Who Drafted Ocho Cinco????

Posted by Keith G.

We need a ruling from Commissioner Koko on the validity of Chad Johnson's draft rights for JW. Reportedly he has officially changed his name to Ocho Cinco. I have scoured the Free agent listings for Ocho Cinco but he hasn't come up yet.

Just another case of a "Loco" Miami alum.

Also, we need a ruling from our spanish speaking bloggers, but according to my Freshman high school Espanol Text book 85 translates into Ochenta Y Cinco.....Not Ocho Cinco??????

Nastaia is the 3rd Most Marketable athlete from the games. Stephanie Rice #5

Well, with the Olympics over now is the time for these athletes to quickly cash in during their small window of opportunity to make some money before we revert our attention to Football and the October playoff run in MLB. Speaking of baseball, I read the other day that this will most likely be the first time in 13 years the High $pending Yankees will miss the playoffs.

Anyways, I digress back to the Olympic athletes. It looks like Rob's dream girl (next to his wife of course) Nastai Liukin will be appearing on Koko's next Box of Wheaties. I know JW will be upset they went with Her instead of Michael Phelps but no need to fret JW cause Phelps landed on the Corn Flakes box.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting when I ran across a list of the most marketable athletes looking to cash in after the games. Obviously, Phelps tops the list but below are a few notables.

1. Phelps
2. Ussain Bolt (NFL Career or maybe the Yanks give him a shot in their system???)
3. Nastai Liukin
5. Stephanie Rice (Australian Swimmer)
5. Shawn Johnson (The Next Mary Lou)
12. Lin Dan (Chinese Ping-Pong....I Mean Table Tennis Stud)
25. Jason Lezak- (Dude who saved Phelps Gold Medal Run with that out of this world final leg)

Koko's Replacement in Training?

Posted by Keith G.

Wow....just when you think American Youth sports cant get any more ludicrous this story breaks. From the parents that brought you trophies for every player and not keeping score we offer you Jerricho Scott.

Nine-year-old Jericho Scott has been banned from pitching in a New Haven, Conn., youth baseball league because he throws so hard that he frightens the other players, according to league officials. But he took to the mound on Saturday anyway, so the other team simply dropped their bats and left the field, refusing to face him. Next logical step for all involved? Lawsuits!

The fighting started this week when Coach Wilfred Vidro refused a directive by league officials to replace 9-year-old pitcher Jericho Scott, whose pitching they say is so hard, fast and accurate that it might frighten or discourage other players.

So why not just move him up a league? Since I don't have a kid or am not affiliated with any (at least to the best of my knowledge) I guess I am not the most logical voice on this issue. However, after competing in sports since a child I really can't fathom the need to ban this kid unless he has hurt somebody.....which he hasn't. Well, I guess it is up to the ever present legal system to sort out even youth sports now.

Just In Case You need Another Reason to Gamble..

Posted by Keith G.

Ahh.....The NFL is almost here. That means Fun-Filled Sundays and even a reason to enjoy Monday Nights. But more importantly it also brings Fantasy Football.....and Gambling for the true degenerates. Well, now Roger Goodell can proudly display the lines every week for which NFL Team will have a player arrested. BetUS....Thus the reason for the girl pictured (BETUS required our site to picture her) now offers lines of which team has the best chance to have a player arrested. Currently, the Dallas Cowboys (Of HardKnocks Fame) are leading the way followed closely by Koko and Rich's bad boys from New York. Below are the top lines:

Team to have next player arrested

Dallas Cowboys 15/1
New York Giants 25/1
Philadelphia Eagles 15/1
Washington Redskins 25/1
Buffalo Bills 25/1
Miami Dolphins 10/1
New England Patriots 25/1

But wait....if you act now you can even bet on Individual Players.

