I don't know how many of you have been following what's going on with the country but I sure have and it's truley unprecedented in our lifetimes. I remembered this piece of material Carlin did a few years back. He always said this society would fall in upon itself due to greed. I never quite imagined how that would happen. . . . .

I guess this is how it starts.

Just some more proof that Carlin was truly a genius and not just a comedic one.

We let this one Slip Away..........Again

In 2007 the Colorado Rockies won 21 of 22 games to finish out what started as a bad season but turned into a miracoulous World Series Run. In Softball, Momentum is gained more than it is lost. A team such as the Colorado Rockies can look as mediocre as can be sometimes but when momentum takes hold it can do some crazy things.
Recently, the Cobra Kai have lost our momentum during crucial moments of the game and it has switched in our opponents favor. However, I feel we are making the strides and are very close to capturing a long winning streak by utilizing the momentum of the game this time in our favor. In 6 inning games this year we are a blistering 16-1, unfortunatley we play 7 innings and in that one inning we have relinqished our momentum and it drives the other way giving our opponets a crazy inning to capture the lead.

This just so happened to be the story once again this past Friday Night at Red bug lake park. We had a solid all around performance going as everybody contributed in their own way and we had a commanding lead throughout the game. Mad Dog was pitching a stellar game and our defense was holdnig the Bull market in check.

Our bats were solidly producing run after run (despite still having Roundhouse Reger on the IR) as we collectively were peppering solid hits all around the field. The solid hitting display frustrated Bull Market to the point they utilized the old Roundhouse Rover behind 2nd base. This slowed us down but did not stop us.

Ironically, their rover was forced to cover more ground than he was physically able to as we relentlessly lined hit after hit all over the field. Eventually, he gave in and crumbled to the ground with what appeared to be a pulled hamstring. Softball is a game of momentum and I really felt like this game was ours for the taking said Capt. Tucci after the game. However, right when we felt the game was ours Bull Market rallied around their Rover’s injury as he mysteriously limped out of the dugout in the bottom of the 6th after receiving some sort of Miyagi like treatment and belted a 3 run homerun to shift the momentum and the Bull Markets swung mightily in the sixth to capture the game.

The stat book and press release from the game is similar to most of our games. Everybody contributed throughout and then we lost our momentum.
Confidence is a big part of success in every human endeavor. In Softball, where the difference between a hard hit line-drive out and a triple is small, confidence and looseness play a large role. As teams win, the players begin “having fun”. An optimistic attitude takes over in the dugout, with players reinforcing the others in effective ways, players work in synergy with each other. The winning trend enforces itself, and in softball this is more pronounced especially with a group of guys such as our team that have a great chemistry and love playing with each other (and not in that way Richard). Thus, I firmly believe it is only a matter of time before we play a full 7 inning game and the momentum we create will carry us to a long and fruitful winning streak.

However, our momentum is always in full swing after the game at Gators. We came roaring back and started pounding down pitchers with a reckless abandon. We caught a hot streak here and the pitchers really started flowing and didn’t stop until we put 84 of them away once again breaking our own league record. Richard even started a Police Academy inquisition on whom was the infamous Lt. Harris???? That is a classic posting.

Anyways, I am looking forward to this Friday night as we regain our momentum and look to put forth a full 7 innings in a big Win!!See You Under the Friday Night Lights!

I know we don't normally discuss "golf" on this site especially since Tiger went down, but this moment bears mentioning. For one, the U.S. took the Ryder cup back this past weekend from Europe but more importantly, Boo Weekly does the "Happy Gilmore" Bull dance down the 18th fairway. It's one of the most pressure packed events in golf and Boo channels his inner Adam Sandler.....You have to love it.

Just outstanding. Boo ended up burying his opponent (Oliver Wilson from England) going something like 8 under on his round.

I fully expect us to utilize the "Bull Dance" when approaching the batters box this Friday night, and I am sure this will help ensure a much needed win for us as well.

We asked for more behind the scenes action from professional sports and here it is. This one may not be as egregious but certainly hilarious as George Brett will always be remembered in my mind for this story rather than the pine tar incident. I love how he tells this story to probably some young SS in the minors who is probably thinking "What the F**K??? but has to listen to it like Brett is giving him instructions.

Sadly, If somebody were to do this in pre-game warm-up again I would definitely give my vote to it being Richard.

In a follow-up to our drunken debate last night at gators, one that had Richard walking up to every unsuspecting patron at the bar and interrogating them the answer is Capt. Harris.
I love the fact that this stumper had people excited and we had random strangers running up to us all night yelling out an answer when it finally came to them.
Just for the record Koko nailed this one while driving down south via a text message. I'm sure he had no idea behind the request but he still nailed it. Rob was close with his text answer of Mauser. That was the hot debate all night everyone said Harris or Mauser with a few Lassards added in. I don't know how this started but at least it didn't end with JW attempting to throw up on the bar............Good Times!!!!

