I think Juan and Koko were discussing their favorite Streaker Moments this past Friday night while we sat around for 3 freakin hours beacause of some heat lighning.

This clip is classic. They don't even send out any security for this guy they just let him limp off to what must be a moment he thinks to himself......wow that was not worth it.

Speaking of not worth it.........Koko complained a few weeks ago about poor Pittsburgh Pirates fan and their team trading away a viable player. I actually defended the management team. Did you see they just traded away another player their starting SS for some more minor leaguers? They actually only have one player (The Cather Doumit) still on the team from their opening day starting line-up. Has this ever happened before in any sport? Again, you going to tell me baseball is not hurting? Another reason the Yankees are ruining baseball........even though Mad Dog would never admit that. Gave Mad Dog a short trial today....not bad....but I see why Koko loves him.....all he did was talk about the Yankees!

Who's Your All-Time Team?

Posted by Keith G.

The Ultimate Combo

I consider myself an avid baseball fan and enjoy watching and reading about baseball. However, it just doesn't feel the same when baseball is really the only viable sports option on TV. Sportscenter and the Radio shows can only show so many Albert Pujols and Manny highlights and yak about Brett Favre and/or Michael Vick.

I came to the conclusion baseball is losing a lot of footing in America when it can't really support Sportscenter or talk radio. I honestly hear a lot more about NFL free agency talk on the radio then I do about baseball. Also, I've noticed a lot more gimmicks to create interest in reading about sports and/or listening on the radio in the last month.......cause let's face it baseball just loses interest. You can only talk about the Roy Halladay update a few times before I get bored.

The most utilized gimmick I've noticed lately in some play on combining the Movie's and Sports......thus I thought the Dojo could jump on board. I particularly liked this one.

Who would your starting Five Be from all Sports Movies.

Breakdown:

1.) Coach
2.) Captain
3-5) Teamates

Mine.....would be as follows:

1.) Coach: Mickey (Obvious Choice)
2.) Capt. Crash Davis- (Bull Durham)
3.) Rocky Balboa
4.) Bobby Boucher (WaterBoy)
5.) Jimmy Chitwood (Hoosiers)

That is my humble list....Curious to hear the Dojo's.

POST GAME RECAP

Posted by J Dub

Well seeing as Keith is away on business, I am taking over the post game recap.

The field was probably the worst I had seen it in the 5 or so seasons that I played at Red Bug, but being the warriors that we are the Kai played with pose and dignity. "Regs got some tough breaks at third, due to the poor condition at RBLP, but he damn sure made it up at the plate", Capt. Tucci told the lone dojo reporter. Regs definitely light a fire with his homerun shot, and unfortunately the spark was not enough to keep us on top. Due to the bullshit time rules we were forced to end our game an inning early, which put a huge damper on our performace in the 6th inning. It is my opinion that had we not been forced to end the game early, most of the mistakes would have been avoided and the result would have been much different.

Well even though we didn't win on the field we damn sure won at Gator's! The tradition whip cream pie in the face was delievered with ruthless efficiency and skill. Unfortunately Johnny Blaze had departed so we were unable to make a good cream pie but we worked with what we were given. I lost the pitcher count but it was definitely a record breaking night, due to the fact that the Boston native was returning home.

I would just like to say Mikey I think I can speak for everyone when I saw that you will be missed! You are a hell of friend and I look forward to coming to Boston.

If you didn't get the attention you wanted in the Recap, sorry suck it up!

JW

Lombardi's Party '09 Lottery

Posted by Koko

It's back! We can all smell football within a month's reach. And now it's time to decide the order of this years Lombardi's Party draft.

I'll be bringing my laptop to Gators this Friday so we can pull the digital lottery balls and everyone can start putting together their draft strategies.

Even if the game is rained out, let's make it a point to show up at Gators anyway so we can get the '09 season started. We'll discuss the draft, which will be Saturday September 5th, and any rule changes we decide on.

BE ADVISED: This is fair warning, during the draft this year everyone is responsible for their own research and materials in drafting their team. Let's not piss in a cup and call it Kool-Aid here. Yeah we want to have fun, but money is on the line and we all want to win. So if you have a laptop, it's a tool for YOUR team. If you have detailed schamatics on every sleeper in the league, it's for YOUR team. Of course you'll always be able to see who's been drafted on the board, but if your turn comes and you can't come up with a name from your own materials, you will be skipped. We had way too much, "Who's best available?" and "Let me check your computer" last year. You got to put together your own shit. It's the way every league does it.

"So it shall be written, so it shall be done!"

PRES GOAT's HEALTH CARE PLAN

Posted by Anonymous

Okay first of all I had to come up with a name for this great plan. Something new, original, creative. A name that stands out and says "HOPE"! I call it...............
THE FINAL SOLUTION! I know I know, genius! (Its never been used for anything else right?)

This new health care reform will be simple and cost effective, revolutionizing Health Care!

First off: We euthanize everyone over 65. A large % of the population are baby boomers and these are the people sucking all the money, social security, and resources. This will be a big expense at first but it pays for itself over the long haul. Long lines at the doctors office, good bye!

Second: If you believe in god and go to church/synagogue/mosque regulary (and I mean both religious nuts and moderates) and if everything happens for a reason and its all in gods plan, then don't play god by going to a doctor to get it fixed! You get a new and "FREE" thats right "FREE" health care! It works like this. You get sick.....you pray to god to make you better! (so all you right wingers can save tons of money to now spend in gay glory holes and truck stop restrooms. (tap tap)

Third: If you were born in Boston, you get free health care as well! Some might see it as being used for testing of new drugs and medical procedures, lab rats, etc. but screw them. You get to be the first to try all the new stuff! So what if it's not tested and the side effects aren't known yet, NEW FREE STUFF!