Currently, the top Prospects are below:

Odds of first NFL Player to get arrested:

Chris Henry, CIN: 4/6
Adam “Pacman” Jones, DAL: 1/1
Tank Johnson, DAL: 2/1
Ray Lewis, BAL: 5/1
Steve Smith, CAR: 5/1
Kellen Winslow, CLE: 6/1
Randy Moss, NE: 10/1
Ricky Williams, MIA: 15/1

Well, I know I am keeping my fingers crossed because I invested a high draft pick in Army Sgt. Kellen Winslow III. Rob's first round Pick Randy Moss even cracks the top 10, along with Vern's top Receiver. Ahh......just another reason I can't wait for Football!!!!

I have Actually Enjoyed these Olympics......

Posted by Keith G.

I have to admit I have been hooked each night by the Olympics. I found myself entrenched in all the drama and personal stories they reported on and even enjoyed the competition. However, what I am most surprised at is I think I actually enjoyed the Women's sports the most. I realize the overall sex appeal helps sell the story of women's Olympics but I think I truly enjoyed the personal drama's and elegance the women portrayed.

I think my favorite competition so far has been Women's gymnastics. With the Ongoing rivalry between the U.S. and China and the subplot of the Chinese "reportedly" cheating to beat the U.S. and just the pure competition aspect it has been the most riveting aspect I have enjoyed. To see these young women dedicate their lives to something and then lay it all on the line in one moment is truly unbelievable. The best....I mean most riveting part is when their one moment in time comes up....and they screw up. Can you imagine preparing and dedicating your whole existence to something and then when your chance comes...you blow it?????? Also, I think NBC and Bob Costas should hire Bela Karolie to be a sideline reporter for every sport....immediately. He made the Gymnastics so much more fun to watch. The Way he broke things down and flat out accused the Chinese of cheating he reminds me of a wise drunken Grandfather at a family reunion that owns the party.

I also enjoyed the Womens track and Field. I felt horrible for Lolo Jones. They kept on telling her incredible story and then she chokes and hits a hurdle and doesn't place in the top ten. How heartbreaking would that be? Although, deep down I think she will bounce back with some modeling gig down the line. Speaking of Track and Field, What about Usain Bolt? That guy was unreal. Yes, Michael Phelps is the story of the 2008 Olympics but Bolt completely dominated his competitions.

Lastly, I think I finally found my new favorite sport that I hope to start training for and might be able to compete in the 2012 Olympics. Team Handball!!! If you haven't checked out a game you must watch. That sh*t looks awesome. I am looking for teammates to start a league and start training for 2012.

Swami Sayz: Big E back in Action

Orlando, FL AP Wire..............08/20/2008 21:22............

IR Report: 08/04/2008
Injury report for Elliott Barnes #00
-Probable fracture to left hand, placed on IR for 6-8 Weeks
-Rehabilitation schedule to follow

IR Report: 08/20/2008
Injury report for Elliott Barnes #00
***Updated***
-Elliott Barnes listed as probable for 08/22/2008 game
-Elliott “Big E” Barnes #00 cleared for Friday Night

Swami Sayz:

August 20, 2008

After suffering a near broken hand injury to his glove hand on the rainy night of August 1st, 2008, Elliott “Big E” Barnes had his doubts of returning to fields under the lights of Red Bug Lake Park for quite some time. After a de-moralizing loss to what was surely a comeback victory, the Cobra Kais had to stay positive for the second game of the double header against The Beatdowns. “Walking off the field injured when there is still a game to be played is always tough. You don’t want to be the guy that let your team down.” said Big E while reflecting on the game. “You get mad; you get mad at yourself and the situation.” he said. Eventually the Cobra Kais went down to Top Shelf; but not for lack of effort.

When asked about that game, Captain Tucci acknowledged, “It always takes the wind out of your sails when a guy like that [Big E] goes down. You know the whole team wants him to get up and continue, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.”