Jeff Pearlman has a new book coming out in September called Boys Will Be Boys, which chronicles the Cowboys during the Aikman-Smith-Irvin glory years. Tucked inside the book is a chapter called “The Last Naked Warrior,” which is a nickname defensive end Charles Haley used for himself.

You Simply have to read this Excerpt from the book. Disturbing? Funny?? Unbeleivable?

Anyways, it got me to thinking about how crazy the Sports world really is behind closed doors. I would love to hear more stories like this.....well maybe not like this but one's detailing the other side of the sports world, kind of like the Cobra Kai's secret lives at Gators. Tales of Mikey tearing off Sandy Johnson's wig.......Getting tossed for changing around the letters on the billboard, slamming pitchers of beer and then throwing them up all over the floor (allegedly), JW using a Cup for something other than it's intended use of protection. Obviously, the list can go on and on but will not match professional athletes.

I can't wait for this book.

Post game wrap up

Posted by J Dub

It was not a "W", but it was a damn good time.

The first inning was probably our worst inning, as was the case for most of last season. "We are a machine, it takes a little time to get these beast running after a long period of rest", was Captain Tucci's take on the first inning fowl ups. The bats came to life in the second inning and didn't stop til the seventh. "We played better tonight with two outs than we did all last season, hell we played better tonight with two outs than I have seen us play in a while," Jason "Crazy Legs" Kokotoff was overheard telling the foreign media of Friday nights game. The pure will to compete and drive to succeed could not have been personified any better than our own Rob "Lefty" Reger. "Chipped a bone in my shoulder, messed up some ligaments, but that ain't going to stop, and my wife said I could play." Was what Reger told team doctor Gutierrez before the game, the doctor cleared him to play but only to bat, and only on the condition that he would pull himself out if it did start to hurt. "My first at bat did hurt, but I knew I couldn't leave my team, so I batted lefty." True testament to the heart that our team has. My vote for game defensive MVP goes to Johnny "dirty sides" blaze at short, not only did he get dirty running the bases, but he did you dirty if you hit to his side.

The post game celebration was not our best, but we were with two of our drinking anchors. We did have a good time as always, and Gators always treats us right. We slammed an impressive 43 pitchers, with two of those being slammed in pitcher slamming contests (not entire pitchers). "I like to put my money on J dub, in pitcher slamming, makes the guy feel the pressure to win" Mikey Lemieux in defense of his gambling on pitcher slamming. "Hey it's not I am betting on our games, so get fuck off my back."

Final score 10 to 11 a fight to the end.

Well I look forward to seeing you again next Friday, at RBLP.

Working Our Way Back to the Top

Posted by Keith G.

After a recent Real Sports Report indicated that former Cobra Kai hitting legend Scott "Smokey" Kluge had resurfaced in a Massachustes Softball league, I tracked him down this past week to pick his brain on what we did well in the past. I have not read the full game recap but initial reports out of Red Bug lake park indicate we did not post a "W" this past Friday night to start the season off. Well, have no fear I firmly believe we have the make-up for a championship team.

Thus, I hit the road to travel to different parks and see if I could find any tips to help tweak our team in the right direction. Well, after traveling to Miller Park in Milwaukee I had a great insider look at how winning team operate. Initially, I had an option to travel to Yankee Stadium but with the way their farm system is operated I wanted no part of that tour. I look forward to sharing these tips with Capt Tucci and the rest of you later this week, I even learned how a Sausage race might be a viable option to help entertain the Lady Kai's at the field.

I won this race, but luckily for me it was only between the German and Italian Sausage as I'm sure the "Chorizo" would have smoked me.

Looking forward to getting back under the Friday Night Lights this week.

Stroller Racing League

Posted by J Dub

After a dismal softball season, a few of the Kai players are looking into different avenues for there competitive urges. These are the first pictures from the SRL (Stroller Racing League). This new time trial racing sport is taking over the parking garages of malls across the US. Neil and Keith put there skills to work at the Altamonte Springs mall, the posted a new track record of two cycles in 2 minutes beating the competition by an impressive 30 seconds. "Yes it is dangerous, but I love the danger!" Captain Tucci. Keep your eyes open for the highlight on the internet, they are slowly making there way to YouTube. "This is the first step in a new direction for the Cobra Kai's we are looking to extend our team to more than just softball, stroller racing is it!"- President of Cobra Kai team expansion Keith Greiveldinger.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think our opportunity for Revenge would be served up to us so perfectly as the good people of Red Bug Lake did for us.

"We could crush Them like an ant. But it would be too easy. No, revenge is a dish best served cold. We should bide our time until... Oh, what the hell. Let's just crush him like an ant Early and finish them off and head to the bar."

Wow......This is one that we let slip away last Friday and it has haunted my dreams ever since. Well, it is rare in life to have such a great opportunity for redemption like we have tonight. Last Friday we should have won......This Friday we will Win!!!!!!!!!!!

