Ok, This is not a barb thrown at MLB or meant to disrespect the Yankees as Koko and Scott will surely turn it into. But.......Here is the Ratings for The DECISIVE World Series Game Monday Night on Fox VS the Monday Night Telecast of a Regular season Game of Indy vs Houston on CABLE.
World Series Rating: 10.6
MNF: 8.7
Wow. That says something about the state of baseball doesn't it?

I don't understand. The World Series won.
What's you're point?
And before you answer, you may want to actually educate yourself on how television ratings work and what the numbers mean.
This was not a Playoff Football game. This was a regular season nothing of too much importance win or go home type NFL game.
To have that close of ratings between a regular season game and the do or die final game of the world championship?
That's the point. Simple enough I thought.
If a regular season NFL game can compete that closely ratings wise with the World Championship final game that says MLB is not doing something right. It should not be that close.
You're one of those people that take facts, no matter what they are, and then warp them into whatever emotion you want to express at the time.
First of all, millions of more people watched the baseball game even though the series was pretty boring to a casual sports fan.
Even though the 2 teams involved were from small fan bases.
Even though the Monday night game was a very good matchup.
Even though anyone with any fantasy or gambling implications is going to watch the football game.
Considering all that, it's pretty impressive that it was still able to beat a good MNF game by 2 full points. Which is a lot in ratings terms if you bothered to look it up (About 3 million people)
And are you ever happy? You bitch and wine about the big market teams who get there every year and then say baseball is in trouble when you get your dream matchup of 2 teams that have never been there before.
You can't have it both ways. You're not going to get the 18 and 17 share ratings the Yankees and Phillies got last year with the Giants and Rangers. Baseball is and always has been a local game. When the juggernauts are not involved it's much harder to get big nation wide ratings. That's not going to change.
If the Cubs ever get to the Series, the numbers will be incredible because of the combination of fanbase and story.
Even so, this World Series could have pulled in much worse numbers considering the teams involved, but it held it's own. Baseball and Fox have to be happy with the results.
And I just love that you still had to mention the Yankees in some respect.
You're so passive-agressive you just can't help yourself can you?
I challenge you to post about baseball and not mention them at all.
Can you even do it?
Interesting. So you are saying that nobody cares about baseball unless it involves "Juggernauts" like the unamed team fron NY or Phillies. But baseball is only local cause no other fan bases care.....hmmm I wonder why?
But, In the NFL it doesn't matter what team is playing whether it is from a smaller market like Indy it is still going to draw large ratings.
You still don't think it is unhealthy for MLB not to have more markets competitive to expand the game?
Is there seriously not going to be a Big Fish Recap?...I could read that one about the Sharks for the rest of the year..just sayin
No Blaze, Dinger is too infatuated with the Evil Empire to write what could be the best Big Fish review ever.
And I bet even if he does he will have to mention the Yankees in it somehow.
Keith, do we really have to discuss how baseball is different from football again?
Don't make it out to be something shocking. Football is more popular than every sport in this country. It's once a week, it has major gambling, fantasy football is out of control, and it's violent.
Baseball fans have always been local fans. World Series are watched for the most part by the fans of the teams and casual fans that find a good story in the series. This World Series did better than it's fan base because neither team had won before.
The World Series is not an event like the Super Bowl where it becomes a national holiday and everyone watches whether they are interested in the game or not.
You have to compare the World Series to something like the NBA Finals which get very similar numbers to the World Series ratings except when Jordan was in it. Then the ratings shot up to 18 just like when the Yankees are in the World Series.
You really have no valid point here.
Don't forget that "Dancing With The Stars" was also on that night. Probably took a good portion of the male viewer from San Fran away at the very least. HAHAHA just a little "gay bashing" humor to celebrate our new republican run house!
Ladies and Gentleman....THE GOAT!!!
Welcome Back my friend.
Actually very good point.....I bet you DWS (I'm so cool with the acronym) did have a huge ratings affect on both shows.....some how that show pulls in tremendous numbers week in and week out.
