I always thought the XFL went at it the wrong way and could have been wildly successful if they did a reality TV show leading up to the debut of the league. Think 'Hard Knocks" meets True Housewives of NJ...something like that. In a league of no-names the only way to get people to watch is to create a connection with them and get them interested. I think the New UFL should do the same thing.
Did you see that over 1200 no names showed up at the Citrus bowl Saturday to try-out for the the Rob Reger Tuskers.....and get this.....Each candidate had to pay $60 to try out. That's right....I think the Tuskers just made more money selling applications to the team than they will selling tickets. Calculate that for a minute.....$60 X 1200= $72,000.
Would you or would you not watch some type of reality show around Orlando with the try-outs.....once they have it down to about 50 or so?????
I think we need to hold a try-out next season for the Cobra Kai and charge a twelve pack just for the right.
Also, in a related story to Rich's favorite topic I read that the NY Jets were not interested in bringing Favre back. New Coach Ryan did not call or text or email Favre once in the two weeks he was the coach up until Favre retired. Hmmmmmm.....I wonder what that says.
Lastly, Did you see Koko's favorite wide-out had to hire a Prison Coach? A prison Coach to prepare him on the ways of the big house. I wonder what those classes are like. Now, Plax I can't stress this enough......When somebody asks you to go out wide...........

What am I gonna do now ?
Oh yeah lets all text Reger all night to get instant updates on the happenings of one JP Losman.
I know it has been a while since I posted, my bad guys!
$60 to try out? I hope they atleast got a T-shirt or something.
I don't know if I would pay to try out for a team that probably is going to be around for a single season.
The reality show would be a good idea and a way to hype up the league. You should get on that Dinger.
The absolute best way for the owners of these teams to make money would be to not have invested in the fucking teams.
There's nothing you can do to make another pro football league successful. NOTHING!!! The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
USFL, World League, XFL, even the AfL, and now the newest group of yahoos that are ready for their padded room and straight jackets, the UFL.
Also, yeah I hope Plex doesn't fumble the soap. I feel bad for the guy, what a stupid thing to go to jail for.
Hello,
Obviously the Tuskers qb 1 is the former Wisconsin Badger star Brooks Bollinger.
I don't care what you guys think. I think that the league is smart for only having 4 teams in the first season. That way, the talent level per team will be greater and the league will have a better product.
Once upon a time, Al Davis, Lamar Hunt, and Ralph Wilson started up a league to compete with the NFL and it turned out ok for them.
I agree with Keith about the personal stories. There will be a lot of them.
That is true....Hope is a very good thing Koko and for once a very profound statement from Regs regarding the success of the AFC..........
At one time there was a start-up softball team named Allen-Edmonds with no real identity.....and then after hard work and perserverance they became known as the famous Red Bug Lake Champion Cobra Kai's!!!!!!
Yeah ok let's compare the AFL to the UFL. Not to the other upstarts that failed horribly in modern times. Let's compare it to the golden age of football. Because that's much more relavant.
Perhaps Bon Jovi will invest in another football team in this league because they will be (PUN WARNING) liv'in on a prayer to survive.
Maybe a few of the players will get noticed and make it onto NFL teams when the league folds, not likely but it's a much higher chance than the league actually surviving more than a few seasons.
The NFL is way, way too powerful to compete with right now. In order to really take off you have to provide something the competition is not. What is this league going to provide? The USFL and ABA made a little headway because they were giving the public something the NFL and NBA were not. Excitement. Although they were eventually dismantled anyway. Is the UFL going to give us something the NFL lacks? What would that be? And on top of it, they are going to be going up against the NFL and NCAA during their seasons. I think UFL stands for Unbelievable Fucking Lunatics.
Their best hope is to be a big enough thorn in the NFL's side to the point that they just get bought out. The AFL was able to be successful because they were signing top tier college players. Does anyone really expect top players to forget about the NFL draft to sign with the UFL?
If you play devil's advocate, perhaps if they can last long enough and the NFL lockout coming in a few years gets way out of control, a few players may defect just to keep their skills up. And some top college talent would sign for big paydays. Then I could see them selling some tickets and getting some momentum, but that's a really big if.