Although suffering from the injury, Big E was able to do what he could and pick up the clipboard. Even Keith “Trigger” G. quipped, “Even with a swollen hand, he showed his dedication to the team; and that’s all that I can ask of anyone.” Noticeably irritated that he could not help his team, Elliott “Big E” showed his emotion as the Cobra Kais were powering through the lineup. But in the end, The Beatdowns were too much and the team, leaving nothing left in the tank, congratulated their opponents. “I can never feel like we lost when we played our best and showed nothing but heart” Big E said after wrapping his hand. “I just hope to come back soon and fight like these guys [the Cobra Kais] showed me how.”“When something like that happens, you hope it’s just one game, and not something that keeps a guy out for too long,” added veteran pitcher Mike “Ice” Broderick. “I have played a few years and seen this happen, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

And that is what happened. Determined to finish the season, Elliott “Big E” Barnes looked past the prognosis and moved forward. “To hear that someone can be that far along in such a short time is always good news,” commented Richard “Doc” Gutierrez. With only three weeks to the day after his hand injury, Big E is his game face ready to come out of the dugout hungry. With trophy contention out of sight, we all know that the Cobra Kais don’t miss the opportunity to get more play time under their belts. “As always, I am ready to have one of our vets get back under the lights. Some guys just bring a swagger to the team, and everyone, including fans, like to have that person on the field” commented Johnny “Blaze” Grecco. “This guy brings energy to the field, and frankly hes knows whats ta do’s” said Xalvy “Half man, half amazing” Vargas when hearing of the news. And Captain Tucci, when updating his depth chart later that Wednesday evening said, “I love moving that guy [Barnes] from one list to the next. Makes it feel like that hole that we have all felt being filled back in. I can’t wait for Friday Night!”

The Cobra Kai team has always been rich in its roster depth and talent. No lack of heart, no lack of focus, and no lack of fans. For a team that is only walked off the field with two wins; to watch them, you would never know. An ever-gelling group of young men who come together to create a vastly diverse team rich in spirit. Always putting their trust in one thing, play a good game, and leave nothing on the field. Although the season has not been what they had hoped for, the Cobra Kais can always look back and know that there are no regrets. With their ups and downs, and this season nearing a close, they can always say that they made friends, made enemies, and drank the bad thoughts away. But one thing good can come away from this season. A season of education. For this is the season that all players learned what they are made of, on and off the field. “The one thing that a ball player can look forward to is the next season” said Big E as he was testing his throwing arm; which hasn’t seen action for three consecutive weeks. Its game time for the Cobra Kais, and it looks like the forecast for Cessna is cloudy skies and a 100% chance of payback.

Slumpbuster.....We took One Down!

Posted by Keith G.

Sweep the Legs Johnny…….Well, we came up just a few swings away from completing a sweep but we were happy to walk away with a split Friday night.

The rain held off and the team was primed and ready to go taking on our uni-rivals the Beat -Downs in Game 1. Koko took the mound and we had a back and forth battle from the beginning. The Beat-downs bats were swinging for the Left field fence and were keeping Mikey and Cisco on their toes spraying hits their way all night. Our defense was solid for the night and our bats came alive when the 2nd half of the line-up came through all night and carried us through the game. DonJuan found a way to raise his league leading OBP by 2.5% points and JW was a mad man mashing the ball with a caveman club swing he recently acquired.

We held the Beat downs down and forced them to play our style of game. We had our opportunity heading into the final inning to walk away victorious but we ran out of outs and lost 13-11 in the first game of the double header. “I have observed that baseball is not unlike war, and when you get right down to it, we batters are the heavy artillery and in the last inning we didn’t have the heavy artillery to win the war” said Richard “Big Daddy” Gutierrez after the game.

