Please, please, please bring on the robot umpires, sensor plates, or whatever they need to do to get rid of these obese, power hungry, egotistical morons who think they're part of the entertainment of the game.
Jeter got called out yesterday attempting to steal 3rd and the ump called him out because the throw beat him even though the tag missed. Here's what Jeter said:
"I was just baffled by the explanation," Jeter said. "I was told I was out, because the ball beat me, and he didn't have to tag me. I was unaware they had changed the rules."
Jeter had walked to lead off the home half of the first inning against Toronto left-hander Ricky Romero, and he advanced to second on a balk before attempting a steal of third. Catcher Rod Barajas' throw beat Jeter's headfirst slide, but television replays showed that Jeter moved his hands away from Jays third baseman Scott Rolen's tag.
"I just pulled my hands back and got called out," Jeter said. "I've seen everybody make mistakes on calls before, but I was baffled by the explanation."
Jeter immediately jumped up and confronted Foster, saying he hadn't been tagged by Rolen.
"He told me, 'He didn't have to,'" Jeter said. "I'm not making this up. This is what I was told."
Jeter said he was not yelling at Foster, but Foster's explanation led to an ejection for Yankees manager Joe Girardi, whose volume level grew considerably louder as he earned his third ejection of the season.
"Jeet's not going to argue unless he's safe," Girardi said. "That's the type of player that Derek Jeter is. I went out there and wanted an explanation, and I ended up getting tossed."
Jeter admitted that the Yankees have benefited from similar calls in the past, but he said he had never actually heard an umpire admitting to ruling a player out because the ball beat him.
I'm so sick of this shit, whether it works for or against my team. I just want the game called correctly. I don't want to hear the "it's part of the game crap" either. All the other sports have adapted, why is baseball always the last to keep with the times. We finally got instant replays for home runs and fouls. Now we need it for plate calls as well. Give the managers a set amount of challenges, just like in football. People who say it will slow the game down have zero argument because anyone who watches baseball knows way more time is wasted by the umps and managers arguing over the call anyway. Replay speeds up the game in all cases.

Lets burn them!
Maybe Jeter is an ass and deserved to be called out. He probably hurt the umps feelings.
Off with their heads!!!!
I'm totally for automatic ball-strike indicators, similar to tennis. the hard part would be the adjustment for each batter , but if technology can do it, I am all for it. Home plate umpires' strike zones are all completely different and inconsistant. I've even heard coaches say that they pitched a certain pitcher because the ump has a low strike zone and he was a sinkerball pitcher.
As far as bases are concerned, that would be a lot harder to regulate. Even with instant replay, there is still a human factor in football. I guess maybe the 2 challenges per game rule, but you also run into the issue of camera angles. A Royal-Blue Jay game might only have a couple of camera angles while a Yankee- Red Sox game might have 10-15. It's not like football where every game is in HD and has several angles of every play.
forget all that, Jeter is the leading vote getter in All-Star voting! Finally getting recognition from other fans other then yankee fans. Anyway in this instince it wasn't even about the ump missing the call with his eyes, he missed it with his brain and not even knowing the rules!
I hope that ump gets fired. I really, really do. He has no business in the big leagues.
