Where is the Love?

Posted by Keith G.

Ladies and Gentleman the top vote getter among QB's for MVP...besides the MVP.

Dolphins fans were in a tizzy a few weeks ago on how awesome a season they were having. Last to First....Hosting a home playoff game.....Pennington for MVP!!!

Then one blowout loss and they came crashing back to earth.

But, this one really confuses me and I guess really puts into perspective what a joke the NFL pro-bowl is. Brett the Jet declines yet another invitation to the pro-bowl as I'm sure Pennington sat patiently by his phone waiting for his invite. Nope, the call went to Kerry Collins.......Kerry Frickin Collins???????

Not only was Pennington passed over for an original Pro Bowl selection (Manning, Favre, Cutler), and first alternate (Rivers), but also second alternate (Collins). So, the guy who had more MVP votes than every QB in football (not named Peyton) combine is not even the 2nd alternate in the AFC?? Makes sense?

Poor Chad just can't catch a break.........DonJuan or Blaze, do you have anything to say about this????

It doesn't even matter, nobody takes that game seriously. Even the selection process is a joke. Why aren't the players selected after the season ends?

The last couple of weeks are the most important.

The Pro Bowl is a joke...who cares....the reality is that the Dolphin season was a great success no matter what the pro bowl selcetions are.

They are moving the probowl to a week before the superbowl from now on and it will always be played in the host city of the superbowl.

I've heard that rumor, but I didn't know it was a definite thing.

That's gonna be weird. But it will bring even more money into the city that hosts the Super Bowl.

Smart business move.

I heard they were going to do it next year to test it out. $$$$$$$

Hawaii is pretty upset about losing the ProBowl next year...but it still could be back in Hawaii the following year.

The pro bowl means nothing. The baseball all-star game even less. The Fact that the packers have 3 defensive backs in the Pro bowl is the only proof needed.

Maybe those INT's are fresh in the mind of the selection commitee?

Regs, how can you say the baseball all-star game means less than the pro bowl. At least people actually watch the All-Star Game. And there's something to play for.

The Pro Bowl is definitely the most worthless all-star type game in all of sports.

I said that because the starters are 100% picked by the fans. The game itself is way more interesting in baseball. I was only mentioning it in the context of the origional discussion. In the NFL, at least, only 1/3 of the vote comes from the fans.

My main criticism is when people use all-star appearances as some sort of stat, when in fact, it is just about big market popularity. Yau Ming will be an all-star every year he plays because he is Chinese. Players should be judged by stats and winning, not all-star appearances. That's it.

The other Chinese guy Yi whatever his name is was almost voted into the NBA All-Start game by the Chinese "fans."

Yao's stats are atleast good enough for him to play in the game, so there hasnt been a problem with that yet.