No Mercy! Strike First and Strike Hard. That is our team motto and that is exactly what we did in the 2nd game as we were hungry and were not going to be denied by anybody including Top Shelf for our win no matter what. Top Shelf was going down and we could sense it from the beginning and we knew they were the perfect slumpbuster to hit on. Capt. Tucci had the line-up set and handed Koko the ball and asked him for a solid outing because he knew our bats were going to be there. Our defense was solid in this game as we were primed and ready after sprinting over from field 2. AC was pumped and ready for a win and did not take kindly to one of their players talking some smack to him over at 1st base. AC wanted a win and was going to do everything in his power to make sure we got it. What are we at the park for except to win? I'd trip my mother. I'd help her up, brusher her off, tell her I'm sorry. But my mother wouldn’t make it to second.” AC said from the dugout.

The X-man Xavy had a stellar game at 2nd base eating up everything hit his way before pulling a muscle running the bases late in the 4th inning. Roundhouse Rob had one of his best all around performances by flashing his glove at the hot corner and almost gunning down a helpless batter from his knees after a diving stab. However, RR saved his best for the plate and came through when we needed it the most belting a long ball deep to center and driving in 3 runs to help set the pace for the night. Our bats were on fire and everybody contributed to the team’s success in this one which is exactly what we needed. We jumped out to a 13 run lead early and didn’t look back. “I have all the faith in the world in my guys and we were waiting to break out, and I knew it was coming in this game, you could just see it on the guys faces in the dugout we were going to win and win big” Capt. Tucci said at the post game press conference.

With a 13 run lead the team started to celebrate a bit and began dreaming of pitchers at gators. Johnny Blaze had another solid game fielding and reminded the team to keep its head on straight when Top Shelf began to show some life in the 6th inning. “I knew we had to go for the kill and couldn’t let them hang around” Blaze said. He also pointed out that in Softball you can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why softball is the greatest game of them all.

Top Shelf started to put a few runs on the board after starting a feud with the UMPS but Mad Dog came in and shut the door on their comeback and the team added 4 more runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal the slumpbuster.

“I was proud of my teammates tonight because this was a collective victory. Everybody pitched in and we had a hell of game. “The strength of the wolf is in the pack, and our team really came together and showed the fans at Red Bug Lake what we were made of and what we are capable of when were running on all cylinders” Greiveldinger said after the game.

Nothing tastes sweeter than a beer unless it is a beer after a win, so let’s go drink some beers Mikey said running off the field in victory. And that is exactly what the team did heading over to Gators and in the Olympic spirit broke our own world record by putting away an astounding 67 pitchers. The Lady Kai’s were out in numbers and cheered on the team to victory and were proud of their men they said from a team statement.

Well, we will look to continue our winning ways this Friday at 8:30 as we take on the Cessna. See You Under the Friday Night Lights!

JW's Weather Report

Posted by Keith G.

JW's official weather report for today is rainy and cloudy this morning and heading into the early afternoon......which means the rain will stop and by late afternoon and heading into the evening (gametime) the weather calls for clear skies and sun.

This makes it a great night to play ball.....so why don't we play 2 of them!!!!!!

JW is also reminded of a time back in college when he went over a month without getting laid. How did he cure that? Slumpbuster baby. It's like one of the girls he hung out with bringing one of her small town georgia friends over to party for the weekend. Sure, she's a little "big" but you know what, her lower half ain't too bad and she's looking to party JW recalls. He took care of business, and his confidence was back.

Next thing you know, he's back on a hot streak. He walked into his cousins Saloon and started picking off co-eds 1 by 1 again. That's what the Beat-downs are tonight. A team you can just pound to jump start the winning ways again.

Let's go. Keep that hitting streak alive and let's go for the Sweep tonight....JW style!

Olympic Update......

Posted by Keith G.

OK, So D-Wade is Not Washed Up after all.....

I can admit it when I make a mistake and so far D-Wade has proven to be the leader of Team USA and hasn't looked to bad after all. Michael Redd has been there proverbial 3-Point threat but he hasn't had one of those 25 point blow-up performances which is coming. D-Wade has had plenty of highlight dunks and plays to warrant my apology to JuanDiggler and D-Wade nation as he has been the best player on a collection of the best players in the world.

