Tuesday Morning Quick Hits

Posted by Keith G.

Why does all the media outlets say Matt Millen is a tremendous Analyst and we should forgive him for his atrocity in Detroit cause he is a really smart guy and great analyst. I think he is horrible on Monday Night Football.

It seems everything he says Steve Young and Stu Scott look at each other and think to themselves.....He's lost it. Millen looks so out of place and out of touch......maybe cause last week he was sick and was picking his nose a lot but this week he still felt awkward to watch. Am I wrong????

Also, What is the deal with David Maus? Does he try to come off as a Cheese-Dick? His commercials are my favorite cause they are the definition of cheesiness. He alwasy has some new image schtick in every single commercial. And that Monday Night commercial where he has all those fans at his house watching a make believe football game is just plain odd. There are fans in Browns Jerseys, Jets Jerseys, Bucs Jerseys,........and that Overweight Somoan dude is just plain silly. I don't even know what jersey he is wearing........and he looks like he is about to pass out sitting on the couch. And the dude in the Browns jersey actually picks his nose???? I mean....Can't he put together a better commercial than that?????

Just a few of my thoughts from Monday night........................Watch out For Justin Fargas in week 4!!!!!!

That team is pretty bad in general. I can't stand Steve Young and Stu Scott either. And the booth team of Gruden, Tirico, and Jaworski is a complete disaster. Somebody please beat Gruden until he stops talking.

Also Collinsworth has been awful on the NBC game as well.

Al Michaels is still very solid but I wish he had Madden back, Collinsworth brings him down a notch.

Are you kidding me? Collinsworth is awesome. He is the only announcer that doesn't care what people think and he speaks his mind. He holds the players and the coaches responsible for their actions. He is raw and unfiltered. That is what I want from a color man, insight and opinions. Not regergitated cliches like everybody else.

On to Keith's point about Millen. I'm pretty sure that everyone can't get over thinking "this guy is the worst GM in the history of professional sports" every time he opens his mouth. I know I do. Every time he tries to make a point my brain immediately says "yeah but you were the guy that once used 3 top ten picks on receivers when you had no quarterback and no linemen". That immediately absolves any point that he may have made.

We should all do the David Maus double point !
I like Collinsworth , always has been my favorite but agree he is not gelling well with Micheals , I think if anything its the great Micheals who sounds reduntant. I can predict what he is gonna say and is begining to sound like Regis.

Michaels job is to just be professional and not annoying.

Play by play in football is too convoluted for creativity. Just don't have an annoying voice or say stupid things. Oh and call the plays correctly.

I used to like Collinsworth as well, but something is off with him on the Sunday night game. Yes he says whatever he likes, which is great, but he's been off on his comments during the game, at least the 2 games I watched. And he's not in sync with Michaels, but they just started together so you have to give them some time.

Best duo ever for any sporting event is Costas and Uecker. Why can't we get that back? Joe Buck sucks.

Regs said...

I don't know if anyone knows this, but nowadays, Uecker works alone for innings at a time during Brewer games. I don't know if the other guy takes a break, but it is just Uecker talking about what is happening during the game and telling his stories. It is great. probably wouldn't work in football because there is so much going on. just an observation.

Yeah that's the major difference with calling a football or baseball game.

In football, less talk is better, just call the plays accurately.

But for baseball you need to be a bit of a personality and have some interesting stories to tell. Especially on radio. That's why baseball is so brutal on radio. With the exception of Ueker of course. I could listen to that guy all day.

Hey look Regs, we finally found something the Brewers have that's better than the Yankees. And the fuck'in guy doesn't even take the field. I bet the parking attendants in Milwaukee are top notch as well.

I swear Collinsworth was slurring his words during that opening night Thursday telecast. It was funny. He sounded drunk.

Did you guys see Millen constantly touching Chad OchoCinco Johnson all over last night? He was rubbing his shoulders, touching his arms, trying to hold his hands, etc. I wish Ocho would've slapped him upside the head after all the hands on business Millen was giving him. It was awkward with a Capital A!

Actually, there is something else that the Brewers blow away the Yankees in "best 3-4 duo". Braun and Fielder destroy Rodriguez and Texeira in almost every stat. Combined average, obp, home runs, Rbi, and ops are easily in the Brewers favor. That doesn't even take into account the fact that pop-ups to 2nd base are hitting the jetstream and traveling out of Yankee stadium.
If only we had another 200 or so million to spend on the rest of our team.

shit, with 200 million you could buy Milwaukee! hahahaha And you'd still have 199 million left. Lets not forget to factor in that Texiera and A-rod play in NY and the other guys play in Milwaukee when we look at those stats. People actually see the yankees play!

Regs you should really just stop. The Yankee jealousy is dripping off of you and you're embarrassing yourself.

First of all that's a sad, sad stat to hold onto, showing just how far you have to dig to find a spec of hope. And then the kicker is, you found absolutely nothing.

Braun and Fielder's stats in most categories are 10-15% higher than A-Rods and Tex. That may have something to do with Braun and Fielder playing 12% more games than the Yankee duo. Oh yeah, and A-Rod is playing with a fucked up hip and has battled back to hit .284 after missing the first 2 months.

Sorry, misleading statistcs have no place here.

Here's the stats that really matter:

OBP for A-rod/Tex: .402 - .383
OBP for Braun/Fielder: .385 - .406

SLG for A-rod/Tex: .569 - .519
SLG for Braun/Fielder: .542 - .596

AVG for A-rod/Tex: .284 - .294
AVG for Braun/Fielder: .318 - .296

Wow! What a difference. And everyone knows that A-Rods .284 is due to missing those first 10 weeks. It's actually pretty impressive that he got his average back up to .284 after having to take spring training during the season.

Not to mention Tex is the best defensive 1B man in the game which makes him a hundred times more valuable than Fielder.

Go listen to some more nonsense about the fictitious jet stream in the stadium. Commentators show just how ingorant they are when they bring that up. Just regurgitating info like a gossip columnist.

How's that predicion of Sabathia and Tex being busts for the Yankess this year coming along Rob?
