FAVRE IV

Posted by Keith G.

Wow...What a game for Brett Favre to possibly or possibly not end his career on. I started out the night not liking Favre and wanting him to lose for obvious and previously stated reasons.

However, on this night I still did not want him to win but I began to feel like the Russian Crowd in Rocky IV. You don't want the enemy to win but at the same time you can't help but find yourself rooting for the guy. I do want to be clear never at any point did I want Brett to win.....but I couldn't help myself admiring him and remembering all the fond and unbelievably great memories my childhood and adult hero (after Rocky) gave me. This game summed up Brett's career.

He was unbelievably courageous. It reminded me of my favorite scene in Rocky I when Apollo is beating the snot out of this unknown fighter Rocky Balboa and he knocks him down for the umpteenth time and thinks ok.....fights over lets go home and celebrate and move on. And then he turns around and Rocky is standing there bloodied and beaten.....and he waves his arms and says "Come On...Lets go." I will never forget the look on Apollo's face......like...My God are you kidding me.......this guy is getting annihilated but he won't quit???? I have never seen this before????

That was the look I'm sure all the Saints players had last night. I mean Favre was getting beaten down all night....I have never seen him take such a beating and keep getting up. And his brilliance kept the Vikings in the game making big play after big play keeping them alive. I couldn't help thinking this is going to end the same way it always does for Brett.....he is going to rip the heart out of someone.....either the other team.......or his own team.....there is no in between with Brett.

Well, it ended in catastrophe as he threw the devastating unwise interception at the end of regulation. However, I think Brett is very similar to the way the Cobra Kai roll. We party hard, go for it, have a blast, but sometimes we get burned in the morning.

You know.......we have all been there......having a blast at a party/bar....ordering up shots (going for deep not wisely calculated passes) and just telling the bartender to keep em coming. At the time we feel invincible. But the next morning we realize you might have said something to offend or done something stupid..........I think we all have had one of those nights........I mean I know we all have. But to be honest with you I would not trade any of the good times....to take back a few of those mistakes.

Just like, I am glad to see the Vikings lose and end their season.....but in a weird way I forgive Brett...for now........and still admire him.

Now.........Let the debate and enless coverage begin all over again....Will he or won't he retire??????????

The Truth Will Set You Free?

Posted by Keith G.

Ok, So one of the biggest mysteries of our lifetime has been solved. Big Mac comes clean after all these years and finally admits to using Roids. Wow....Can You Believe it? Well, I think everyone already knew this and the fact that he is going to be an active coach on Tony LaRussa's bench prompted him to come clean now before distracting the 2010 Cardinals run at stopping the Brewers from winning the division.

Does this set Big Mac free or does this hinder his chances at joining the Hall? Also, do you think many months from now when the storm fades he will be free from constant questioning on the bench about his roid use? I think he will be clear and free by the time the season gets under way and in a way it will be liberating for him. In this case the truth actually will set him free. Now, we just have to sit back and wait for Barry (6"1 185) in Sully's 1991 Baseball card and Sammy (6"0 and 175) in Neil's 1991 baseball card decide to come clean to receive the royal freedom treatment as well.

However, There is one instance where I don't understand the use of coming clean. Has anyone seen these new Domino's commercials? Why would any company come out and say the things they are saying especially paying good money to promote the fact they were serving us horrible product for the past 40 years. I never thought Domino's was atrocious but now I guess it is, and I for one will probably never order Domino's again since I know these facts they just taught me:

"Domino's pizza crust to me is like cardboard."
"The sauce tastes like ketchup."
"The worst excuse for pizza I've ever had.
"Totally void of flavor"

Really? That's the impression you want to make on us? I never thought that but now that is my impression of Dominos. Oh wait they are changing their taste because the head chef at Domino's is hurt by these claims. Yeah, because when I order Domino's there is going to be a chef making my pizza......not some 18 year old kid?????

I get the attempt to say they learned from their mistakes and now have a better product. But was it really necessary to go that far? I truly never thought Domino's was horrible but that is my impression of them now......and they are the ones that created that impression for me??????

Two great examples of when to use the truth and when to keep your mouth shut.

Don't Do Heroin

Troubled comic Artie Lange landed in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, sources told The Post. Lange's frantic mom called 911 Saturday morning after she entered his Hoboken apartment and found the bloodied funnyman, a law-enforcement source said. Lange sustained six "hesitation wounds" and three deep plunges. A source close to Lange's management team confirmed that the Howard Stern sidekick stabbed himself, adding that his mother had come to visit him that day to drop off food.

Do you think Artie will get a "Get Well" Card from Joe Buck?

Not too sully a very sad subject but I do believe Colin Cowherd predicted this one accurately on his show shortly after the Joe Buck incident.

Feet to the Fire Aftermath.

Posted by Koko

At the beginning of the NFL season, Colin Cowherd made some unbelievably weak predictions.

Here are the results:

1. Patriots win over 10 games. - True, 10-6
2. San Diego wins AFC West. - True
3. Steelers have a better record than both Cleveland and Cincinnati. - False, Bengals win divison.
4. Detroit finishes below .500 - True, 2-14
5. Bears offense is improved. - True, 26th in 2008, 23rd in 2009
6. Buffalo's offense is improved. - True, 30th in 2008, 25th in 2009
7. Redskins do not win the NFC East - True
8. Miami wins less games than last year. (11 games)- True, 7-9
9. Denver finishes below .500 - False, 8-8
10. Seattle wins at least 8 games. - False, 5-11
11. Mathew Stafford, NFC rookie of the year. - Not happening.

So Cowherd got 7 out of 11 of the lamest predictions ever made correct.
Seriously dude, either get some balls or stay out of prognosticating.