However, the Redeem Team has their biggest test of the tournament today as the Grudge match against Greece the guys who shocked (and humiliated) the Americans two years ago in the semifinals of the World Championships. The Greeks are physical, aggressive, and have proven that they can put the clamps on NBA players: Against Germany, they held Dirk Nowitzki to 13 points. The Greeks play dirty....I mean physical in your face defense like the kid on the playground who has no skills other than defense and covers you every possesion even when your just trying to catch a breather.

The Greeks did lose to the slanty eyed team from Spain but have been rumored to be saving everything they have for the Redeem Team.

According to J-Kidd ""They're going to target Dwight, and they're going to target Melo. "The most important thing for us will be to keep our composure. Kidd came to that conclusion after talking Tuesday with fellow Mav Dirk Nowitzki, who was roughed up and eventually lost his cool against the Greeks in Germany's 23-point loss. Like Kidd, Nowitzki expects Greece to go after two of the younger and more emotional players on the U.S. roster in what should be a physical, temperamental match up between two teams that will each try to impose its preferred style of play upon the other.

While D-Wade has been good the Redeem Team will need Kobe (Kobe....Tell me How my Ass tastes!) to break out of his slump starting today. Anyways, I am looking forward to the game and to more Team USA Dominance. A quick medal count shows the U.S. and China tied with 33 a piece. I looked for Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic but could not find a medal for them just to update our loyal Hispanic readers. I also noticed our Neighbors to the North (Team Canada 0 medals) trailed Togo and Uzbeksten by 1 medal.

Go USA!

I finally made it out to see "The Dark Knight"......it was well worth the wait. Great movie. Heath Ledger was fantastic and I enjoyed the "Two Face" twist.

After watching the Dark Knight it got me to thinking of the Batman "Adam West" style. This clip is a classic fight scene from the 60's TV version of Batman. I have a few questions:

Was it supposed to be Comedic or was it just bad acting?
Did Marvel want the batman and their characters portrayed the way they were or was it necessary to dumb them down for "leave it to beaver" 60's TV?
Was Batman popular before the TV show or did the show catapult the comic....the chicken or the egg?????

Just some thoughts for you to ponder as you get ready to tackle another great work week.

Rocket......Man

Posted by Keith G.

Well, the Brett Favre Saga has finally come to an end.....I guess. Late last night Brett was traded to the New York Jets. I am content with this deal because he goes to a decent team and will be able to trash the Dolphins twice. Actually, the first game of the year is against the fins so they might luck out as I think it will take him some time to learn a new offense for the first time in 16 years.

I know we are all sick of Brett posts, but I felt obliged to post one last time based upon a rumor a friend told me. I want to preface this with the fact it is one of those a friend of a friend who has ties to the organazation told me. If this were a reputable media web site, one where more than just our friends read it I would not post this. But since this is neither a reputable web site and our loyal 6 readers won't be offended I feel obliged to mention it simply because it is an interesting twist in the saga.

The last couple of nights I have been wondering how and why this could have gone down in the way it has. Well, I decided to research the so called rumor I had heard to see if it had legs, as it was the only explanation in my mind why they would run this legend out of town.

As it turns out Packers GM Ted Thompson has been rumored to be gay. Well, when he first took over as Packers GM he stumbled into the locker room and came across Brett talking to some teamates. As Ted walked up behind Brett he was overheard saying to them "Can you beleive we just hired a F"in F*g**t to run our team". Well, as he chuckled his teamates went silent and there faces went blank and to Brett's chagrin he turned around to see Ted standing right behind him. Needless to say ever since then they have had a strained relationship.

Again, I am not saying this rumor has any truth, making excuses, or trying to put anybody down. It is just something that made me think, and if anything else sounded like an interesting rumor. I didn't beleive my friend and would have never had posted this if I didn't find other blogs out on the world wide web referencing this exact same thing. Intrepret it any way you want, but I'm sure it will stir some emotion either which way.

