This is definitely one of his best parody videos ever.
This will be the first CD I buy from a store in 4 years.
The Eminem obsession continues .
Ill probably download a couple....i prefered the non comercial Em...slim shady lp was good.
Not that he is completley comercial,,,,just a little more poppy
Greatest rapper of all time! Awesome song and video as always.
Love the guitar hero background.
I just dont believe he is or ever will be in the level of
NAS
RAKIM
BIGGIE
KRS-ONE
GZA FROM WU
PAC
Maybe in the top 10 , he is nasty.
He's a genius because he has his mainstream poppy slim shaddy side, in which he parodies himself and others, sells it to the masses and then 75% of the album is his more gritty material that never gets played on the mainstream.
My favorite part of this video was the Rain Man parody. He has some obsession with that movie.
Well it depends on what "level" you're talking about.
If you mean pure talent, that is incredibly debatable. But if you mean sucess, there is no contest at all, he is king.
PLEASE! Biggie: One album and then he died. He was more famous for dying then rapping. NAS: Again one good album (illmatic). KRS-One, GZA, no where near the top ten all time. Rakim was good but again maybe in the top ten but towards the end of the list. PAC is the only one who you can argue is better then Eminem but he isn't. None of them are anywhere near Em in any category. (other then 2-Pac)
Oboy Juan, you got the GOAT all riled up.
Be careful, he listens to rap all day long hyped up on GNC products.
Mr Goat, you were about 4yrs old during the 90's, so don't tell Juan what good rap is. You and your brother need to stop blowing slim shady. He is damn good, but not the "GOAT" like you claim to be. Grab some lube so this comment doesn't hurt you too much.
Once again Em is ripping other celebrities & putting them in their place. I didnt catch on to who some of the people were supposed to be.
Where is OutKast on your lists? Those are my ATLiens!
Mr. Rich, how old do you think i am? Juan can't be more then a couple years older then me. I grew up in the 90's. I'll put my musical knowledge up against anyone here, starting in the 80's! I know exactly what good rap is. I do apologize though I was only attacking Juan's list not Juan. Didn't realize you two were banging.
you guys all have it wrong. Gangsta rap is my forte. The top ten rappers of all time are:
1. Eazy E
2. Tupac
3. Ice Cube
4. Too Short
5. Chuck D
6. B Real
7. Marshall M
8. Snoop
9. Nas
10. 50 Cent
Honorable mention to some of my favorites: AMG, JT Money (poison Clan), Scarface, Method Man, Doc, Krs-1, Hi C, Rakim, Ice T (Body Count and Colors), and Bushwick Bill.
I don't think it is bad to make music that a wide variety of people can enjoy. Some people say that is selling out. I diagree. I think true music fans can identify and relate to talented artists. Being recognized for your talents is not selling out or being commercialized (as a negative).
Nice comeback. I truly don't give a crap, I just felt I needed to talk shit. Its been a while since we had a good fight on the blog. Anyway, the fucker is good, but not the greatest. Juan does give good head though.
Lot of drive bys in Milwaukee? The world is comming to an end.
its all opinion anyway. If you want to make a general list then you have to go by album sales and longevity. Eminem wins hands down.
Here is my list....(THE LIST)
1. Eminem
2. Tupac
3. Jay-Z
4. LL Cool J
5. Run DMC
6. Rakim
7. BIG
8. 50 Cent
9. Snoop
10. Kanye West
Honorable Mention: mos def, talib kweli, the roots, common, outkast.
Ohh ok goat boy let's base everything on who sells more and is more popular.
In that case fast and furious is the greatest movie of all time and the new kids on the block is your favorite band.
This is obvious a preference topic, but coming from a guy who wrote rhymes for over 6yrs, battle rapped on stage, and would freestyle against you any day, these are just my opinions.
Sorry sully, I agree dre from kast and ceelo of goodie mob are also in my top ten.
I said if you wanted to make a GENERAL LIST you would have to base it on sales and longevity. Ok so you rap, doesn't make you anymore of an authority on the topic. My ears and eyes work the same as yours. (maybe a little better). lol. Just giving my opinion, don't take it personally.
I'll pass on the freestyle battle seeing as I can't, never tried, and never will try to rap. Just curious, what specifically do you think is better about the guys above eminem on your list. I would argue that any category you can come up with Eminem would be better then any of the others.
Wow.....I love the battle we got going on..........DonJuan You need to showcase your freestlye skills more often..I do remember seeing you flow a few times and they were killer rhymes.
Regs....Eazy E #1 on the list????
