We walk off into the Sunset....For Now.

Posted by Keith G.

Well, our season finally came to an end as we were eliminated from playoff contention as Mastercraft painting swept the legs right out from under us Friday night. We were not able to stand on both legs to withstand Aloma Baptists Fatherly inspired divine intervention in game 2 as we dropped the last 2 games of the year to put an end to a tough season.

When they start the game, they don't yell, "Work ball." They say, "Play ball" and I don’t believe we played ball this season we were too intense and didn’t enjoy ourselves enough. Next Season we will come out with a vengeance but will enjoy the game more and I can assure you there will be a better outcome” Big Daddy Gutierrez said as he walked off the field for the last time this season.

Koko was still reveling in his solid play at first base this season and heard Rich’s comments and couldn’t agree more. Back in the day, my idol was Bugs Bunny, because I saw a cartoon of him playing ball - you know, the one where he plays every position himself with nobody else on the field but him? Now that I think of it, Bugs is still my idol. You have to love a ballplayer like that and I want to be just like him” Koko said at the post game news conference.

In the first game we came out strong posting a 3 run lead starting off on fire offensively but soon Mastercraft’s veteran savvy team turned the tables and we couldn’t slow down their bats as they heated up and soon took back control of the game. That was a very focused team and they were hungry for the win as they rose up and took us down and then went on to beat the First place Sharks to continue their dominant ways.

In the second game it was obvious we were drained both mentally and physically from the long season as we just couldn’t did down deep enough to finish off the season with a win. The heavenly Father wanted the Baptists to go out with a victory and we obliged. We had a solid game both offensively and defensively but just didn’t take care of the little things that so often make the difference. The web gem of the night and possibly the season came in the 4th inning when Johnny Blaze dug a hot ground ball blazing at him at 3rd base, spun around for a 360’ and then gunned down the runner at first place. “I don't care how long you've been around the game, you'll never see it all” said a stunned Keith G. after witnessing that amazing play a mere few feet away.

“I’m proud of my guys and we are going to regroup this off-season and get ready for a championship run, next season and I have no further comment” said Capt’ Tucci as he walked off the field. The beauty of baseball is that mirrors life in many ways, except you get to start over every season and in Florida the next season is only a mere 2 weeks away!

The Lady Kai’s were out in numbers to support their guys again and the team would like to thank them for supporting us through thick and thin and we promise them that next season will be a championship one. There are three things in my life which I really love: God, my family, and Cobra Kai Softball. The only problem - once softball season starts, I change the order around a bit said Lady Kai A-Rock Tucci. Amen to that.

Great wrap up buddy as always. You did forget one thing, you had a pretty nasty catch during that game. See you later bro.