Anyways, I wish the best to Brett and can only hope this unsubstantiated rumor is just that as I would be devastated to find out this is the reason Brett Frickin Favre will be donning a Jets jersey this year instead of the Green and Gold.

Who Should Be Catwoman?

Posted by Koko

Catwoman has been rumored for the next Batman movie.

After the incredible Michelle Pfeiffer performance in Batman Returns and
the horrific Halle Berry
portrayal in Catwoman, which Hollywood starlit should be cast in the role of Batman's female equivalent?

At the fantasy lottery, Juan came up with Kate Beckinsale. I'd have to strongly agree.

It was a great day for a ballgame….let’s play 2!

Posted by Keith G.

The Cobra Kai Softball team has had a tumultuous up and down season thus far as it has been a back and forth struggle with mother nature to allow us our glory of setting foot on the one place we love to be more than gators, and that is the softball diamond. Word is that Capt. Tucci and most of the team was so pumped for this past double header that after JW’s team forecast gave the go-ahead for a high probability both games would be played Friday most of the team could not even sleep the night before as we were so excited just to get back on the field.

With a change in venue the team was ready to take the field in our first of two that night and we came out focused on Defense. Mad Dog pitched an All-Star performance shutting down Top Shelf’s line-up stifling them for only 4 runs on 5 hits. But his biggest contribution was frustrating their #2 and #3 hitter by stealing not one, not two, but three line drives straight up the middle and consequently picking off the same poor bastard at first 3 times in a row. Our defense was solid all game highlighted by a hockey goalie like save by AC at first base and solid Outfield performance.

The Big Easy “E” went down in the 4th inning with a hand injury but he battled through to finish the game offensively even gutting out a hit with a bandaged hand reminiscent of the way Brett Favre battles through injuries to give the team all he has. The rain came down and our offense slowed to a stand still as we were so eager to play after being sidelined for the past few weeks we came out swinging at the first pitch we saw and made it an easy night for their Ace on the mound. “Softball isn’t about statistics; it’s about rounding second base and getting into score, plain and simple. We didn’t do that tonight and that is why we fell short” said JohnnyBlaze in the dugout after the game. “"If you dwell on statistics, you get shortsighted. If you aim for consistency, the numbers will be there at the end” DonJuan remarked as he headed to field 2 getting ready for the next game.

In between games the team discussed strategy and had some physical wrestling matches to burn off some steam after getting the adrenaline flowing for the first time in awhile. Dr. Gutierrez missed the first game but showed up in time to examine the Big Easy’s injured hand and promptly placed him on the IR and Capt. Tucci handed him the clipboard. “In this great game of softball we all have to wear different caps to help the team, and since I couldn’t be out on the field for my teammates I decided to help the best way I could and manage the team” said E before adjourning to the locker room to discuss a way to spark the team’s line-up.

The team rolled out Koko back on the mound as he has become the team’s ultimate utility player studying the dynamics of the batters box playing catcher in the first game and then pitching the second for the team. “ “Most pitchers are too smart to manage and having some time off helped me figure out my mechanics a bit more” said Koko warming up ready to take the mound again.

The Beat downs were hot just finishing up a game they scored 17 runs in and continued their hot streak to start out against us as we relinquished 11 runs to start the game off. However, we made a change in the top of the line-up to put a spark in the team and it worked. AC lead off the game with by crushing a double down the right field line and it set the pace for us as everybody hit like champions as we felt the momentum rolling in our favor posting 11 runs ourselves to start the game. AC had a hell of a game even falling a single shy of the cycle including a crushing 3 run home run over the right field wall. “We got punched in the mouth to start things off, but we didn’t back down and came back swinging as our bats woke up this game” Capt’ Tucci said.