Last: Legalize pot. Bam! Recession over, debt payed for, health care reformed, everyone is happy, YOUR WELCOME!

Michael Jackson's Funeral cost Taxpayers $1.4 Million....

I don't know if it is because it is the dog days of sports in late July but here is yet another post about money and politics rather than sports.

According to a recent article the City of LA had to dish out over $1.4 million to help cover expenses associated with Jackson's funeral including security and overtime pay.

Is this a necessary evil or should the estate or even the Staples center helped with the cost. Considering another article debates the Staples Center advertising exposure netted them close to $65 million in advertising exposure......whereas Raymond James Stadium only netted around $37 Mill for the Super Bowl.

IF MJ would have jumped out of the casket and performed Thriller or something to that aspect would that not have been quite possibly the greatest performance ACT of all time.........nothing in the world could have topped it. And only Michael could have gotten away with it......faking your own death just to put on a great show.......How cool would that have been.

Random Takes to Create Firestorm

Posted by Keith G.

OK….so the dojo is lacking so I am throwing out a few random takes to help everyone make it through the day. At this point any take should start a firestorm between Regs and Koko but here goes:

Did anyone read in today’s newspaper how the budget deficit is causing Orlando to cut EMT positions, fire fighters, and something like 6 Ambulances from rotation and when firefighters go on vacation or call in sick they won’t replace them. In article it denotes how Ambulance arrival times will be lengthened and they will seriously evaluate if it is even necessary to send one and/or if you need a ride once they get there because of the cost. WOW! Now human life costs are being crunched into the budget. I know DonJuan will weigh on this one. I mean I can understand if the expressway’s grass gets a bit overgrown cause they can’t afford to cut it every week or if there is a broken street light that does not get repaired right away…..but to force EMT’s to decide who deserves an Ambulance ride and who does not is getting pretty scary.

Then, there was another article detailing how the state must decide on improving certain health care areas or allocating money so they can upgrade to broadband internet in outlying areas like Umatilla. They even ha d a quote from some poor lady who said she has to check her email at work cause her dial-up is just too long now. I know I skimmed these articles, but that just seems absurd to me. I was confused if it was gov’t funded broadband or if it meant bright house and or Comcast don’t have cables laid there…..maybe our resident tech guru Koko can answer that question. Anyways, to me that just seemed crazy to even debate……healthcare reform or Faster Internet?????????

Also, Does anyone not love the Cardinals pitching staff mustache unification group? What a great idea. How come this is not utilized in pro-sports or any realm more often? I mean if somebody started a sideburn manifesto for the Dojo members or Goatee I would be on board to support my brethren in a show of team unity. Wait a minute…..maybe we should start one???? Any ideas? The playoff beard demonstrated in Hockey would be cool….but quite frankly I’m not sure I’m capable of one……so let’s rule that out.

Well, there is some fuel for the fire on this beautiful Tuesday afternoon.

Bring On The Robots

Posted by Koko

Please, please, please bring on the robot umpires, sensor plates, or whatever they need to do to get rid of these obese, power hungry, egotistical morons who think they're part of the entertainment of the game.

Jeter got called out yesterday attempting to steal 3rd and the ump called him out because the throw beat him even though the tag missed. Here's what Jeter said:

"I was just baffled by the explanation," Jeter said. "I was told I was out, because the ball beat me, and he didn't have to tag me. I was unaware they had changed the rules."

Jeter had walked to lead off the home half of the first inning against Toronto left-hander Ricky Romero, and he advanced to second on a balk before attempting a steal of third. Catcher Rod Barajas' throw beat Jeter's headfirst slide, but television replays showed that Jeter moved his hands away from Jays third baseman Scott Rolen's tag.

"I just pulled my hands back and got called out," Jeter said. "I've seen everybody make mistakes on calls before, but I was baffled by the explanation."

Jeter immediately jumped up and confronted Foster, saying he hadn't been tagged by Rolen.

"He told me, 'He didn't have to,'" Jeter said. "I'm not making this up. This is what I was told."

Jeter said he was not yelling at Foster, but Foster's explanation led to an ejection for Yankees manager Joe Girardi, whose volume level grew considerably louder as he earned his third ejection of the season.

"Jeet's not going to argue unless he's safe," Girardi said. "That's the type of player that Derek Jeter is. I went out there and wanted an explanation, and I ended up getting tossed."

Jeter admitted that the Yankees have benefited from similar calls in the past, but he said he had never actually heard an umpire admitting to ruling a player out because the ball beat him.

I'm so sick of this shit, whether it works for or against my team. I just want the game called correctly. I don't want to hear the "it's part of the game crap" either. All the other sports have adapted, why is baseball always the last to keep with the times. We finally got instant replays for home runs and fouls. Now we need it for plate calls as well. Give the managers a set amount of challenges, just like in football. People who say it will slow the game down have zero argument because anyone who watches baseball knows way more time is wasted by the umps and managers arguing over the call anyway. Replay speeds up the game in all cases.

Tribute?

Posted by Keith G.

A Tribute or tad bit off limits?

Normally I don't like to turn the dojo into America's funniest home videos but I couldn't resist with this great CFL Highlight. After scoring the first CFL touchdown of the new season, a player for Toronto took off his helmet, jersey, and shoulder pads - laid down in the end zone and mimicked being buried. Why? A tribute to Michael Jackson. Seriously. Top that Ochocinco and T.O.!

Do you guys think that is a nice tribute or could he have done it in a more tasteful way?

Perosanally, I think his thought process was in the right direction.....but a simple moonwalk or one glove dance would have sufficed. Oh well......any other great Michael Tributes you can think of????

Enjoy the 4th Everyone!!!!
