What are the Cobra Kai really all about?

Posted by Keith G.

The Cobra Kai

Recently, some of the members of the Dojo left another teammate hanging in his pursuit to bring the team together. The Grand Master and Swami himself Elliot went out of his way to organize the dojo for a team practice and grill out/BBQ. Much like preparing himself for a game Elliot went all out and spent money on beer and food not too mention his precious time. Many of us wanted to and said we were all in to attend.

However, most of us ended up for one reason or another not making it out. Now, I'm not here to call anybody out or make excuses just hopefully explain sometimes members of a family let other members down. Well, it got me to thinking what are the Cobra Kai all about?

To me, the Kai really are more than just a championship caliber team, we are a family. At the end of the day the most important aspect of the Cobra Kai is about the relationships we build as a team. I am proud of the relationships we have built in the Dojo and we now have family members all across the country because of that.

For a team and a family to be successful it takes trust. I hope we can rebuild that trust that Elliot had instilled in us that made us the most dominate team at Red Bug Lake. Elliot truly has been our missing link providing way more than a big bat and solid glove. He has provided a tremendous amount of leadership to the team and that is something that is not easily done.

I certainly hope he finds it in his heart to accept the Dojo's apologies and realize that once in awhile you let a teammate down but in the end the Dojo always makes it up to their family members and picks each other up. Now, I don't now how we will make it up to E......but I can guarantee you this........We Will!

When all is said and done the Kai is about Family. When JW weighs in on Friday and makes the cut, not only does he succeed the whole team succeeds.

"For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.''

We left our lead member of the pack stranded......briefly but the pack always succeeds. I hope E accepts the Dojo's apologies and we can move forward to our Championship Season not only this year at Red Bug but for a lifetime to come.

What is done is done. Let us all move on....

Do not think this gets you off the hook for what I consider the shrine of the Dojo, the "Dinger Wrap-up” column from the previous game. For the Dojo is hollowed indeed without the recap.

I told a few of you Sat night/Sunday & are telling the rest of you now, you missed out on some incredible burgers @ E's house on Sat afternoon. Thank you E, it was a fun gathering. If the rest of the Dojo had been in attendance, it would have only added to the fun. Somebody needs to plan another Dojo bbq/pool shindig soon.
