JW's post in conjunction with Koko's got me to thinking. In today's modern world we do tend to think that newer is always better.
While the New Yankees stadium is a testament to new wonders and looks to be an unbelievable new structure it will never be able to replicate the Original Yankee Stadium you know the "House that Ruth built." While the new stadium I'm sure will be awesome it can't replicate human history or tributes to mankind.
Just think would you rater watch a Cardinals Vs Packers game on a sunny Fall day at University of Phoenix stadium or at historic Lambeau Field? Or would you rather watch a Red Sox Vs Padres game at PetCo park or Fenway?
Anyways, it also got me to thinkin of another great travesty where somebody thought technology was more important than the human factor. Some of us may be too young (you don't have to rub it in JW) to remember the original Incredible Hulk but it was Awesome! Lou Ferrigano as the Hulk was waaaaay better than the newer digitally created turd sandwich they had in the updated movie version. You know , the one that could leap from San Fran to La in one bound or pick up an entire moving train.....it just had no personality. I like the human factor and Lou Ferrigano as Dr. David Bixby's alter ego. This was a perfect match something you just can't explain. It was the human factor, his personality that made it different. The human touch will trump technology most any day.
I mean we live in a world where the 07 Giants came out of nowhere to ruin the perfect story of the 07 Pats. I mean no hot shot writer could have written a better story than the Giants coming out of nowhere to stun the world.
Anyways, to increase your enjoyment I also posted on the side every reason the great Dr. Bixby ever transformed into the Hulk.

Hey I thought that Lou did a good job, I had to watch the reruns, but he still did a pretty good job.
Thanks for taking me way back. I used to be a marvel junkie when I was a kid and I used to love the Hulk series. So remember, "Dont make me angry, you wont like me when Im angry"
Great post Keith, yes it is sad that the old Yankees stadium will be torn down, but it is neccessary at this point in time. All structures have a shelf life and unfortunately time has passed this facility by.
It held on as long as it could with a complete renovation in the 70's. However sadly it is time for a new stadium. The only thing you can hope for is that they do the best job they can in keeping some of that magic in the new stadium, which I believe they have done to the best of their abilities.
The new stadium is still in the Bronx, actually right across from the current stadium. The new structure will not be all futuristic looking, instead they've gone for a hybrid look between the old and current stadium look. The famous facade and monument park will be transported over and the entire stadium will be wrapped in the old 1920's original look including a reincarnation of the old stadium entrace with the columns.
The new stadium will create it's own history over the years and may be known as the house that A-Rod or Jeter built. Also, they are demolishing the old stadium structure but will keep the feild intact. The site will be preserved as a city park. Plus the new field is not going to be sold out, as far as I know, to any corporation. It will not be Bank of America Stadium, or Maxipad Park. Unlike another New York team's new stadium. Yankee Stadium will remain Yankee Stadium. I really could not ask for anything more from this new stadium as a Yankee fan.
As for the Incrdible Hulk. I completely agree. That abortion of a movie was horrible. Bill Bixby was a fantastic actor and that show scared the crap out of me as a little kid. But I still watched it. They are making a new Hulk movie, hopefully it will be done right this time. I still think the Hulk needs to be special FX becuause he doesn need to be much larger than a body builder but they need to get the FX right or don't do it at all.
FYI, in the old Hulk series Bill Bixby's character name was David Banner. In the comics the character's name is Bruce Banner. They used David instead on the TV series beacuse in the 70's, Bruce was known to be a very popular name for gay men. Sometimes the original is not better.

Sorry the mets organization decided to save the tax payers of NY 400 million dollars by naming their field, "Citi Field".
Now Rich you have to admit, you would much rather have the field named "Met's Stadium," or just keep it Shea, than have some corporate name attached to it. Come on man, you know it's lame. All the stadiums that do that are lame. Plus half the cost of the new Yankee Stadium is privately funded, so actually New York is saving just as much, if not more, money on Yankee Stadium.
We may have been bros for football season Rich, but it's on now. Baseball's right around the corner.
Just a reminder, Subway World Series Score:
1-0 Yankees.
See you and your HGH/steroid yankees in the playoffs. sucka!!!!!My boys did cocaine in the 80's, the Tony Montana dream.
Great added insight on the Incredible Hulk.
Wow, while I have to agree that history is on the Yankee's side 2008 looks to be shaping up to be the Mets season. They look like they will be unstoppable and their epic collapse this year should fuel their fire all the way to the World Series.
Plus, I gotta admit in years past the Yanks were pulling off mad trades and signing big names......who have they added to their mediorce and aging line-up this year???
Buya!!! From the voice of reason
If everyone remembers all the Yankess got criticized for in the 80's was signing big free agent names and it never worked. They didn't start winning until they started to build from within in the mid 90's.
As far as aging, uh last time I checked they now have the youngest rotation in the league. And I really don't think they'll have trouble scoring runs.
See you in October bitches!