What is your favorite sports revenge story? When the Red Sox finally beat the Yankees to advance to the World Series? Winning a playoff series against the Yankees doesn't wash away all of the titles the Yanks won, but the fashion that they beat them in helped a little.

The Pistons finally beating the Celtics. The Bulls finally beating the Pistons. The Mavs finally beating the Spurs. Randy Moss exacting revenge on teams that passed on him in the draft. Bird beating Magic in '84 to avenge the NCAA National Championship game. Magic beating Bird in '85 & '87? Pennington beating the Jets Sunday????? Or the Kai's exacting revenge on Cessena!!!!

See You Under the Friday Night Lights Tonight!!!

Moving Forward......

Posted by Keith G.

The Cobra Kai are moving forward as a team and are looking forward to rebounding from the the season.
We have one More Game to prove ourselves this Friday Night @ 8:30.

In the Meantime the Team would like to apologize to Eric, Andrew, Zeke, Zak, and the countless other youngsters that look to us as role models for allowing MJ to smoke a cigar during his most recent tryout with the Kai's.

Looking to shore up our team for next season We recently called up former MLB'er and Basketball star Michael Jordan for a try-out. The team is still deciding on if he made the cut but we came under fire after photo's of MJ surfaced on the internet and the American Cancer Society was not happy with the team for allowing MJ to practice with a "Stogey" in hand.

"When high profile athletes publicly display unhealthful habits they can mislead young people to emulate their behavior. According to the American Cancer Society tobacco use in this country is responsible for (one-third) of all cancers and remains the most preventable cause of death in our society. Since 1964 smoking has cause more than 12 million premature deaths in the U.S."

Anyways, it's Freakin MJ so........Let's just leave it at that.

See You this Friday as the "Redeem Team" looks to go out in style with a win to lay the ground work for a championship season this Fall.

Game Time 8:30 This Friday Night Under the Lights!!!!

Till Next Season.......

Posted by Keith G.

We stepped onto to the Field in the first of two games Friday night preparing to end the season with a sweep. Well, we got our sweep just not the kind we were looking for. In the early game we took on our rivals the “Beat Downs” and came out swinging. We jumped to an early 4-0 lead and held them down for the first 4 innings behind a solid defensive effort and an Ace performance by Koko.

In 4 inning softball this season we are 7-1-1, however according to the rule book we usually play 7 innings. We started out hard but the 4th inning was too much for us to over come once again and the Beat downs got away with a big victory. This one was ours for the taking but we left it on the table for next season. “This softball season was much like church. Many attended, but few understood. There were many games we should have won this Summer but I can’t explain why we didn’t” said Johnny Blaze after the game.

Well, we got a chance to redeem ourselves in the second game and we struck first and struck very hard against Cessna while jumping out to an 8-1 lead after 3 innings. This was our finest all around effort in a while as everybody came together and played hard eager to end the season with a big win. Koko was the Ace on the mound and held Cessna down early and often. Our bats got off to a big start and our fielding was solid as well. Mikey Lemieux came up with a diving stab in the 4th to rob Cessna of a hit but Blue needed a little convincing by our Savvy Veteran Easy E the Big Swami. Rarely, is a call overturned at Red Bug Lake park but when Big Blue realized (after some cajoling from us) Mikey came up with the ball he overturned it and made the right call, and it infuriated Cessna and frustrated their bats for the next few innings.

Capt. Tucci’s newly unveiled lineup with speed at the top and power in the middle got our offense running on all cylinders early. The Cisco kid and the Captain got on base early and were driven in by AC and the Big Easy who had no mercy on the right fielder.

Big Daddy Doc Gutierrez was even excited to show off his wheels and stole 2nd base allowing us to pull off the old Miyagi swipe as Greiveldinger came charging home after Gutierrez stole second and Cessna forgot about the runner on 3rd. “Never Forget the runner on 3rd , during the “Miyagi swipe” I can hear our Sensei muttering those words in my sleep DonJuan said after the game.

Roundhouse Reger kept his hot bat going bashing in some more RBI’s and making some dazzling plays at the hot corner gunning down the Jets. “I wanted to have a statement game against them because I have been holding it in all season for the Jets because their NFL affiliate stole my idol Brett Favre from the Pack” Reger was quoted to have said in the dugout.

“I felt confident this game was in the bag but we let it slip away” said Capt Tucci. Sometimes when you least expect it things turn, but overall I felt what I almost always feel when I am playing: Just for those two or three hours, there is really no place I would rather be”

The Lady Kai’s were not present due to other contractual obligations but they were reportedly supporting the team at a satellite field the best way they know how…….In spirit with sprits.

As always we headed to our favorite waterin hole where the Kai’s always win and ended the night in style…..by breaking our own record once again by putting away 82 pitchers this week. It was a fitting end to up and down season. Well, here’s to lookin forward to next season…….It can’t come soon enough.
