I know I haven't posted a movie review in quite sometime. That's because I honestly have not been to the theater in months. There's plenty I want to see, I just haven't gotten around to seeing them. Now that the G-Men are out of the playoffs, I'll have more time to get to the theater, but for now I wanted to bring up a certain type of film that I think is just as important as the ones that win Oscars. "Good-Bad" films.
Last weekend, right before leaving the house for Mikey's B-Day party, I got caught up in the disastrous masterpiece known as "Road House" starring Patrick Swayze. Even though the plot is ridiculous, the acting subpar, and the reality factor out the window, I could not stop watching it even though I've seen it many times before. Like a horrible car accident on the road, you marvel and say, "How did that happen?" Something entrances you to these types of films. We all have our favorites and I want to know yours.
Give me your top 5 favorite "Good-Bad" films of all time in no particular order. After all the submissions I'll review and rank them 1-10.
Here's my 5, if any of mine are in your list try to give me something different so I can get a good pool of films to choose from. I'm sure there are great selections I'm forgetting about.
Now remember these are not just bad movies. It's those films you see on the cable guide, usually on TNT or USA network that you know are bad movies but you end up turning on and watching the whole thing time and time again.
And please NO SEQUELS!!!
1. Road House
2. Over the Top
3. The Last Dragon, aka "Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon"
4. Side Out
5. Tango and Cash

Revenge of the Nerds is another favorite.
One Crazy Summer
Red Dawn
and The Experts (with Travolta)
This is a great, funny and tough post. You did not mention if the movie choice ran on basic cable or premium channel, however here you go.
1. Over the Top, "Hawk and Son"
2. The Stepfather
3. Die Hard
4. Godfather
5. Any 007 Films
I realize some of these are not "bad" movies but they are on all the time.
Other favorities:
-Casino
-The Christmas Story
-Raising Arizona
-The Longest Yard(new)
I need to add "one crazy summer". That is the definition of awesomely bad. Good job Keith
I need more time.
i can't do this. I want to add "Dragnet" and "breakin 2, electric boogaloo", also.
ohhh and "doc hollywood"
Wow, great responses guys. It's cool keep putting them out there. I'll have the final list and rankings up on Friday.
So until then feel free to keep adding to the pile.
Regs, Dragnet is a great call. Can't even remeber how many times I watched that when it hit HBO. And to this day I can not explain why.
Ok if I had to only pick five they would be
1. Commando
2. Rocky Balboa
3. Karate Kid Pt.3
4. The Legend of Bagger Vance
5. Summer School
summer school.....great call !
I dont know if the Goonies is considered bad enough but if it's on Im watching !
Loverboy , thanks rich.
It figures two pervs like us know that movie , he was my idol growing up , who wouldnt want that life.
ha ha ha...Good call on Commando, Mike. You might as well add:
Cobra, LaBamba & Bait.
I love the enthusiasm guys. I just need to make some comments about some of the selections.
It's really hard to consider a pure comedy as one of these Good-Bad movies because their original intent is to just make you laugh. Take a movie like Summer School. I love that movie, I'll watch just about any time it's on. Is it a great film? Of course not but it is a pretty good comedy that has held up through time and still makes you laugh today. So there's really not enough "bad" in it to be considered.
Movies like Over The Top are great in this category because they actually tried to take arm wrestling and make it serious. It's ridiculous but we still watch it. Also these movies almost always have unintentional funny lines in them. For example Swayze in Road House, "Pain don't hurt." That's so awful, it's hillarious.
The Cusack movies like Better off Dead or One Crazy Summer are classics and have no other intention but to be ridiculous and make you laugh so they don't qualify either.
A good example of a Good-Bad comedy would be Lover Boy. A movie that has such a ludicrous premise and still thinks it's a great comedy. It's not, it sucks balls. But I'll still watch it. Why? Why do I watch it? I hardly laugh at all when watching it. That's why it makes the cut. If you laugh a lot during a comedy then it probably doesn't belong on this list.
And no Goonies is nowhere near this list. Goonies is a fucking classic.
Keep 'em coming guys. Great job.
Lover Boy
Big Trouble in Little China
Commando
DC Cab
License to Drive
The Gods must be Crazy
Goulhies
Brewsters Millions
Toxic Avenger
Beastmaster
This is my list in no particular order and 10 movies. At least I didn't put any sequels in Koko.
Good call Rich "Big Trouble in Little China" would be on that list too. Although every time I see that movie on tv I'll watch it.
Good job Rich, way to follow directions.
I have a feeling that Big Trouble in Little China is going to make the final 10. Great call.
And how can we have this list without at leat one "Corey's" movie. I love License to Drive. I just don't know if it has enough bad in it. I still laugh at the end when they drive backwards to the hospital.
Oh and what about JCVD!
I'm adding Bloodsport and Kickboxer to the mix. He has others that qualify but those are the best two.
The mom in Licensed to drive makes it a lock for the bad part. Totally ridiculous. A new movie to include is "the comebacks". That movie is supposed to be a parody, but it is a terible parody. But, I have already seen it 3 times.
Just One of the Guys and Biker Boyz
Ha Ha Ha I love it. I think HBO is a much bigger part of our youth then we realize.
I also loved "WhiteWater Summer" with Kevin Bacon and the dude from Rudy
EXCELLENT CALL KEITH. I loved that movie! Some of these are good movies. Even ones I picked. License to Drive was good. You might as well put Lost boys on there. In my opinion a Corey's Good-bad movie would be Dream a little Dream, which I like, but not mainstream.
