Guys, I have been a Magic fan since the inaugural year of 1989! Not saying this series is over yet. I am so proud of this Magic team, the heart they show & the way they have grown up in these playoffs. Nobody outside of Orlando gave them a chance in this series except Charles Barkley! Magic, it's time to close this series tonight in Cleveland in Game 5!!
Game 4 recap: D12 & Rafer got the Magic off to a great start. Cleveland comes back to take the lead w/ Tittie Gibson hitting a 3 at the buzzer to go into halftime. Rafer kickstarted the 2nd half with an incredible 3rd Q! MP kept knocking down shots. Hedo ran a good offense. Rashard stepped up huge offensively in the 4th Q & OT. Dwight was great defensively down the stretch in the 4th & great offensively in OT. We win, again!!
Rashard had a great answer to Rachael Nichols question "What does this win mean?" after the game. He responds with something like "It means nothing. You need 4 wins to win the series.
2 friends that went to the game both said it was the greatest game they have ever been to! Go Magic!!! Close it, and FINALS here we come to crash the NBA's party!!!! Go Magic!!!

I can't believe people can still get excited about NBA basketball. It is about as real as professional wrestling and American Idol. I mean honestly, every time Lebron gets the ball, he simply barrells his way to the basket, knocks a couple of people down and gets the foul called every time. I have NEVER seen such ridiculous superstar treatment calls in my life.
I don't know why he doesn't do it every time down the court. All of the Magic players would foul out and Lebron would have 80 points.
Am I the only one who sees this, and I gave up on the NBA after the 2001 season?
If the Magic did not shoot "lights out" threes, they would have been swept. I am happy for Orlando, but at the same time, I would be pissed that an obviously better team (Magic) is getting fucked every which way, from every angle. MAKE IT FAIR REFS. THEN THE NBA MIGHT ACTUALLY BE RELEVANT AGAIN.
Regs, please stop sugar coating your comments. Let us know how you really feel man.
Contrary to your feelings though, the NBA is having one of it's most successful seasons since Jordan retired. The ratings are through the roof for the playoffs, especially the conference finals.
Even I'm watching it and I haven't watched NBA since Ewing retired. These series have been very entertaining.
As for the refs, nothing new here. Superstars have always gotten special treatment. It's just something that is accepted as part of the game. Kobe get's it, Jordan got it all time, even Iverson got phantom fouls in his prime. It's been going on forever, but the better team ends up winning in the end. Orlando is up 3-1. Yes because they shot lights out, but that's their entire game. It's a great 3-point shooting team.
Regs, you are dead on bout Bron & the effing refs. We are pissed at the refs obviously giving Bron every call.
Koko, the Magic are not just a 3 point shooting team. We are an inside-outside team. Dwight commands so much attention that it frees up perimeter players. We swing the ball side to side to the open man who a great percentage of the time will knock down that long range shot.
I'm watching all the games too and that is what is frustrating. I used to love the NBA. In fact, I was a 2 year season ticket holder for the Bucks and actually purchased the NBA package on direct tv for a year after I moved.
I want to like it really bad, but I can't help but get that sinking feeling that something is up. Almost like going to a pro wrestling match, where there is drama for awhile, until finally the hero wins.
I guess i'll stick to watching college. And Koko, there has been superstar treatment before, but it is nothing compared to what Lebron is getting. Not Jordan, not Kobe, not Shaq. Nobody is close to Lebron. Orlando is playing their hearts out, but I can't help but think that this is some fairy tale story where James will rescue his team from certain disaster and lead them to victory. And that sucks, because the Magic deserve this.
I think you might be looking through skewed lenses Regs. LeBron is not getting it any more than any other superstar was. I remember the Jordan years very, very well being a Knicks fan. If anyone even breathed on him it was a foul. Meanwhile I think Charles Smith just got fouled again with no call, (1993 Game 5 Reference).
Anyway, I just watched the game last night and guess who was Not getting the calls? LeBron. I saw him dive through the lane many times with contact and no calls were given out. The biggest critisim of the refs during these playoffs have been consistant inconsistancy. But isn't that the norm. When have NBA refs ever been consitant? The answer is never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, neverendingstory, forever, ever.
