The Senate voted 52-46 against the repeal of Net Neutrality today. For those that don't know, Net Neutrality is one of the ideals Obama backs to protect consumers.
It prevents internet providers, like AT&T, Verizon, Bright House, etc. from giving more bandwidth to "preferred" sites. And by preferred I mean the ones who pay them off. Also it prevents them from throttling, or decreasing customer's bandwidths who use a lot of multimedia sites like Hulu or Netflix, in order to charge those customers a premium as they see fit.
The reason the vote was so close is because it pretty much went right down party lines, with the Democrates finally able to stick together on something.
I bring this up because it's just a microcosm of the bigger problem in this country. Look who was in favor of repealing this law: Big business and of course the Republicans.
So I ask you why? Why, why, why would anyone in their right mind who is not in the upper 1%, vote Republican? They are always against the middle class, they are even always against the upper middle class. They prove time and time again they do not have the people's best interest at heart and will always choose corporations over the people who are the backbone of this country.
Did any of our Republican readers want Net Neutrality repealed? Did you want your Internet providers nickel and dimming you for every byte you use?
I truly believe it has come to the point where honest Republicans must take a good look at the people in government who represent them and ask themselves, is this really what I'm for? Am I for a party who will screw the American people at all cost just so they can disagree with the current president? Are these the people who I truly want running the country?
