FAVRE IV

Posted by Keith G.

Wow...What a game for Brett Favre to possibly or possibly not end his career on. I started out the night not liking Favre and wanting him to lose for obvious and previously stated reasons.

However, on this night I still did not want him to win but I began to feel like the Russian Crowd in Rocky IV. You don't want the enemy to win but at the same time you can't help but find yourself rooting for the guy. I do want to be clear never at any point did I want Brett to win.....but I couldn't help myself admiring him and remembering all the fond and unbelievably great memories my childhood and adult hero (after Rocky) gave me. This game summed up Brett's career.

He was unbelievably courageous. It reminded me of my favorite scene in Rocky I when Apollo is beating the snot out of this unknown fighter Rocky Balboa and he knocks him down for the umpteenth time and thinks ok.....fights over lets go home and celebrate and move on. And then he turns around and Rocky is standing there bloodied and beaten.....and he waves his arms and says "Come On...Lets go." I will never forget the look on Apollo's face......like...My God are you kidding me.......this guy is getting annihilated but he won't quit???? I have never seen this before????

That was the look I'm sure all the Saints players had last night. I mean Favre was getting beaten down all night....I have never seen him take such a beating and keep getting up. And his brilliance kept the Vikings in the game making big play after big play keeping them alive. I couldn't help thinking this is going to end the same way it always does for Brett.....he is going to rip the heart out of someone.....either the other team.......or his own team.....there is no in between with Brett.

Well, it ended in catastrophe as he threw the devastating unwise interception at the end of regulation. However, I think Brett is very similar to the way the Cobra Kai roll. We party hard, go for it, have a blast, but sometimes we get burned in the morning.

You know.......we have all been there......having a blast at a party/bar....ordering up shots (going for deep not wisely calculated passes) and just telling the bartender to keep em coming. At the time we feel invincible. But the next morning we realize you might have said something to offend or done something stupid..........I think we all have had one of those nights........I mean I know we all have. But to be honest with you I would not trade any of the good times....to take back a few of those mistakes.

Just like, I am glad to see the Vikings lose and end their season.....but in a weird way I forgive Brett...for now........and still admire him.

Now.........Let the debate and enless coverage begin all over again....Will he or won't he retire??????????

Anyone get flashbacks to the Giants Vs. Packers Conference Championship game when Favre threw that last interception against New Orleans?

Actually I did. In fact, I probably told 50 Viqueen fans that I saw
"Just wait, favre will suck you in and make it seem like he will lead you to the promised land and then he will do something ridiculous to blow the game" You can call me regstadomis.

Favre's last pass as a Packer? Interception. Favre's last pass as a Jet? Interception. Favre's last pass as a Viking? Interception!!! I screamed with great pleasure when that pass was picked off! Even my female roommates realized Favre is a douche! It was sheer joy for me to see that happen!

BTW, here is the transcript from the Vikings radio announcer.

"Brett Favre goes back to pass, he pumps ... intercepted. I can't believe what I'm seeing right now. ... You've gotta be kidding me, I can't believe what I just saw. ... WHY DO YOU EVEN PONDER PASSING. I MEAN, YOU CAN TAKE A KNEE AND TRY A 56-YARD FIELD GOAL. THIS IS NOT DETROIT, MAN. THIS IS THE SUPER BOWL."

Let's geaux Saints!!!!
