Coming Soon

Posted by Koko

Just some movie news about films currently in production:

More set pics from "Man of Steel" showing more details of the Superman costume. I'm really liking the very "alien" look of it. Everyone forgets that Superman is indeed an alien and director Zack Snyder is updating the look of the character without destroying the main elements.

This is a set shot of The Rock on the set of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He will be playing Roadblock. Also Bruce Willis will be in this movie as the "Original Joe," General Joe Colton.

This is a teaser poster for the 4th chapter in the Underworld franchise. Kate Beckinsale is back in a world where humans have started to hunt both werewolves and vampires.

After Draft Labor Day Party, again!

Posted by Double S

What up Kais? Remember the party I tried to get all of you to go to last year after the draft? It happened again. It falls on the same day!

(Any way we can do the draft on Saturday????) I'm serious.

You all are invited to come to the party! Juan & Jenn have been to a party at this house before (Lindsey's BDay Bash.) Here's their invite!

I don't think I have to sell this party anymore since it pretty much sells itself. I'm bruised and beat up from people asking me when I am posting the invitation. So here it is! Feel free to add as many people to this event as you please. It is open invitation for everyone. By the time I'm finished, I expect that I will have sent 500+ invites. And since I know many of you will ask, yes. The 50' inflatable waterslide will be back!... (first aid kits not included). And who knows what other tricks we might have up our sleeve this year! For those of you new to this event, I don't want to have to give you the "I told you so" speech, if you decide to go out and get hammered the night before. There will be alcohol (liquor, kegs, etc) and food there, however everyone has been very good with contributing in previous years and we thank you for that. There is a pool and hot tub, so bring swimwear. There are also beer pong events, flip cup, cornhole, and whatever insane games you kids dream up. Plan for a long day if you decide to stay. Last year, the last people left at 9am the following morning.
Based on previous years, we only ask for the following rules:
*No glass in or near the pool
*No ripping lids off of coolers and riding them down the slide
*No jumping off the roof into the pool
*No jumping from trees onto the slide
*No more than 1/2 a bottle of baby oil on the slide
*If you break glass, clean it up
*Tip your bartender!!!
Though we urge you all to take a cab, if you must drive, please don't park on the yellow curb. There is parking available near the school on Bennett.
Note worthy from previous years: There will be several birthdays and anniversaries. Congrats to Mandy and Roger who met at Labor Day Party #1 and are now engaged! Congrats to Sean and Lindsey who met at Labor Day Party #3! There will be a separate evite for people who's facebooks I don't have, unless one of you add them. If you plan on coming, PLEASE RSVP so we can keep an accurate headcount and supply food and booze accordingly.

Reger Rant 2.0

Posted by Regs

So, I know its been awhile since this Blog had life and I had a self imposed boycott for undisclosed reasons, but I am back. These are some issues and observations that have been going on that I feel need to be addressed.

- I really think being a liberal is a disease that is passed down from generation to generation with diminishing returns every time it gets passed. I have a personal story here to back up my point. My mom has 5 sisters in her family. They are all very liberal (my mom is too). Looking at them, you couldn't really tell what their political views were. They seem fairly normal. However, they all have kids who have taken this liberal view to the next level. From dreads, to long greasy hair, to rings just about everywhere. They look like the typical crowd at an Obama rally. The problem...they are all total losers with no career aspirations. They grew up in a nurturing environment where anything goes. Their ridiculous looks were attributed to them "expressing themselves" and "finding their niche". Now, most of them are either unemployed or are spinning their wheels at dead end jobs. I'm not saying everyone is like that. Certainly there are plenty of sharp, professional liberals out there, but it seems like as generations pass, the left has become a little too left.

- About a year ago, I decided that I wanted to start investing in the stock market, because that was the "smart thing to do". To me, it seems a lot like gambling, so I was instantly hooked. Now, I am so mad at myself for doing this. There is literally no rhyme or reason for what stocks do on a daily basis. An example, I bought 40 shares of "Under Armor" stock at $80 per share. The stock had a 5 star rating and the company was doing very well financially. I bought it before the first quarter earnings were announced. When they were announced, the earnings had been twice what they had projected and they announced the release of several "game changing" products. Since that date, the stock has fallen from $80 per share to $54. This is with all good news!!! Fuck this shit. I'm taking my money out and going back to sports gambling. At least that is somewhat predictable.

