Look up the spoof of Avatar that was done on SNL last Saturday. It is hilarious.
Fantastic Review as always......Ths one was very insightful and I love the play on words.....
I had very low expectations going into this movie since I wasn't overly excited about the previews and I'm not really a Sci-Fi fan.
However, I loved the movie but I really liked the story and the message more.
It was a shade longer than I would have wanted but you almost needed it to complete the story.
I don't get why 3D was invented in the 50's but hasn't made a huge hit until 2010?????
There were 3 previews for 3D also......Finally Hollywood is getting on board with 3-D????????
In the 80's 3-D was huge with the Jaws movies and a few others. Then it became a joke and any movie in 3-D wasn't taken seriously. Mostly because of the horrible red and blue glasses. The quality of 3-D was very poor.
Now that the tech has been upgraded it took a while until a studio would take the gamble on making another 3-D film. Remember it's not just a switch you hit on the camera. The studio has to spend millions on new cameras and editing equipment. The pixar movies have been successful in 3-D for a few years now and the Branden Fraser movie Journey to the Center of the Earth made a decent earning as a 3-D film as well a year or two ago. But now that a huge hit like Avatar has broken the bank, every big studio is clamoring for 3-D. They all copy each other in Hollywood, so now you will see big movie after big movie come out in 3-D.
Just like what Superman Returns did for IMAX, Avatar will do for 3-D.
