So this will be my last post about the subject, because I am very sick of it, but I want to report that I successfully argued my point and won an arguement against Koko last week (not easy to do).
If you guys recall, last week I posted an item in which I applauded the Veterans Health System, only to get ripped to shreads by Koko and Juan about how poor the care for veterans was. the thing is, I totally agree with them and was only setting a trap in which they both walked right into. The Veterans Health System is terrible. People who need care don't get it. The VA Hospitals spend money on unneccesary items and ignore neccessary ones. Their Doctors are terrible and it takes forever to get ANYTHING done.
Guess what the Veterans Health System is?
Wait for it
Wait for it
Wait for it
Wait for it
GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTHCARE!!!!
That is right. This is what happens when the Government gets involved in Healthcare. You get what the Veterans have. To make matters even worse, Howard Dean (prominant liberal) just admitted last week that Medicare and medicaid are even worse off than Veterans Healthcare.
I knew I had to get creative to get those guys to admit that I am right, but i finally rest my case.
I'm officially done with the subject. Thank God.

I can't beleive I walked right into your TRAP! Nice job Admiral Ackbar.
But uh oh Regs, you might want to stick to checkers because all you have is a simple and very weak "check."
First of all, please point me in the direction of Howard Dean saying anything against Obama's plan or the VA care. No wait don't bother, I'll actually show you what he really thinks instead of making things up.
Here's what he thinks of Obama's plan and how the Republicans will do anything to stop it.
http://www.time.com/time/nation
/article/0,8599,1911849,00.html
And here's the interview he did with the author of a book about how the VA care is better than most in the private sector.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwA12AQpn98
The VA care my uncle received was not the greatest care and I thought it was shamful to treat anyone who risked their lives for this country with anything less than the absolute premium health care. That's the only experience I've had with it and I have not heard good things about it from other stories, mosty with Vietnam Vets.
I'm not sure if that system has progressed, but this interview Howard Dean did with the author sure does not disparage VA care, it triumphs it. I'm not judging the validity of VA care here, I'm simply showing that Howard Dean did not say anything against VA or government care. The only critisims about it, which he writes about in his book, are that the expenses for these programs are increasing at far too great a rate. Hence the need for reform.
And just one more time, I'll beat this poor dead horse because the message is just not getting through for some reason. If you want the public option, it will be there for you. If you don't, then FUCKING DON'T. You see, it's still a free country. Keep your private health care. But for someone who has nothing and is sick and dying becasue they have nowhere to turn, I think they will be very greatful to have the same care available to them as the President of the United States. And just to clarify, that system is totally different than the VA system. They are run independently, so whether you think the VA system is good or bad, it has nothing to do with Obama's plan. I highly doubt the congressmen, senators, and president have such an awful medical plan that someone who cannot afford any health care would turn their nose at it. The goal here is to get everybody covered under some type of health insurance. We can tweak the system all we want later. But first you have to get the damn country covered. One step at a time.
I know it's hard to understand since we've been in a "no steps at a time" routine for so long. But this is how things get done. Without the first brick, you'll never complete anything.
So please go to those links and see what Howard Dean actually said and thinks about the health care reform. Misinformation doesn't help anyone, it just creates fear and confusion. You know, the Republican way.
What's that sound? Oh I know it's my fucking Knight lancing the shit out of your Queen. And since you said, "I'm officially done with the subject." That my friend, is CHECKMATE.
Thank God's son Jesus.
WOW!! ........What does Jesus have anything to do with it? I thought Jews don't believe in him?
Swami Sayz:
I am curious as to what changes this healthcare bill will bring. All I tend to hear are demographically the same people yelling at the “town hall” meetings that this is socialism. I think this might be the first time these people have heard or even spoken this word. “We are heading towards socialism…”; “This is socialism…” “Obama is a socialist...” I often ponder is these people that yell this at the “town hall” meetings know what that is. Well kids, let’s take a look!
Miriam Webster defines socialism as: 1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods 2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.
Now that was fun huh? Interesting definition.
How does this relate to healthcare? We I am not sure. Maybe the word “government” being mentioned in there is it? I am not quite sure. Maybe I should ask all the over 40 white people I see yelling about it on TV? HEY OVER 40 WHITE PEOPLE ON TV. SINCE THIS IS THE COMMUNICATIONAL FORM THAT BEST PORTRAYS INTELLIGENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY, I WOULD LIKE TO YELL A TWO-PART QUESTION TO YOU. HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY IN PREMIUMS AND PERSCRIPTIONS MONTHLY, AND HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK ALL THOSE DRUG COMPANY ADS ON TV COST? I do love how they yell a lot and not actually say anything. I can often decipher something about “make it like our forefathers wanted this country”, and “stick to the constitution.” Good thing our forefathers left healthcare out of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights or we would have been screwed from the start. Oh yeah, they also left out the thing about the abolishment of slavery, women the right to vote, the little things. I mean let’s face it; healthcare is crappy no matter how you slice it. The problem is special interest lobbyist groups control our political system. And the new buzz word that was dug up was “socialism”. I was under the impression that a government system would be an additional choice you can chose instead of current healthcare providers. I remember reading about this same tactic in the 1620’s: but I think the buzzword there was witchcraft. And more recently there used to be this other word that floated around in the fifties: communist. I wonder if the current healthcare providers and their prescription drug company confederates are concerned there might be a lower-cost alternative to them. No, that’s ridiculous; there is no real money in healthcare. I mean those companies barely break even, right?
