. Softball is like a poker game E said at the post game press conference. “Nobody wants to quit when he's losing; nobody wants you to quit when you're ahead” but we ran out of innings.

We made a later rally to pull within 2 runs but again it proved too little too late for us as the cards didn’t fall in our favor late in the game. “Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way softball is and we are going to use this as a tool to win our next two game this Friday night, and I guarantee that” said Mikey Lemieux after the game. Leave it to the Boston kid to put the pressure on the Kai’s to come through with guaranteed victories this week but maybe that’s just the spark the team needs to get back our winning way.

After the game Koko started an aw inspiring team cheer inspired by his Al Bundy affliction that will surely push the team to be well prepared for our next victim this Friday night. The team blew off their steam in the best way we can……drinking lots of beer. We arrived at gators with a reckless abandon and broke our own team record of 33 pitchers by 4 pitchers setting our new high with 37 . The team got a lil rowdy and there are some unruly pictures that surfaced on TMZ.Com but Capt. Tucci simply said “Boys will be Boys” we did what we had to do and now were refocused for our next game. The lady Kai’s were out in record numbers and continue to support the team through their longest win dry spell. “You win a few, you lose a few. Some get rained out. But you got to dress for all of them and we get to go to gators after so it’s a win-win for us” Lady Kai Team spokesperson Jenny said after the game.

Well, the team looks forward to getting back on track this Friday night under the lights as we have our first double header and are looking forward to following through on Mikey’s guarantee for a sweep of the legs and getting back in hunt for another trophy.

Awesome recap there Keith. Love the Al Bundy pic.

Can't wait for the double header. I'm hitting the cages this week, I need redemption at the plate.
