Chick-Fil-Anti-Gay

Chick Fil A - No Gay Marriage

Chick-Fil-A, the incredibly addictive fast-food chain has come under fire from equal rights groups. Apparently, they have been supporting organizations like the Pennsylvania Family Institute (PFI). The PFI filed a brief in favor of Prop 8 in California which stated that marriage is only legal between a man and a woman. They also lobbied for the right to discriminate against people purely on sexual orientation or gender identity in Pennsylvania.

Closing their doors on Sunday's to respect the Christian faith is one thing, but donating money and openly supporting the persecution of a group of people just because they are different is reprehensible.

It will be difficult, because their food is so damn delicious, but I for one am done with Chick-Fil-A until they change their view. And yes they have every right to conduct their business and give money to whatever group they like, but I as a consumer also have the right to boycott them for living in the dark ages. And I hope anyone else with even a glimmer of respect for equal rights will do the same.

You have a right to your opinion..says the guy that openly supports and defends a team that's owner paid a gambler to dig up ilegal dirt on a player just so he didn't have to contribute money to his charity and whom got busted for ilegally giving money to Nixon.

And just for good measure:
The Yankees supported George H.W. Bush in the 1988 and 1992 campaigns and during the 2000 Florida recount, they gave $5,000 to the Bush-Cheney recount fund. Steinbrenner also gave $7,500 to Rudy Giuliani's PAC in the middle part of last decade and another $4,600 to Rudy's 2008 White House campaign. And in the fall of 2008, they cut a check for $15,000 to McCain Victory 2008.

Hmmmm.....Sounds like your beloved Yankees have given donations to people you don't support and have been or are against gay marriage.

I'm not saying any of that is wrong in fact I would say that it is commendable that you would protest a company to stand up for your convictions. But...if you are going to hold one Restaurant chain accountable for a donation what about your baseball team?

And before you retort and say that is the past....most of that happened while you were a Yankee fan. Your only retort is that now you have grown up and will hold your team accountable in the future....of which is very commendable of you.

Inconceivable! Your team just won the Super Bowl and still Yankees, Yankees, Yankees is what's in the forefront of your mind.

Seriously all kidding aside, it's time for help Keith. Hard-core psychiatric help.

And way to completely denegrate the topic at hand of how in 2011 a large group of people are still being oppressed in this country due to religion.

Giving campaign contributions in no way states that you are against gay people getting married. I voted for Obama and he said he believes marriage should be between a man and a woman as well. I completely disagree with him. You only have 2 choices in this country when voting and chances of agreeing with 100% of their views is miniscule.

But donating money to actively oppress and make sure gays do not have the same rights as the rest of us is just heinous.

And by the way . . . "over the past 20 years, the Republican National Committee received nearly $15,000 from the Steinbrenners and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee received $14,000.

Republicans received about 44 percent of Steinbrenner's contributions over the past two decades. Democrats, likewise, received about 44 percent. And political committee not tied to either Democrats or Republicans received about 12 percent of their donations."

It's just business, the Yankees do not care if gay people get married nor do they actively campaign against them. Your analogy is completey ridiculous as usual.

Ahh..Ok I get. Sorry I was confused. But just to be sure.

So donating money to a political group is purely a business decision.

But when a business donates money to a political group it is a heinous act against society. Got it.

Thanks for clearing that up.

And...I'm pretty sure Chick-Fila just like the Yankees welcome any kind of person to purchase their tasty chicken sandwhiches. I never saw a sign in their window indicating otherwise.

Again...I do want to preface I am not supporting either way just pointing out that all businesses dontae to political organazations and if you chose to call out one...you have to call out others that you support. But again do I commend you for bringing to light your opinions.

Why are you so obtuse?

This is not the same as donating money to the Republican or Democratic national committee.

That is incredibly broad and covers many positions.

I'm a registered Democrat but do I agree with every single Democrat and every stance they take. Of course not.

Chick-Fil-A is funding an organization that's targeted on making sure gay people can not be married and furthmore can be legally discriminated against.

Would you work for a company that did that?

Wow! Koko I just read the article you are referring to. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Chick-Fila DID NOT fund this group. All that happened was an independent owner of Chick Fila in Pennsylvania gave some free chicken sandwiches and Chocalate brownies for a How to have a succesful Marriage Seminar in one little city.
The Chick-Fila A company posted a response saying they did not support this company and support The outcry moved the company’s president, Dan T. Cathy, to post a video on the company’s Facebook fan page to “communicate from the heart that we serve and value all people and treat everyone with honor, dignity and respect,” said a company spokesman, Don Perry.

My God Koko...You just attempted to start a huge boycott cause some small business owner of a chick-fil-A in one tiny city donated chicken sandwhiches and brownies to a local marriage seminar. Come on Man..Your better than that.

If you want the real info read the NY Times article on it...not whatever news source you got it from.

Good attempt though....but I think we can all agree some localy business man giving away brownies to drum up business doesn't result in a heinous act against society.

Sometimes I wonder just how, how, how, how did this country elect a President like George W. Bush, not once but twice.

Thanks for clearing it up for me.

The CEO can bullshit and backtrack all he wants about not discriminating against anyone. Of course, he wants their money. And Chick-Fil-A received thousands of emails condemning them for the sponsorship of that event.

But that does not erase the fact that Chick-Fil-A DOES support the PFI and will continue to support organizations like them in what they call "stregthening families."

Too bad that in order to "stregthen families," organizations like the PFI feel the need to make sure certain people are not allowed to legally have one.

And no this is not a one-time simple misunderstanding, in 2009 Chick-Fil-A donated money to the Christian group "Focus on the Family," which has endorsed therapy for homosexuals to become heterosexual and supported anti-gay legislation regarding same-sex marriages.

Don't be so naive, they are taking heat and are now trying to put out the fire. We'll see if they endorse any other events or organizations like this in the future.

not surprising coming from a business that closes it's doors on sundays cause it's "the lords day".

KOKO is a FAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On another note, Chik-Fil-A is a private company. They have the right to do what ever they want. I am not condoning their actions, but they just took a huge PR hit. They will lose millions upon millions in the long run. Tree huggers like Koko will boycott this business. As consumers they have that right. I on the other hand will start ordering an extra chicken sandwich everytime I go in.

Koko said...

You mean on top of the extra one you already order?

Leave some chicken for the rest of the homophobes will ya?

Rich said...

I guess that would make it 3 sandwiches. LOL!

boycotts are stupid. If you like the food, eat it. If you don't, don't.

Choosing a restaurant or not choosing one based upon who or what they gave money to seems dumb to me.

On a somewhat related note, I feel the same way about actors pushing their views about something on people. They are not the authority on anything except being actors