I would like to know the SPECIFIC reasons why people are against the healthcare bill. And “we need to respect the Constitution of the United States” is not specific enough for me. Or do I just read between the lines and assume all the yelling, when run through the universal translator, really means “WE DON’T WANT LOWER INCOME MINORITIES TO GET HEALTHCARE BECAUSE THEY MAKE MORE BABIES THAN WE DO!”
Alright Swami!!!! Now we're cook'in with some gas.
How come you can see it so clearly? Do you smoke magic herbs?
Wait, don't answer that.
Yes it is quite baffling why there is so much opposition for this plan by the right. Not from the politicians, we all know why they don't want it. It's because their powerful friends in the drug and insurance industries will have to stop fleecing people. But how so many private citizens are brainwashed into showing up at the lynchings, oh excuse me, town hall meetings, is beyond me. They just look like lynchings without the nuse and black guy. They show up and yell buzz words they heard on Fox or listening to Rush. They have no idea what the words mean.
There was actually a guy who stood up and yelled, "I want the government to keep their damn hands off my medicade."
This is what we are dealing with here. Morons. Actually morons is too high of praise. These people are genuine ass hats.
This plan will be nowhere near perfect even after it's passed. What it will be is a viable option for people who can't afford private healthcare. It will force insurance companies that have monopolies in many small towns to actually have to compete with lower prices. It will force private companies to up their game if they start losing people to a cheaper and/or better service. That alone is worth passing it.
A lot of the debating and ranting you hear on political shows is about the money it will cost to install this plan. They say Obama does not have a plan to pay for this. Obama says he does. This could be debated forever as the layman has no idea what the budget is truly like or how anything really gets paid for. But you know what I say . . . . FUCK OFF PLEASE!
I don't want to hear about money now. I don't want to hear about how this will cost too much when it will help so many. It didn't cost too much to drop bombs on the wrong country for almost a decade. It didn't cost too much to give insignificant tax breaks to people that didn't need them. And it didn't cost too much to bail out evil corporations.
So now we want to draw the line on something that will be of real use? Something that will actually make a tangible difference in millions of peoples' lives. No, we need this and we've needed it for a long time. Make cuts elsewhere. There's pleanty of unecessary shit still going on in goverment. Save your money there.
All praise Jesus the Jew.
Maybe I will have time to read all this shit another day. Good job Regs.
Good points guys , always count on Regs to get his desired rise out of everybody as Rich does when he sees JW walk by , or Smokey reads the word Jesus or Jews.
There is just not many good people left in this world is the real problem , greed and responsabillity has taken a back row seat in the shit-shower show !
HAHAHAHAHAHA.....LOL.......funny Juan. I prefer the name Yeshua. BTW, I know I'm slow but I recently found out what kike means. Does anyboby know where the word came from? W/o looking it up.
WOW! I know this is not "my area" as this is the Dojo and not the Lady Kai but this discussion is way too stimulating to pass out. Of course sans de "f-offs" and the Yeshua bashing I am pretty impressed by you gentlemen...
As a healthcare provider who has spent 8 years in becoming one plus accruing college/graduate loans and owing the government a mortgage!(after many years of learning English, being an immigrant w/o healthcare, working my tuckus at dr's offices as an insurance clerk, etc etc) Healthcare is VERY important to me. Although patients may have disaster encounters at the VA and some veterans do get bad care, let's remember that it is the major teaching hospital in our country. People often focus on the bad but never look at the outstanding clinicians and the effort the military/government puts into updating records and logistics. I agree with Jason, Obama never said we would get a "VA system" for the general public what he said is that he wanted ALL our records to show up and be accessible to providers, and that my friend is a valuable tool because like Dr. House says "patients lie!" they lie all the time about their meds, their sugar, their sex life etc.
We found out that Viagra could cause blindness because all the veterans were taking Sildenafil and then after having their fun they would have an AION..(anterior Ischemic Optoc Neuropathy) so they had to chose ummm stay hard or go blind??I have to say the men chose the latter...
That was found by a nice Jew who happened to do his work at the VA...I know the system is not perfect but it's something...I was proud to train at the VA even though the old men would ask me "where are you from? really little girl where are YOU from??? You dont look American to me!?!" they served the country and they deserve respect and awesome care...
I am not pretending to run in your parades and Im proud to see you passionate about this. I am more of a Moderate but I have to admit at least there is some sort of plan by our President.
I seriously think his plan is better that the unambiguous tax credit that was proposed by McCain. I was very angry at that so I could not support it. Unless the opposition comes up with clear counterplans the bashing is only hurting us taxpayers.
