Just Brutal....But you knew it was coming. I really am torn this time. My all time favorite sports hero...after Rocky Balboa has come back in dramatic fashion to don the rivals uni.

On one hand it is downright apalling. On the other hand you understand why he is doing it....he is a warrior and just wants to play. I get he didn't want to go to training camp.....does he really need it??? No......if everything he has done over the past year was all to set up this moment than he loses a ton of cred in my eyes. And I would have to assume he weaseled out of New York just to set this up.

I love how everybody is worried about Green Bay fans....What about Jet fans? He shistered them the most???? I mean I know they only gave up a high draft pick....but everyone fell in love with him last year......He made them contenders....Kind of.....and then he plays the retirement card and they are back in rebuilding mode. And let's face it....that is not a young team overall......they have alot of weapons to contend now......but not with Mark Sanchez and/or Cleo Lemen......

There have been rumors that the Favre family had 26 rooms booked for the last 2 months at a local motel in Green Bay for the Game Nov. 1st........Why is that such a big game for them? I mean do they really want to see him stick it to the franchise that made him who he is??? Yes...Brett did more for the Packers.....than they did for him. But....He was a drunk that got ran out of town in Atlanta and on his way out of the league until Ron Wolf put his faith in him.

Anyways, I wish him no Luck in Minny and hope he falls flat on his face.....that really is the only way I can still call him my hero 20 years from now. If he wins the division....were done!

He is a damn drama queen. I'm surprised his shoulders can support that huge ego of his. I hope he does really shitty this year so he never comes back.

Let's get one thing straight. Once and for all.
Favre wanted to play for the Packers and go through the entire training camp last year. He was in Green bay with his wife ready to practice.

The Packers sent him home and traded him. If it was up to him, he would still be a Packer.

The guy wants to play football and the team he wants to play for doesn't want him because they have a QB who currently is 0-7 in games decided by under 7 points.

He's like an alcoholic who just walked into a bar during happy hour. He can't help it. He is addicted to football.

I changed my mind....I'm not all that mad at him. What is up with this guy?

After watching his press conference He won me over. He just seemed so passionate....he won me over? Am I worse than the abused girlfriend that goes back for more???

And Regs...Stop defending his stupid decisions. We went over this last year. It's one thing to come back...it's another to come back for the rival of the team you built your legacy with......

Rocky Balboa where have you gone????

Koko said...

I'll tell you where he's gone Keith, he's in New York playing shortstop for the Yankees.

The day he puts on a Red Sox jersey is the same day the oceans start to boil, 40 years of darkness, the dead rising from the grave, dogs and cats living together . . . mass hysteria!!!

Jeter is the last golden child. Oh and he now has the most hits ever for a shortstop. Just one more stepping stone on his way to Rose's record.

My analogy is

pretend I get a divorce from Brea,

Last year was like me going out and banging some random chick to feel better.

This year is like going after and banging my best friend's wife.

In both cases I am banging a chick that isn't my wife, but the situations are very different.

My god, you Wisconsinites would Febreze a cow turd and call it potpourri.

The guy is a flake. He can stand up there and profess his passion for the game all he wants. He's a nut job. The only other athletes that get away with this kind of behavior is boxers. And we all know they're crazy, they get punched in the face for a living.

The guy has damaged his reputation very badly. But I don't think it's beyond repair, as time will most likely mend the wounds he's caused even if he does fall apart in Minnesota. It will be major fuck up if he never gets his jersey retirement day in Green Bay though.

Oh and Keith...

Let's take a look at what your hero, Rocky did. Let's say you were a huge Apollo Creed fan. You loved his pizzazz. His speed and power.
Then along comes this upstart nobody and pushes you to the brink. Then this nobody faces you again and this time wins by one second.
If you're a Creed fan, you hate Rocky. Then, the next thing you know, he is training him to fight.

Here is what I posted on facebook yesterday. I know Rich read it.

