Sharks Remain in 1st

Posted by Keith G.

The Sharks smelt blood in the second inning and attacked as they are known to do ending the Kai’s hopes of upending the First place team. “They have dominated the league all year and I was hoping we would come out with a little more pop and energy but it wasn’t meant to be on this Friday, but we will see them again”, said Capt. Tucci after the game.

Former Rookie of the Year phenom pitcher now moved into the bullpen Jason “Koko” Kokothoff returned to the mound and dusted off his pitching arm to try and contain the hot hitting sharks but that was a tough task against this team. “It’s not the most ideal situation being thrust into the rotation on a moments notice against the best team in the league, but I was up for the task and was happy to help out the team when the Captain came calling, I’m like Chameleon boy and can adapt to any situation said Koko after the game while icing down his groin.

There have been rumors swirling around the sharks since last season and many of their names have appeared in the Mitchell report but nothing has been proven so Red Bug officials are left to just wait and see. “I think their power at the plate comes from their pre and post game beverages, When I arrived at the field they were huddled around a truck downing a suspicious beverage and when I was leaving the team was again gathered around that same truck downing the same thing” Mikey said at the post game gators report.

Mad Dog was late to the field as he was receiving some cortisone injections in his elbow but when he arrived it seemed to be the lift the team needed both offensively and defensively. He made up for lost time right out of the gate as he roped a 3 run HR to Right Center and with our speed trio of Crazy legs Koko and the DonJuan himself on base it was a thing of beauty as they rounded the bases in record time. “My 30 year old legs have been feeling good lately and I just knew we needed to score to stay alive so when MadDog roped that hit I just ran with all my power” said DonJuan who celebrated his birthday earlier in the week and raised his OBP% to an astounding .876 for the season.

“That's softball for you. Y' know, you take your worries to the game, and you leave 'em there. You yell like crazy for your guys. It's good for your lungs, gives you a lift, and nobody calls the cops. No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference and we intend to make that difference this week” said Johnny Blaze after the game.

However, the song remained the same as once again our rally was too little too late for the Kai’s as the Sharks came out on top and maintained their first place lead. We did turn around our beer drinking at Gators as the team was able to tie our 86 pitcher record and get back on track with our drinking. “I know one thing, there is not a damn team in this league that could hang with us when it comes to drinking beer, and I am willing to bet anything on that” JW was heard yelling at the post game meeting.

The Kai’s look to get back on track this Friday night against Mastercraft under the Friday Night Lights at 8:30!

Honestly believe what I said in the post game meeting. I don't think there is a team that plays on Friday that can drink as much as us. I will put it up to both fields! I think we should lobby the league officials to make this happen!
