Reger NFL Draft Review

Posted by Koko

So how did McReger Jr. do with the first round of the 2012 Draft?

First of all, much props to Reger for even attempting this, with the new rookie wage scale it's going to be very hard to accurately predict this thing since trades will be flying with much more frequency.  But it's still a lot of fun trying and I hope Reger will continue the predictions next year as well.
Reger got 4 out of the 30 first picks correct.  And that of course excludes the first 2 picks which were the free space on the Bingo Card.

Credit for a correct pick was also given if the player went in the predicted spot but to a different team or if they went in a different spot but to the predicted team.

Now let's take a look at the 2008 and 2009 Sleeper/Busts lists and find out if an NFL team really should be calling in GM Reger for an interview.

2008
SLEEPERS
1. Tom Zbikowski s ND
2. Wesley Woodyard olb kent
3. Jordy Nelson wr k-st
4. Jeremy Thompson DE Wake
5. Matt Forte RB Tulane
6. Alley Broussard RB Miss So
7. Earl Bennett WR Vandy
8. Gary Guyton LB G-tech
9. Bruce Davis OLB UCLA
10. Josh Barrett S ASU

BUSTS
1. Derrick Harvey DE FLA
2. Quentin Groves DE AUB
3. Early Doucet WR LSU
4. Felix Jones RB ARK
5. Joe Flacco QB DEL
6. Dustin Keller TE PUR
7. Chris Williams OT Vandy
8. Dre Moore DT Mary
9. Keith Rivers LB USC
10. Brandon Flowers CB VA-tech

I'm not even close to an expert at grading offensive and defensive linemen from around the league, so I'll leave that to some more informed members of The Dojo, but the obvious kudos for Reger are Forte, Nelson and Bennett on his sleeper list.  Felix Jones started out promising but might end up a bust.  Early Doucet showed some life last season but he's got a long way to go.

The only glaring mistake on the Bust list was Joe Flacco, who may not be an elite QB just yet but there's no way you can consider him a bust.

2009
SLEEPERS
1. Knowshown Moreno – RB - Georgia
2. Brandon Tate – WR – UNC
3. Hunter Cantwell – QB – Louisville
4. Andre Brown – RB – NC st
5. Cornelius Ingram – TE – Fla
6. Connor Barwin – LB – Cincy
7. Javon Ringer – RB – Mich st
8. Dannell Ellerbe – LB – Georgia
9.Clint Sintim – LB – VA
10. Coye Francies – CB- San Jose St
11. David Bruton – S – Notre Dame
12. Jarrett Dillard – WR – Rice

BUSTS
1. Josh Freeman – QB – K st
2. Everette Brown – DE – Fla St
3. Aaron Maybin – DE – Penn St
4. Darrius Heyward – Bey – WR – Maryland
5. Mohammed Massaquoi – WR – Georgia
6. Senderrick Marks – DT – Auburn
7. Fili Moala – DT – USC
8. Brian Cushing – LB – USC
9. Alphonso Smith – CB – Wake
1o. Eben Britton – T – Arizona
11. Hakeem Nicks – WR – UNC

Oh man, not sure if Reger gave The Cheddarheads any grief about Knoshown Moreno during fantasy last year, but if he did, Keith should be preparing a lawsuit.  The only offensive player on this sleeper list that might come to fruition is Javon Ringer.

As for the Busts, Freeman had a bad season last year but most would agree that he is not a bust and will end up being a good QB in the long run, but yes the final decision on him is not quite in yet.  Heyward Bey finally showed up last season with Carson Palmer at the helm but with all the hype around him during that draft, he could definitely be considered a Bust as of right now.  Same goes for Massaquoi, he didn't have all the hype but he has the physical tools to be much better than he is.

But uh oh, Hakeem Nicks a Bust?!  Whoopsie!  Yeah, not much else to say about that one except WROOOOONG!

Next year we'll review 2010 and 2011's lists.  But so far Reger's got a gem with Demarco Murray on his 2011 Sleeper list.  But also a possible faux pas with Andy Dalton on the Bust list.  We shall see!

Keep up the good work Reger.

Rob Reger's 22nd Annual Sleeper / Bust List

Posted by Regs

The rules are simple, the players listed under Sleepers I feel will greatly outplay their draft position, while the players on the Bust list will be drafted way too high for their future performance.  So, in theory, a 1st round player could be a sleeper, while a 3-4 round pick could be a bust.
Sleepers

1.       Ryan Broyles
2.       Courtney Upshaw
3.       Lavonte David
4.       Derek Wolfe
5.       Ladarius Green
6.       David Wilson
7.       Dan Herron
8.       Janoris Jenkins
9.       Jonathon Martin
10.   Juron Crinor
11.   Alshon Jeffery
12. Nick Foles

Busts

1.       Andre Branch
2.       Zebrie Sanders
3.       Brock Osweiler
4.       Ryan Tannehill
5.       Nick Perry
6.       Trent Richardson
7.       Melvin Ingram
8.       Kendall Wright
9.       Dontari Poe
10.   Stephen Hill
11.   Josh Robinson

Here we go again. We are less than 3 days away from my favorite day of the year. The rules are simple, so please pay attention. The picks that I have listed are who I would take if I were the GM of the team picking, given the players available. It does not in any way represent who I think the team will select. Cobra Kai Stats

Posted by Koko

Due to the slap in the face from the Lady Kai's by letting their place on The Dojo atrophy, their tab is now terminated. In it's place I will be keeping our batting statistics this season. The season totals will always remain at the top of the page, followed by individual games. I figured we were running stale on ways to break each other's balls, so this should stir the pot a bit. Plus maybe even our fearless leader will actually have to check out THE GOD DAMN SITE ONCE IN A WHILE!

I say guy with the lowest AVG has to buy a round of shots after the last game.

Team U$A

Posted by Koko

Apparently being selected to represent their country and bring home a gold medal is not enought for NBA stars Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen. They'd like to be paid for their contributions to Team USA. Or at least get a piece of the jersey sales.

"It's a lot of things you do for the Olympics -- a lot of jerseys you sell . . . We play the whole summer. I do think guys should be compensated. Just like I think college players should be compensated as well. Unfortunately, it's not there. But I think it should be something, you know, there for it." - Dwyane Wade

With elocution like that, I can't believe he's throwing balls into hoops for a living instead of teaching English to muppets.

I know, that's a cheap shot, he's a professional athlete and I'm probably just jealous of him and Allen because they can do things on the basketball court that I can only duplicate on an Xbox. But that's the point. They hit the genetic lottery. Sure they've put in countless hours of grueling practice towards becoming the superstars they are today, but 99% of the population can put in double or even triple the work ethic and still not even be near their talent level on their very worst day. So when the "everyman" hears someone like Wade or Allen say something like this, even though they might have somewhat of a miniscule point, it flies over like a Hitler Youth Ralley in Boca Raton . . . ON YOM KIPPUR!

Even King Clueless James stayed away from answering this question and said, "It doesn't matter. I'm happy to be a part of the team, to be selected again." When LeBron makes you look like an asshat, needless to say, you're having a bad day.
