Wow. Harsh Review....but I guess warranted.
When I left the theatre I too felt dissappointed in a way as your description of it being a "MadLibs" version of the original was dead on. However, I waited to hear the prognosis of my fellow movie goers to see if I was in the minority of people saying........ehhhh....it was ok.
There were some great laugh out loud moments and the ending is awesome......but it was a bit dissappointing. However, isn't that what you would expect from a comedy 2.0 version?
Great review as always.
I wasn't thrilled about the first one. But maybe I need to watch it again??????
I thought the funniest thing in the whole movie is when Zach throws out the boat anchor after they've beached it.
The Vacation series also had a bad second film but they bounced back with 2 very good ones after that. So maybe The Hangover can do the same thing if they get another shot at one, but I doubt they will.
Comedy sequels are tough. Everyone seems to like the 2nd Bill and Ted, also Meet the Fockers was pretty decent. But yeah overall they are never as good as the original.
except the outrageously funny movies like The Naked Gun, Police Academy, etc...
