Case Closed, Nuff Said, Court’s Adjourned, End of the Road, The Fat Lady Has Sung, Game Over Man, and of course . . . Seacrest Out!
Eli is little brother no more. The annoying little kid who Peyton toyed with on the driveway basketball court now has double the amount of Super Bowl rings as his HOF bound bro. Not to mention SB MVP’s as well.
But the “decapitation,” as Brandon Jacobs so eloquently put it in front of 100 million people, of the Patriots not only cemented Eli’s own proclamation that he is indeed in Tom Brady’s class, but it also ascended the New York Football Giants franchise into a realm of rarified air, that of which the Patriots themselves have yet to sniff.
4 Super Bowl Championships.
Only 5 franchises have now achieved that feat in the history of the NFL. And taking into account the Giants ultra rich history as one of the leagues original teams, the place where Lombardi and Landry started their professional coaching careers and their legendary battles with the Baltimore Colts and Green Bay Packers in the pre Super Bowl era, the Giants are now in the top 5 franchises all time. Where they place exactly can be argued ad nauseum, but the fact is it’s something that can now be legitimately argued.
I would say they are 3rd, behind the Packers and Steelers. The Cowboys have one more SB win but the Giants have 3 more total League Championships as the Cowboys do not have the pre Super Bowl history of the Giants. The G-Men also have one more playoff appearance and conference championship than Dallas and Eli led Big Blue to victory in the only playoff game ever played between the two teams.
The 49ers are 5th with 5 SB rings as well. There’s no way you can put them in front of the Giants because all of their success came in such a relatively short amount of time. They simply do not have enough tread on the tires to be ranked in front of teams like the Packers, Giants or Cowboys.
Leaving the Patriots on the outside looking in. New England has enjoyed all of their accolades in a more extended time frame than San Fran, but with an all-time record of 3-4 in the Big Game, they now find themselves on a list with the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and Minnesota Vikings as 4-time Super Bowl losers.

Well said my friend. In your face haters!
Congrats on your team's Super win.
Nobody places the ball in tight spots like Eli. He could fit the ball in the crack of your ass from 50 yards out!
Nothing from Lemieux?
I think Eli is as streaky as they get. Capable of greatness as well as horrendous. He has elite characteristics and certain accomplishments, but he is far too inconsistent to be truly elite.
Case in point, winning 2 super bowls is elite. Throwing 25 ints in a season is not. Having more 4th quarter comebacks is elite. Having your best QB rating of your career being 92.9 is not.
You have to take the lows with the highs if you want to put someone in an elite category.
One more ring than Rodgers! Bam!!!!
Rings talk, bullshit walks! Bam!!!
Elite also means the ability to bounce back after a devastating loss or a bad year. Doesn't seem like Brady has been able to bounce back yet.
And please with the INT's, that stat is always inaccurate and misleading. Until the NFL wakes up and starts counting INT's like they do earned runs in baseball, the category is not a trustworthy barometer. Eli had one bad year with INT's last year, many of which were not even close to his fault, and bounced back to form this year.
You're reaching now Regs and it's pathetic.
And by your scale, I guess Brett Favre is not an elite QB.
Hey, here's a fun little math equation for you:
Favre's Ring + Rodger's Ring = Eli's Rings
No homework, school's out, Giants are champs . . . . AGAIN!
Football is the ultimate team sport. It is stupid to judge somebody on their number of rings. So many things have to fall in line for a team to win a super bowl.
Granted, the QB is the most important player, but you are using that as your sole indication of greatness. That is stupid.
Eli has played in 8 seasons. During those 8 seasons, he has had 6 seasons in which his QB rating was under 90! His top rating is 93, and his career mark is a below average 82.1. He has a respectable 74-54 record as a qb, but has only made the playoffs in 4 of his 8 years.
I will stick to my guns and say that he has elite characteristics, but is way too inconsistent to be in the class of the elite.
You're doing the exact same thing Regs, but instead you've selected QB rating because you think it fits your argument better.
Even though admittedly by many respected analyst, some of them HOF QB's themselves, can't even figure out how that stat is configured and place very little emphasis on it.
Just use your eyes man, that's the best test of all. Eli comes through again and again and again. And in the years when the Giants have not made the playoffs, it has never been due to Eli not playing well enough.
You said that it's an ultimate team game and everything has to come together to win a Super Bowl, well then the opposite is true as well and you cannot blame him for the team not making the playoffs either.
The only thing that's inconsistent here is your argument.
Career Passer Ratings:
Chad Pennington-90.1
John Elway-79.9
There are a ton of examples like that but i'll stop at this one.
You see why thats a stupid stat?
John Elway, 79.9?
Wow! I already roll my eyes every time I see passer ratings thrown up on screen, but now I'm just going to ignore the damn thing altogether.
Oh Yeah, 2 min left and I need a TD.
GIVE ME PENNINGTON BABY!!!
