I finally made it out to see "The Dark Knight"......it was well worth the wait. Great movie. Heath Ledger was fantastic and I enjoyed the "Two Face" twist.
After watching the Dark Knight it got me to thinking of the Batman "Adam West" style. This clip is a classic fight scene from the 60's TV version of Batman. I have a few questions:
Was it supposed to be Comedic or was it just bad acting?
Did Marvel want the batman and their characters portrayed the way they were or was it necessary to dumb them down for "leave it to beaver" 60's TV?
Was Batman popular before the TV show or did the show catapult the comic....the chicken or the egg?????
Just some thoughts for you to ponder as you get ready to tackle another great work week.

First off Batman is a DC comic, not marvel. I think the comic book at the time wasn't as serious as it is today, and I think that the shows creators took a few liberties in production. I don't know if it was suppose to be a comedy, but you have to look at what the lead ending up doing later in his career PORN! Adam Wests' fine acting got him into porn. So maybe it was a joke.
I don't know about that porn thing J-Dub that may just be urban legend. Although West did say the sets of that show were like a porn with all the chicks waiting to bang both West and Ward (Robin).
True the comic was not as dark in the 60's but it was not as campy as the TV show either. The original color of batman's cape and cowl was suppose to be black in the comics. However the ink used back in those days ended up turning blue after the printing process. The blue color became the standard and stuck with the character until Tim Burton reprised the black cape and cowl in the '89 Batman film.
A major factor of how the tone was set for the tv series was that the writers based it on a journal written by Batman creator Bob Kane. However the writers may not have known at the time that the journal was written while Kane was off his tits high in the Mojave Desert.
I loved the part when he said"bon voyage pussy" to the kitty. I loved that show. Anyway, it was a different time my friend.
Ok so the porn thing might be an urban legend, but it is still a good one.
If it doesn't have to do with Favre, I'm just simply not interested.
With that said, I became somewhat interested in Batman as a kid when I knew him only as the Adam West character. Because I was a KID, I thought it was hilarious.
Now that I am older, I think if they kept Batman the same (i.e. the West version) I would think it was silly and stupid.
So, in other words, most of us kind of grew up with Batman and he changed over time just like we did. Starting out somewhat gullible and carefree and evolving into cynical beings. Chew on that theory.
Hey rags, why don't you go buy a jets jersey. That also goes for keith. Bunch of Farve groupies.
