The Cobra Kai and Creative Floors were set for a Showdown for 2nd place last Friday night at Red Bug Lake Park, on what appeared to be a perfect night to play ball. Jeff Garciapara started on the mound for the flooring company and apparently all the sweeping of the floors gave him the golden arm as he pitched an amazing 3 hit shutout. We will have to consult our team pitching coach Mr. Miyagi as we have seen him teach many different techniques but maybe we need to revisit the “Sweep the Floor” technique because apparently it works for Creative Flooring.
Captain Tucci was stunned after the game and only had this to say, “Well in the famous words of my mentor Coach Morris Buttermaker, when we win a game it’s a team win, when we lose a game it’s a team loss, Heck Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
League offices are still investigating the phony “Call In” last week that curbed the Kai from making an appearance for over 3 weeks which may have been a contributing factor to our rusty outing. However, I must simply tip my hat to Creative Floors as they came out ready to play and we simply did not. We never got our bats going and the Floorers bats were red hot all night. They used our mantra against us and Struck First, Struck Hard, and certainly had No Mercy all night.
‘There is plenty of season left, and we will be ready for the those floor cleaning Creative’s next time, but for now our focus is on Bet on Black” JW said after the game as he will be one of the few original Kai’s preparing for battle this Friday as half the team is taking a sabbatical into the Mountains of North Carolina to prepare for the 2nd half of the season.
“The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.. That's how winning is done!”Johnny Blaze was quoted after the game as he will be leading the Kai into battle next week.
However, the tough loss did not curtail the Kai from celebrating the team and game at Gators as we got back on track and shattered our Team Pitcher record by downing over 68 pitchers this past Friday night with the help of our young gun AC. By my calculations that is an astonishing 3.8 pitchers per person…..Nice Job Team! The star of the night was Jon “JW” West himself. He stepped up to the plate and set the bar high for everyone that night by accepting the challenge of slamming an entire pitcher. I was stunned he finished that, I really didn’t think JW was that much of a man, he almost jumped into my man crush category for that feat” Koko was quoted as saying. Now there have been debates about the legitimacy of the slam but we will leave that up to the debaters, for now we will celebrate JW’s feat and until somebody can top it he get’s my nod for beer slamming champ of the night.
Lastly, sometimes from loss comes inspiration. The Kai’s biggest supporter and team bodyguard Erik aka “Oso” or “Bear” for you English speaking readers came up with a team War dance. He w
ill be unveiling this Friday night so don’t miss it! We wish the remaining team members all the best as they take on Bet on Black this Friday @ 7:30.