This is a huge business and there are a lot of interests involved, the AMA, AOA, ADA, plus the pharmaceutical companies and everyone else who pays for these guys to run for office.
Also, Americans are not accustomed to saving for healthcare. Meaning there are no "emergency savings accounts" for things that may come up. Mass Health recipients have money for cell phones and nails and gucci bags but not for health...The mentality is "does my insurance cover?" if not I dont care if I need a screening on glaucoma Im not paying".. Something is wrong with that...On the other hand a full-time student who works part-time should not be denied the opportunity to have Mass Health (affordable care for Mass; its kind of like Fla Healthy kids)
I am not pretentious nor naive and I do not write as if I have the solution or if my way is "the only way" but there needs to be dialogue and before you f-off someone else we should listen because this is a very complex issue
Maybe you should check all the info and not just what TV offers
www.politico.com
www.factcheck.org
www.mybarackobama.com (but you know that one)
You guys should be on "all things considered" of course they would have to clean it up a bit
P.S> I HATE when insurance companies look at a stupid code in a book (whithout having any clue) and try to dictate what is best for MY patient who may sue me because sme lawyer may tell them that "I failed to do a test"!!!but thats another issue malpractice insurance is very costly for us
Goddamnit. I'm back in. But this is the last time.
If people take a look at my views on this, the "socialism" angle doesn't even come into play.
My, by far, biggest issue is with anything Government run. I have zero faith that it can be done effectivey. Anyone who has been to the DMV should knw what I am talking about. Not one government agency turns a profit.
My plan is to make a federal insurance reform that serves as a watchdog for insurance comanies including limits on premiums. My reccommendation would be setting a $500 limit for a single person per month and $1000 for a family. There would be specific guidelines on who can be rejected and the type of coverage each price level would have. Sort of like what the FCC does for television and Radio. They don't own the stations but they set guidelines and mandates.
yea lets keep govt. out of our lives.....well except for telling us who we can marry...oh and telling a woman what she can do with her unborn fetis....oh and what I can watch on tv or listen too on the radio....oh and whether or not we can choose to die (Terry Schivo)... etc. That all sounds a lot like socialism too me. Funny thing is Jesus would totally be for socialized medicine, at least from what I know of him, other then the fact that he's a totally fictional character who never existed.
Wow....Welcome Merritza!!! Nice Job and great insight
Swami sayz:
Sorry Regs, no rebuttals allowed on walk-off “CHECKMATE!”[s]. Unless you have another last last last last last last comment.
YEAH!!! Ok, now we know were doing something right when the girls have to chime in.
Merritza, you never have to qualify your comments, you and the rest of the girls are welcome to post any time you want. Sorry about some of the language, but I don't think that's going to change any time soon. That is if Regs doesn't report us to his buddies at the FCC or something.
Very nice job by the way. You made some great points. Excellent "House" quote. That's one of my favorite shows.
Oh and please do not take any of the religious banter as offensive. None of us mean anything bad behind it. Well except for the GOAT. He means everything, in fact he means it to be worse.
Oh and Regs, sorry man but you're John Smoltz on this issue now. You threw a 90 mph heater over the heart of the plate it got jacked over the wall.
But keep this stuff coming man, great post. Look what it inspired.
I get hard when I think of your face covered in semen, Mr Juan.
Anyway, Obama better not take my fucking money away. Thats all I got to fucking say. I just busted my ass for 8 years to get an awesome job in healthcare. We all may get the short stick.
He's coming Rich, he's coming!!! You better hide all your money.
Quick, check the front door. He might be coming up your driveway right now.
I heard likes to carry around a king size mattress and stuff everyone's money in it going door to door. But if you have beer and fried chicken, you might be able to distract him.
Run, hide, he's coming, he's coming!!!!
. . . . douche bag.
God damn right I do!
Hey Regs, hide your money in your work boots! "They" would never check there!
I heart all of you
Lets continue to increase taxes on those people that make more than 250,000. It really gives motivation to strive for greatness for those people who actually work in this country for a living. We are in this problem because people are lazy as shit in this country and everyone wants something for nothing. Don't tell me I don't fucking know what I'm talking about either. When I see 13yr old pregnant girls with their 33 yr old mom who has 5 kids herself. Why do they do it? To get a fucking welfare check! I get to put epidurals in these dumb bitches when all I want to do is slap them and tell them to get a job and stay in school. Its a continuing trend that occurs over and over. Generation to generation. The idea of "just have a kid and don't have a job, you will be taken care of", is being taught.
People need to be accountable for their actions in this country. We are too sensitive of peoples feelings and we always "bail" people out. Motherfuckers need to hit rock bottom and learn from their mistakes. The government needs to have programs in place to help for those who truely deserve it (retards, elderly, etc...), but their needs to be limitations for those people who try to take advantage of it.
I have an idea Obama would like, a license to reproduce. Socialist fuck!
you don't know what your talking about! haha, I told it too u!
ha ha ha
