Today is the 16th anniversary of the weirdest day is sports history. What makes this anniversary so special is the parallel it draws with that eerie weekend back in '94.
The NBA Finals is being played, there is a special focus on a golf tournament, and the World Cup is underway.
However those are only minute details to what made June 17, 1994 so surreal.
If you only watch one of the ESPN 30 for 30 films, make sure it's this one.

Pretty amazing that day. I remember sitting on my bed and watching it all unfold on this little tv which obviously underplayed the magnitude of the situation. That 30 for 30 was pretty good, one of the better ones.
I was in my Mom's friends basement in Long Island. We were on a family vacation.
At first I remember being insanley livid that they would interupt the NBA Finals. Then as it went on, I was mesmerized.
Plus it was the setup for the greatest prank phone call of all time . . . Mr. Higgins.
Hmmm....Sounds like a great story....Koko in his Mom's friends basement..tell more.
Also, What is this prnak call you refer to?
I am happy you are on the 30 for 30bandwagon...I can't wait to watch tonight.
This guy called up Peter Jennings live while they were watching OJ's car parked at his house. He claimed to be a Mr. Higgins that lived next store. He said he could see over the bushes that OJ looked scared. Of course the entire time the guy is talking in an insanley over the top black voice. He ends the call with "Baba Booey to you all." Then Al Michaels had to come on to let Peter Jennings know that the call was "farsical." Jennings bought the whole thing.
Al Michaels went on Howard's show like a week later and they were all goofing on Jennings.
I watched the 30 for 30 last night as well. What a day. I didn't realize the Rangers were having their parade. I liked the little kid representing Brooklyn baby!!!!
I caught the last 5 mins of the 30 for 30. I didnt realize all those events were happening that day.
I've met OJ a couple years ago at Wazabi in WP with Donavan. I was kinda scared to go up to him. He's a pretty nice guy...then again you have to be if you are an accused killer. Can you imagine if he'd been an ass? My story of him would be like "He was such a dick. I know he killed them." Dude did get away with murder.
Oh, the 30 you need to watch is of the mighty Miami Hurricanes.
