Michael Jackson's Funeral cost Taxpayers $1.4 Million....
I don't know if it is because it is the dog days of sports in late July but here is yet another post about money and politics rather than sports.
According to a recent article the City of LA had to dish out over $1.4 million to help cover expenses associated with Jackson's funeral including security and overtime pay.
Is this a necessary evil or should the estate or even the Staples center helped with the cost. Considering another article debates the Staples Center advertising exposure netted them close to $65 million in advertising exposure......whereas Raymond James Stadium only netted around $37 Mill for the Super Bowl.
IF MJ would have jumped out of the casket and performed Thriller or something to that aspect would that not have been quite possibly the greatest performance ACT of all time.........nothing in the world could have topped it. And only Michael could have gotten away with it......faking your own death just to put on a great show.......How cool would that have been.

Would have been sweet if he pops up in full zombie makeup and everyone started doing the Thriller dance behind him.
And yes the Staple Center should definitely pay for it. Didn't they profit from the whole thing? They didn't put on that whole show pro bono, did they?
I heard an author of an upcoming book about MJ on Howard Stern this morning. This book was already coming out before he died. The author is an investigative reporter that has some pretty good credentials. He did the scientology book as well.
Anyway, he said he set out to nail Jackson on the molestation charges but after all the research he ended up vindicating him. He absolutely stands up for Jackson not being a child molestor in any way. He did say there is strong evidence that he was a gay man. Shocker!
Everyboby else in this country has to pay for their funeral, so should MJ.
Yeah but everybody else doesn't have an arena selling tickets and t-shirts.
I'm not even sure they're talking about the Staples Center event or another funeral where they actually lower the casket. Whatever.
The primary cost of the Jackson funeral was increased security and police personel that had to be added to help with the crowds. The city didn't pay for the video tribute or the light show. You can't tell people that they can't show up for a funeral. Why shouldn't the city pay for it? They benefit from having all those celebrities living there all these years with increased tourism.
Ohhh. and let me say one other thing. There is 1 thing that has prevented us from getting out of this recession and 1 thing only. It is not as complicated as everyone says. The solution comes down to the lending markets. We went drastically from basically giving out loans to anybody who wanted them, to not giving out loans to anybody unless they have 20-30% down, a 700+ credit score, and give up their first born male.
As soon as banks re-evaluate the manner and criteria that they use to give out loans, the country will turn around fast. You can only grow as an economy if people are spending money. If that money is not available, you can't spend. So instead of worrying about everything else and what tax payers money is going towards, we should focus on the problem.
-If businesses can get loans, they can invest in their companies and hire more people. (reducing unemployment)
-If more people are employed, the money used to pay unemployment benefits can be used for other projects. (reducing vital spending cuts)
-If individuals are able to get loans, they will be able to purchase houses on the market, thus allowing people sitting on houses to move to a new neighborhood and buy somebody elses house.
It goes on and on and on. The government has been wasteful forever and that will never change. But not being able to get loans or credit will keep us in the dark ages.
To illustrate how ridiculous this is, my parents were recently turned down for a loan. They have nearly a perfect credit score and over 35 years of history as an on-time bill payor. They were turned down because of some debt to income formula. Even though my dad makes just as much money as ever and they have never been turned down before.
Let's go Obama!! Stop going to fucking baseball games and throwing like a pussy, identify the problem and fix it.
I totally agree , pressure on this administration is justified due to the urgency of the times.
At least the guy in the whitehouse is not in the banks and healthcare's back pocket.
McCain probably would have had an infart mid pitch and that supid poodle bitch would be representing America. You gotta admit Robby.
The pitch was fine, what do you want a 95 mph heater? Besides who could tell what kind of pitch or where it went from the unbelievably shitty camera angle they used. What kind of shit was that? It's like the camera guy forgot and was completely out of position.
Wait a minute, it was FOX, I smell conspiracly. O'Reily must have been in the van.
Fox truly does suck major cow taint. Buck sucks, Aikman is a joke, Tim McCarver is total garbage. The only one I like is Chip Carey but they hardley ever use him. He's mostly on TBS.
NBC needs to get baseball back and get Uecker and Costas back on the World Series. Those were the best telecasts ever.
It is a very easy concept:
1. Get pay stubs to determine how much money a person is making currently.
2. Take a look at earnings history. Probably a couple of years to show consistency.
3. Make a person break down every bill that they have with stubs (probably 4-6 months to show a pattern). Electric, water, cable, phone, car, car insurance, credit card payment, student loans, est property tax ect...
4. Factor in incidentals: food, entertainment, gas.
5. Take the amount earned, subtract the bills (not rent because you would be replacing that with the mortgage).
6. Add $200-400 per month to the bills as a cushion.
7. That number is the amount you can spend per month on a house or other loan.
8. Use a reverse mortgage calculator to determine how much of a loan, at the going interest rate, a person can afford.
9. That number created is the amount that the bank will loan. If you want a house more expensive than that, you must make up the difference in cash. No exceptions.
Bingo! Our recession is over and everyone is happy. Not a hard concept.
Fuck everybody!
