Week 1 Recap

Posted by Keith G.

"Slump? I ain't in no slump. I just ain't hitting." The words of Yogi Berra proved rather fitting for Us as we started off the year with a tough loss failing to bet on Black in the season opener.

"I feel confident we can bounce back and have licked our wounds and properly cleansed them with a thorough downing of beers last Friday" said Coach Capt. Tucci. Bet on Black put their best hand down in the 3rd inning when the game started to unravel for us. The Mad dog put together another impressive outing on the mound but the team could not support him in the field or at the plate as our rust was slowly coming off and we never quite got our momentum going.

"I look for a fresher team out there this Friday, and I'm confident my teammates and I can bounce back from this one and we will come back with a vengeance on those Bible Thumping Baptists this week" said Johnny Blaze who said he was putting game 1 behind him and focusing on the rest of the season. Blaze was also quoted as saying "Hey yo, I didn't hear no bell, this season ain't over yet."

At any rate things are looking good for the season. The Kai's made a big free agent signing in bringing in a new Cleanup hitter Robb "Roundhouse" Reiger whose impact was immediately felt as he lead the team in RBI's and stolen bases....I mean he tied for the team league in stolen base attempts with Capt. Tucci. Reiger's name has been attached with the Mitchell report but nothing was proven so the team looks for a big season from him. As our young team continues to mature I think we have a great shot at competing for the title this year and with our blend of young guys and key veterans I think we should be just fine" said Big Daddy Guttierez at his locker after the game as he was icing down his throat getting ready for the post game tradition of the beer slamming competition.

A record crowd did come out to support the team under the Friday Night lights sporting their Cobra Kai gear. According to Redbuglakeinsider.com The Cobra Kai lead the league in apparel sales and their is clearly high expectations for the team this year. "We saw all the fan support out there and I can guarantee you we will have a better showing for the greatest fans around next game" The Don JuanDiggler was heard saying after he posted the team's best offensive performance with an impressive .1000% OBP (On-Base-Percentage). There are definitely alot of negatives to take away from this game but we choose to focus on the positive outcomes and work from there and hope to improve each and every game said "Xavy" the all start 2nd baseman last year for the Kai's.

Well, we will certainly find out as the Cobra Kai's set out to prove they are more like that fearsome fighting dojo squad than the Bad News Bears as they take on the Aloma Baptists this Friday night at 6:30. Get your tickets quick as it is expected to be a sell-out.

See You under the Friday Night Lights!
