Apparently being selected to represent their country and bring home a gold medal is not enought for NBA stars Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen. They'd like to be paid for their contributions to Team USA. Or at least get a piece of the jersey sales.

With elocution like that, I can't believe he's throwing balls into hoops for a living instead of teaching English to muppets.
I know, that's a cheap shot, he's a professional athlete and I'm probably just jealous of him and Allen because they can do things on the basketball court that I can only duplicate on an Xbox. But that's the point. They hit the genetic lottery. Sure they've put in countless hours of grueling practice towards becoming the superstars they are today, but 99% of the population can put in double or even triple the work ethic and still not even be near their talent level on their very worst day. So when the "everyman" hears someone like Wade or Allen say something like this, even though they might have somewhat of a miniscule point, it flies over like a Hitler Youth Ralley in Boca Raton . . . ON YOM KIPPUR!
Even King Clueless James stayed away from answering this question and said, "It doesn't matter. I'm happy to be a part of the team, to be selected again." When LeBron makes you look like an asshat, needless to say, you're having a bad day.

I'm sure somebody pays for their every need while they're practicing & playing for the Red, White and Blue. You're staying in hotels for free, traveling for free, eating for free etc as compensation for "donating" your time for the American pride. That costs a lot of money, but I'm not sure how the Olympic committee makes it's money back except for which ever TV channel is paying the Olympics and they make their money back by selling on air advertising.
I would love to pile on, but I have no problem with Wade's comments. I think your overreacting Koko.
Wade says they should be paid for something that no athlete has ever been paid for in the history of the event.
And I'm overreacting?
Let's just keep one, one sporting event that has absolutely nothing to do with getting paid and purely for the thrill of victory.
Besides, if you pay the basketball players then you also have to pay the rowers, the archers, the fencers, and even the fucking ballroom dancers. How do you think the Olympics pays to have all those less popular sports that get a 0.0 in the television ratings? By selling the shit out of the basketall, swimming and gymnastics.
What does Wade want? A big $50K? A $100K? Fuck it, let's just bring the agents into this and negotiate individual contracts for this too. That way we can have a $100 million USA Basketaball team that walks all by themselves in the opening ceremonies because we couldn't afford to send anyone else.
Just shut the hell up and win the gold medal like you're suppose to.

I understand the whole hardship of playing for your country after a hard fought season in some foreign land.
But asking for money is ludacris and you always have the option to not play.
These are selfish comments by two of the better guys in the lg over the years , i mean the other guy is Jesus Shuttlesworth right???
How is Wade supposed to live on $20 million alone. I mean the man has kids to feed.