"Dear Brett Favre, you are a drama queen! I hate you. Always have, always will. I wish you would just go away completely. Don't want to hear from you ever again. Go back home to your farm & play with your sheep all day. I hope they kick you in the balls when you do the reach around on them. Sincerely, Every Chicago Bears fan!"

Fuck Brett, the Fudge Packers, the Vikings and Brett again. Hope he sucks & his arm falls off.

My god Sean, you've only posted that on Facebook and this site?

You must share that brilliance with as many people as possible. Get that shit in the newspapers, call Time Magazine, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, hire skywriters across the country. . .

People must be enlightened!!! Now that I've read it, I'm going straight to NASA to apply for that rocket scientist job I saw on Career Builder.

Thanks Double S.

Does he have any college elegibility left? Maybe he can take over for Tebow when he leaves after this year.

How Brilliant Double S.

Just Remember Jim Mcmahon won a super bowl with the Green Bay Packers!!!!

And Regs.....I don't get your Apollo Analogy.

The Majority of fans loved Rocky in both their fights....and they loved Apollo just that much more when Rocky trained him....and don't even try to pin Apollo's death on Rocky....it wasnt his fault.

what's up guys!! as a fellow Minnesotan, I hope Brett and the Vikings CHOKE!!!!!! see you guys a the draft!!!!

Regs said...

Ok Keith I'll break it down for you.

I'm assuming that prior to Rocky showing up, Apollo had a fan base. By all indications, he was a very popular champion. The reception that he got at the Drago fight pretty much confirms that.

So when he fought Rocky the first time, I'm assuming that there were quite a few people that were glad that Apollo won and were really pissed off when Rocky beat him the second time.

At that point, they were huge rivals. They even almost got into a fight in the hospital after the first fight, in wheelchairs. Apollo fans probably hated Rocky and Rocky fans probably hated Apollo.
Then, out of the blue, Apollo starts training his fiercest rival? What?!?! If I'm an Apollo fan, I am pissed, but they don't cover that because the movie is called "Rocky"

Keith G. said...

Regs....Apollo retired. If Favre came back and was the QB back coach of the Vikings...completely different story all together.

And of course the fans loved him during the drago fight........what at the height of the cold war would any american not have cheered for Apollo???

And......Rocky didn't hate Apollo....and Apollo didn't hate Rocky....Apollo was embarassed that he got taken to the bell by a nobody he thought was going to be an easy match........

Koko said...

You know boxing is in a sad, sad state when a Rocky/Apollo discussion is way more entertaining than anything going on in the real sport.

Regs you might be forgetting that a lot of Apollo's fans actually turned against him after the first fight. Remember he got a lot of hate mail from people saying that he was payed off to carry Rocky.

When Rocky actually beat him the second time, those people probably reconsidered their initial reactions and gave Rocky his due respect. So when Apollo trained Rocky in his time of need, Apollo fans would have to see what a good sportsman Apollo was for helping the person who took the title away from him. Also there was a lot of people feeling sorry for Rocky with his manager dying and all.

Oh and one more thing . . .

we might all be very delusional and should check into the nearest psych ward immediately.

Regs said...

Fine,
I guess I can see the coach angle. Although I don't think Koko would be happy if Jeter retired and started coaching for the Yankees.

Koko said...

No way, I would love if Jeter coached for the Yanks after he retires. In fact, I coudn't think of a better hitting coach.

I think you're referring to Apollo retiring early. I don't think he did, he was pretty much at the end of his career after Rocky II.

Regs said...

I meant the Red Sox. Sorry

Koko said...

Oh, yeah I would fucking burn my Jeter jersey if he ever did that.

But there's no way Apollo and Rocky had a Yankees/Red Sox type of thing going on. Plus it's very hard to compare individual to team sports. The dynamics are very different.

Not to mention it's also very hard to compare reality to fictional characters in a movie. The dynamics are very insane.

We all need to be fitted for white jackets. But maybe we can get Cobra Kais printed on the back . . . YEAH!!!