Wow, leave it to Eminem to start a controversey on the Dojo.
Just so everyone knows, my knowledge of movies is to the GOATS knowlege of hip-hop. While I watched HBO day and night, he played CD's. Occasionally we stopped to beat the shit out of each other.
Here is what I think is a great analogy of why Em is the greatest of all time. Let's use baseball, something everyone here can relate to.
If you ask baseball historians who was the greatest all-around player ever, MOST of the responses would be either Ted Williams or Joe DiMaggio, with a couple of Babe Ruths thown in. Williams and DiMaggio were 5-tool players, Hit Avg, Hit Power, Speed, Fielding, Throwing. Some would say Ruth because although he didn't have speed or amazing fielding capabilities, the guy was an outstanding pitcher as well.
Eminem is the 5-tool hip hop artist. Find me another rapper that beats him in all of these categories:
1. #1 Albums and Singles, including 2 of the top 5 albums ever.
2. Respected Underground tracks
3. #1 Collabrative tracks with other rappers and/or unorthodox collaborations, ie Dido, Akon, etc.
4. Battle Rapping - one of the best ever.
5. Crosses the cultural barrier. He's the most successful rapper ever worldwide.
You can argue that there's other rappers that have surpassed him in a specific category, but no one has been able to achieve the all-around supremacy of his career in the hip/hop world. Not to mention a successful movie that won him an Oscar for one of greatest hip/hop anthems ever made.
Therefore, pound for pound, he is the greatest of all time.
The origin of hip hop deals with an urban view of poverty , politics, religion or lack of , racial history , breakdancing etc..
From my point of view growing up in a rough ghetto( carol city ), artists that truly spoke about the conditions I lived evryday are the ones I related too. Along with undeniable rhyming , flow delivery , absence of catchy (for the brain dead ) hooks , these are the criteria I judge on.
Someone who can rap and basically express a worldly view.
Eminem is a great rapper , one of the best...obvious maybe the best artist in hip-hop , but not the greates rapper imo.
The main reason I don't listen to much hip-hop anymore is lack of lyrical content and imagination.
Just cause you can rhyme don't me dick....I have met plenty of guys who can flow that never made it , and listen to guys like LIL Wayne who I can freestyle better than he writes make it. Along with everything else in entertainment today it is a reflection of a dumbied down society.
Anyway here is my list
1.Nas
2.Pac
3.Rakim
4.Cee-lo
5.Biggie
6.Gza
7.Eminem
8.Dre from Outkast
9.Imortal Technique ( very underground)
10.Krs-One
Honorabl mention....Scarface , Big Pun, Guru , Talib Kweli , Eighball , may Wu members.
If you ever see the comments of most great rappers of all time , Nas , Rakim and Dre from Kast and Jay-z usually top there list.
Peer review of sorts.
So he can't be the best cause he isn't black/spanish, or ("URBAN" the nice word for not white)? That is the only reason you will never see his name on any of his "peers" lists for sure! Can't admit a white man is the best rapper ever. He does rap about all those things you mentioned. It may not be from your particular point of view but you can't base who is the best on that alone. You can only base your persoanl favorites on that. Ever hear "Mosh", "White America", "Fight Music", "Sing for the moment", "8 Mile" etc. These are all songs that express "wordly views"/political/society subjects. A big part of hip hop is also telling a story through words which he is amazing at. Maybe only tupac can come close to him in that category. There is definietly no lack of lyrical content or imagination when it comes to Em.
anybody ever see when the had that round table on mtv making the top 10 rappers of all time list. Eminem's name was brought up and they immediately just put him at the bottom wiht no discussion what so ever. They took like 10 min. on every other person going back and forth and Em was treated like a red headed step child. (And if your wondering there was not one white person on that panel, hmmm...)
Hey Juan,
Yo I can take you down man.
Lets go . . .
Roses are usually red,
Violets are usually blue,
NAS = Best Ever is WRONG!
And usually so are you.
Sho Nuff!
Shout out to my Hebrews.
Peace and Love, Peace and Love.
I think Eminem would be taken more seriously by members of the rap community if he didn't make some of the goofy parody type songs and stuck to his roots i.e. the songs mentioned by goat. On the flipside, those goofy, catchy songs are the ones that are the most popular and make him the most money. So its a catch 22.
I totally agree with Juan about today's artists. I think old school artists rapped about their life and things that they saw. You could feel the passion that they put into it. Some people could relate, most people didn't. Todays artists are mostly concerned with one thing; how do I get more suburban kids (mostly white) to buy my music. That is why I don't like people like Nelly, puff daddy, Lil Wayne, newer T.I. Who claim to be rappers but their music lacks passion.