And Sean, yes the Magic are a 3-point shooting team, don't be such a fanboy. An inside out team has more than one person who can post up. And Howard is not even good at posting up, he looks totally spastic when doing it. It's nothing to be ashamed of, they have great ball movement and hit that open man for the 3 or long range 2. They count on that shot to win games.
Orlando better win at home because I don't think they have much chance of winning game 7 in Cleveland.
What's funny is after I made my posts, i surfed over to espn and Bill Simmons had almost the exact same points as I did. Read his article. It confirms my thoughts.
By the way, the Bulls and Bucks were much bigger rivals than the Knicks and Bulls when Jordan was in his prime. They played them more, were closer, and the Bucks had a better record in 7 out of Jordan's first 8 years. I saw him play all the time. Jordan did get calls, but he was never so blatently obvious in his actions. He at least showed grace and finesse. Lebron puts his head down and charges to the hoop. It is different.
Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa,Whoa
WHOA!!!!! WHAT!!!???
Regs I love your comments and I love debating with you. But did you just devestate all credibility you had by writing the Bulls and Bucks were bigger rivals than the Knicks and Bulls? That's a joke right? Yeah cause everyone remembers those classic playoff games between the Bucks and Bulls. Rivalries are made and sustained in the playoffs. Just because they played more in the regular season does not mean they are bigger rivals. On that line of logic, since the Lakers and Celtics only play twice a year, I guess the Lakers/Clippers and Lakers/Warriors rivalry is way more intense right?
I could go out and survey 100 basketball fans and if you're not part of the group, 100/100 would say the Knicks/Bulls were a much bigger rivalry than Bucks/Bulls back in the 90's. In fact I bet at least 10 of them would say, "Who are the Bucks?"
ps. Bill Simmons is a moron.
I read that Simmons article also. I think he makes a reference to the Charles Smith getting blocked 4 times in a row. His point was something like thats how the whole game was reffed, as in it just bout took blood for a foul to be called.
Also read one from a writer in Minnesota who noticed LeBron get all these phantom calls so he wrote an article about it. He doesnt have a vested interest in Cavs or Magic but noticed Magic were getting screwed.
I've been watching these games pretty closely without a vested interest in either side. I have definitely seen calls that LeBron deserved and others he didn't. I've also seen non calls when he did get fouled.
If you pick it apart, it's the same as it's always been. You could call a foul on every possesion if you wanted to. NBA refs have been consistently inconsistent. This will not change until the day when all players wear those video game motion suits with the balls on them and refs are replaced with floating sensors.
But baseball should get digital umpires first. I'm so tired of their lame ass shit. Technology is at the point where they could be rendered useless very easily.
The Bucks!!!!ha
Does milwaukee still have a basketball team? Is Wisconsin still a state?
Well, Let's see?
Green Bay Packers- the winningest team in the NFL over the last 15 years.
Milwaukee Brewers- Playoffs last year (unlike the Yankees)- 1st place this year.
Wisconsin Badgers- 2 Rose Bowl wins in the last 10 years.
Marquette- perennial top 15 team. Final four in 2003. 8 straight NCAA tournaments.
Try to find New York teams that can match that type of consistent excellence. You won't come close.
soooo....it is still a state? Where is it on the map? Is it near Arkansas? How you have the balls to compare the brewers to the yankees is AMAZING! really its something to be admired!
Regs I truely think you're just trying to say outrageous things to get a rise out of everyone now. Are you trying to be the Jim Rome of this board?
Consistency? You point out that the Brewers made the playoffs last year and the Yanks didn't. Ok, so what about the 13 years before that? They don't count? That's not consistency? The Giants just won the Super Bowl the season before last, giving them 3 wins and 4 appearances since '86. The Knicks suck now but were dominant and always sniffing the Finals throughout the '90's with 2 final appearances. Where were the Bucks then? Where are the Bucks now? Who are the Bucks?
You're crazy man, I like you. You're crazy. Let's hang out and shoot each other in the neck with tranquilizer darts.
