Things that make you go Hmmmmm

Posted by Keith G.

Something Hit me the other day that truly frightened me. No, Not Regers Rant on the decline of America but the fact that next year we are facing real and imminent possibilities of having our Lombardi's Party cancelled and the NBA Season cancelled in the same year! Yes, depending upon whom you listen to there is a real chance that the NFL and NBA will have a lock-out in 2011.

What would you do if you had the NFL, Lombardis' Party, and the NBA ripped from your life for a year? Can you imagine Sunday's in the Fall with no Football?????

Now, it got me to thinking how could this happen when the NFL is the most dominant male marketing tool debated after Sex. And how could it be paired in the same year with the NBA lockout?

Well, Conspiracy theorist could theorize that it is a big ploy by the forces that be to promote something bigger? Could it be we are being prepared to become a Hockey Country? Do the Suits want us to start watching Hockey?????? No, if so ESPN would have Hockey on it's network regularly and ABC would broadcast it.

I think Nike and other big business is ramping up to jam Soccer down our throats. Think about it....even Reger doesn't bet on Hockey games.....but he does gamble on Soccer games. I never understood why ESPN broadcast Soccer games and have seemed to jump in bed with Soccer when there is little to no perceived interest in it. Also, do you ever notice on a nightly basis Soccer finds itself on Top Plays and usually THE #1 Play. I don't notice Soccer highlights and then all of the sudden in top plays there is like 3 of them. Also, more Women are involved in Soccer and can buy shoes and clothing so you have a much larger demographic than the NBA and NFL. If the NFL and NBA lockout next year would you consider adding Soccer to your life?

I'm not saying....I'm just saying......watch ESPN and Nike start promoting Soccer just a bit more.......and just wait for the hype they build up for the World Cup. They need a back-up plan and Hockey is not it.

Also, is it amazing or just a coincidence that the US Economy has been in a tailspin for awhile and the industry crushed the most (Besides Real Estate and the Banking industry) is the US Car Makers. Well, the U.S. Car makers were so inept that they couldn't save themselves and have been facing imminent doom for quite some time.

And then..........look up in the Sky....It's a Bird, It's a Plane.......No.......It's a Toyota with a Gas Pedal that is Stuck!!!!!!

Consider these quick tid-bits of Info:

-GM is 75% owned by the US Gov't

-Ray LaHood The U.S. Transportation Secretary said that owners of Toyota Cars should stop driving them immediately because they are not safe.

- The US and Japan have had a long lasting and heated Trade dispute since the 1970's

-There has been a long and bitter dispute over Japan's currency manipulation to ruin the U.S. Dollar. (Very in depth all you need to know is the U.S. Gov't is pissed and can't figure out how to stop the Japanese gov't short of a war)

Just a few Tidbits to sweeten the pot. Curious to hear the Dojo's thoughts. Also, When your car speeds out of control couldn't you just throw it into Neutral????? Why did that guy in CA drive for 30 some miles before thinking of that?

And Yes, I do realize that Toyota has some U.S. based factories....but ultimately it is a wholly owned and operated Japanese company where all profits flow back to Japan.

I'm not watching soccer ever. It sucks.

Hockey is great and I could definitely see getting back into that someday.

Without fantasy football I'm scared to see what we would invent to keep our attention.

How about fantasy Softball?

Keith, are you eluding to Toyota getting sabotaged?

Are you friends with Jessie Ventura?

Not saying....just kind of wondering out loud for the sake of a healthy discussion on the dojo.

However, if that were actually the case I would say that is Obama's most brilliant move yet. Maybe he is doing something to help the economy after all.......Brilliant.

For the record, I do not discriminate in my wagering. I placed a significant bet on the U.S. To win in Hockey. I also bet on the Oscars.
With that being said, if every game was played with the intensity and effort of the gold medal game, Hockey would be a lot bigger. The problem is that it is not. At least in Soccer, every game means so much to the particpants and fans, the passion is apparent.
As for the car industry, I put 95 percent of the blame on the greedy UAW and their ridiculous organization.

Oh, and another thing. If there was no NFL I would be fine because I chose to diversify my football portfolio last year with the UFL and the mighty Brooks Bollinger.

Ah so it comes out. Did you lose a lot of money on The Hurt Locker?

Is that why you bashed it?

And yes the Olympic hockey is more exiting because it's only 2 weeks.

All sports seasons should be cut down except football. But that'll never happen.

I did not bet on best picture because hurt locker and avatar were heavy favorites. I actually won 50 bucks on Precious winning best adapted screenplay. $5 at 10 to 1. I did lose on Clooney for best actor though.
I'm adaptable. I will find something to follow if there is no NFL. Something needs to be done about the rookie salaries. If the players don't agree, they should be locked out. 1st round picks should not command as much of the salary cap as they do. It tales away from proven players

I couldn't agree with you more on the NFL. The Rookie salaries need a cap very badly. If they don't do something about that it's going to topple the entire system.

And the players union should be all for it. Less money going to rookies means more money for proven veterans who deserve it. The only players who would be against it would be an insanley selfish superstar player. Because then the franchise tag would keep skyrocketing in value with the increasing rookie salaries.

The NFL does need a rookie pay scale just as the NBA has done in a successful way.

Keith, nice picture selection. It took a minute to realize the parallel between the post and the pic is the girls have soccer jerseys painted on them.

Keith is right! The Minister of Defense has foretold of the Soccer invasion! I saw it for myself on Sports Center, Soccer everywhere! Why are they so small, the soccer players?
And Sully noticed they had paint on after he pulled his hand out of his pants.

Swami, No hand in pants while I'm at work. I've seen the picture before somewhere. SI or Playboy. Not sure which but it is a nice pic.

Bring on the Replacements!!!Just kidding. All those bastards (Owners and players) can all go to hell. Hopefully the LFL will be around next year.

By the way, that idiot could have turned his car off while in neutral and came to a stop on the side of the road with his emergency brake.

Nice touch with the soccer girls.