- Now that football is back, I like how Philly has gotten all the "buzz" so far. For what? Let's take a look at what they have done. They signed 1 great corner(hats off), an injury prone lineman that the Packers didn't want, a back-up running back, a receiver coming off a microfracture surgery, a scrub back-up QB, and traded a great back-up QB for a much mailigned CB who has only played against the NFC West. Come on now! The Super Bowl champs return 20 of their 22 starters (DE,LG) and get the 15 players they lost to IR back. Can you guys say dynasty?

- I would have to say, that for all the criticizing that has gone on about Wisconsin sports over the years, I would challenge anyone to find a more dominating state this year for sports. We have the Super Bowl Champs (Packers), A division dominating basball team (Brewers), A Rose Bowl participant, who is fully stocked this year (Badgers), and 2 NCAA tournament teams who made the sweet 16 (Marquette and Wisconsin). It wouldn't even be a contest if the Bucks were good.

- The Cobra Kai needs to get back to its roots. We were at our best when the team was an extention of our families. We all got together frequently and we stayed together through thick and thin. Recently, the team has lost its mojo. I will take some of the blame because of family committments. But overall, we have seemed to be content by just piecing together a team. I think this fall we need to take a look at the roster and decide whether people fit the profile of a Kai. If not, they need to be replaced. I, for one, am ready to rededicate myself to the team and turn this ship around.

Peace out

Back from the Dark Ages....kind of....

Posted by Keith G.

Esteemed Gentleman of the Dojo,

I would like to apologize for my absence of late as a new job and other stuff and my new found skill of Bizarro Techie has landed me in the dark ages for tech advancements. I am still trying to figure out my new superpower of the ability to remove technology advancements out of my life.......I'm sure the reason for my powers will be revealed to me sooner or later but for the time being I am just accepting that I am supposed to be on a sabbatical from the Internet and TV.

Question: How hooked on TV/Internet are all of you? Do you freak out when it takes a bit longer than usual to download a site? Do you get annoyed waiting 3 minutes during commercial breaks?

Well, let me introduce you to my life as of late. I went through a dark period after I crashed 2 laptops back to back with no computer for 2 WEEKS! I got so desperate I got a library card..........I felt like a dirty old man surrounded by little kids an moms at the library....but hey 55 minutes of FREE Internet access. Just enough time to finish some work emails. Then.......when the hallelujah moment arrived and my laptop came back to me......the next day BRIGHTHOUSE networks was digging stuff up in my lawn and cut my cable. I have been without Cable TV/Internet access at my house for going on 2 WEEKS! Yes, I have not seen the newest Curb or Entourage...........and YES I have not had the pleasure of watching Sportscenter for about 2 weeks at home. And, I am still waiting for Brighthouse to figure this out. What is a guy supposed to do?

Well, I guess I will take it as a blessing in disguise as it has given me plenty of time to reflect on my life path and on how I should draft a WR this year in fantasy football. Yes, I vow to actually have a WR that scores a point for me in a game, something I just realized was my "Achilles Heel" not only last season but the last 3! Watch out league....this little sabbatical has turned me into a superhuman! Let's just hope I have corralled the real use of my bizzaro tech skills by the time the NFL season gets underway.

So, Be thankful you have all of modern technology at your fingertips and remember this guys tale before you get angry at a slow download.

It's once again time to gather together, bitch, whine, criticize others, put up a front and pretend to know what the hell you're doing for the 2011 Lombardi's Party Draft.

Draft date is set for Sunday, Sept. 4th at 11am.

-$100 entry fee is due at the Draft.
-You must draft your own team. NO AUTODRAFTING!
-If you cannot make the draft please let me know immediately!
-Draft will be held at Casa de Tucci
-Draft Lottery will be held during the weekend of Aug 13th. Lottery is not mandatory to attend, but we will discuss and vote on payouts and rule changes.