All eminiem ever does is rap about his life. He did not make his career on the "look at me and how much money I have" routine.
He had a fucked up childhood and grew up in a virtual warzone, aka Detroit.
By the way the goofy songs are intentially goofy because most of them are a comment on pop culture.
It's just more proof why he is the best of all time. His diversity. Not many can do a "silly" track like Without Me, and then do something like Stan and make them both mega hits.
Refering to what Regs said about old school artists having passion, what rapper ever has rapped with more passion then eminem? There is none. Ex. "stan", "cleaning out my closet", "the way i am", "mocking bird", "sing for the moment", "loose yourself". Thats enough examples. I am not going to comment anymore on this thread cause I feel I have obviously won. Thank you! Be sure to go out and get the new Eminem album when it comes out and listen why he is the best rapper of all time!
My point is that the "rap community" sometimes doesn't recognize his true talents because on some of his most popular songs, he acts like a fool. Even though I think it is hilarious and totally creative, some rap critics don't take him as seriously as they should, based on some of his other work. I was agreeing with you guys.
NO! No Reger! Ok! Just No! You're an agitator. You don't get it, say he's the best right now!
SAY EMINEM'S THE BEST RIGHT NOW!!
SAY IT, SAY IT, SAY IT!!!!
OHH, OHHHH, OHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Damn I miss Kinison.
Sorry goatboy you won nothing as you failed to convince me with any of your arguments.
I will always take the professionals who back my point of view.
That point of view is ridiculously skewed though Juan. Come on do you really expect any black rapper with any sort of a career to say publicly that Eminem is the best ever, even if he truly thought he was?
Not a chance, it would be career suicide.
Peers are never the best judge of a particular art or sport they are in. Just look at the SAG awards and the Oscars. Which is more respected? Peers usually vote for their friends. That's why critics have careers.
i cant tell if this is an exact parody of videos, koko, but the video is original. i like the fun he pokes at jesica simpson and whoever bitches are in that video. eminem is a talented lyricist and he is definitely back. there is a God after all to save us from all the radioactive waste that is clogging the airwaves. Long live eminem.
Yeah buddy, there you go. I was waiting for you to drop in on this.
For anyone who don't know, Aaron Gino, aka Dr. Naps, was my college roommate. Some of you may have met him before.
This guy can spit some lines too.
no, no, i won. We wil just have to agree to disagree DICKLER, but i'm right. I already explained why his peers don't show him respect. But I assure you Eminem is "YOUR FAVORITE RAPPER'S FAVORITE RAPPER"! Maybe Hip-Hop really is dead though......AND NAS KILLED IT! Haha, see what i did there? Cause NAS had that hip hop is dead song with the thing and the other thing and........Ehhhhh!
Holy fuck, get a grip bitches. 37 comments? Is that a world record or something? Lil Koko & Juan, You are arguing over a topic that both of you are passionate about. Neither of you are wrong because its a matter of personal opinion!
I like Eminem bc he makes me laugh at his parodies but he's a great lyracist. I'm not saying he's the best ever. I don't know who is.
Koko, 5 tool rapper? WTF?
Yeah, it was an analogy Sean.
You see an analogy is a literary device used to describe a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based.
For example. If someone was trying to measure your level of intelligence, an analogy could me made that your brain is much like an appendix. It takes up room, causes more trouble than it's worth, and pretty much has become a useless rotting piece of meat.
Understand now?
40!!!!!

LOL! He got you good Double S.
Please don't call me lil koko!
OK Goat, no mo Lil Koko. Koko, I know what an analogy is but I bet you and your LP know more about anal than I do.
no prob koko. you know i have not read all the blogs on the best lyricists but i have my list of the best and they are in no particular order so they wont be numbered. (u may not know some of these cats so do some research and give them a listen)
*supernatural (freestyle phenom)
*me
*ras kas
*chino xl
*eminem
*andre 3000
*tariq aka black thought from the roots
*talib kweli
*mos def when he tries
*sean price
*tech nine
*krs one
*rakim
*Lauren hill
*bahamadia
*And some underground cats all around the fucking world. big up.
and when we are talking about lyricist i am talking about muthafuckas who use their words cleverly and it makes fucking scense. not the souljah boys or flo ridas or fucking shawty los. I am talking about people who rhyme because the feel it in their soul and are intelligent enough to make rhymes that make sense without dumbing their shit down.
there are some artists that most of you have mentioned that are notable but when it comes to lyricism, that is an art and not every rapper is an emcee.