The lady Kai’s came out to support the team and were in high spirits cheering on the team which helped heat up our hitting. However, the wet field conditions and fatigue set in and our fielding started to falter a bit and we couldn’t get back on track relinquishing 23 runs proving to be too large of a deficit to overcome even with our offense running on all cylinders. “Baseball is ninety percent mental, the other half is physical and we came up just short on both accounts” DonJuan said after game. “The team had an offensive explosion in game 2 but we could not couple that with a great defensive effort like we had in game 1 to make a complete game. “We have a great team here, we just got to figure out a way to have the great defensive team show up at the same time as the great offensive team, that is the key. Once we figure that out we will be back on track” Roundhouse Reger said at the post game conference.

“Problems are the price you pay for progress, and Man may penetrate the outer reaches of the universe, he may solve the very secret of eternity itself, but for me, the ultimate human experience is to witness the Cobra Kai realize their full potential and show RedBug Lake our true greatness” Capt. Tucci said after the game as he was already game planning for our showdown this week with 1st place rival Bet on Black.

The great thing about our league is that it doesn’t matter what happened the game before, we got another one this Friday” the X-Man Xavy said as he left the field. The team looks for redemption and this is the perfect opportunity this Friday as we take on Bet on Black at 6:30 under the Friday night lights.

The New Cathedral

A cousin of my parents friends is on the job in the Bronx. He sent them these pictures.

The facade now runs around the entire stadium like it did back in the days of Mantle and Marris.

Let The Games Begin..........

Posted by Keith G.

Hey, did anybody notice the 2008 Olmpiad games start on Friday? Has the Olympics really fallen this far down the chain? Well, to get you in the mood for the olypmics and to get you to stop doing "mock" drafts in anticipation of our fantasy football drafts here is a little Olympic fodder to get your ready for 8-8-08!!!!!

Here is a clip from one of my personal favorite Olympic memories. Ahhhh....the Dan and Dave competition that never came to fruition because Dan never qualified....or was it Dave? Ahhh I can't remember, but I do remember this as one of the most memorable ad campaigns to ever hit the airwaves. Who will come out with this years memorable campaign? For some reason my favorite ad out there now is the "Migration" one with all the football players stopping what there doing and migrating to camp and that mesmerizing music is playing.........Eli does a great Acting job.

We all know the basketball team will be a great watch as they actually have to play hard to try and win the gold as the competition is pretty stiff these days. Michael Phelps breaking records should get a lot of press and Dara Torres competing in another olympics...did you know she competed in the 88 Olympics in LA??????

After researching the Olympics to see if I could get myself or others in the mood for the Games here is some interesting stuff I'm sure Bob Costas will be shoving down our throats come Friday:

> Badminton player Raju Rai is "everybody's best friend." "He's someone you can go to. You can talk to him about anything," says doubles partner Bob Malaythong.

> Archer Jennifer Nichols can quote one verse from The Bible verbatim.

>Badminton player Howard Bach played a badminton player in that VitaminWater commercial. It was considered controversial in the badminton community.

> Diver Jevon Tarantino is a roofer; other divers wonder how he has time for everything.

And some bonus ancient Chinese remedies that are catching fire for some Olympians:

-Deer Penis: Has been used to aid athletic recovery.
-Gecko Tonic: The tail and the backbone of the lizard, which inhabits southern China, is used for strength and endurance.
-Bear Bile: Used as an anti-spasmodic and is also seen as a natural painkiller

Well, there you have it....if this doesn't get you in the Mood for the 29th Olympic games....."One World...One Dream" I don't know what will. Go USA!!!!

The Prodigal Son Returns...........

Posted by Keith G.

After the most heralded story in professional sports the past decade the verdict looks like it is finally in.......The Green Bay Packers will welcome Brett Favre back for his 17th NFL season.

For all the debaters, bloggers, ESPN Columnists, and Radio hosts this situation just made their summer. But when it's all said and done the Packers and Favre have come to the only conclusion that made sense and one that I always felt they would do. Hold a "Wink" Wink" Open competition for starting QB.

Last season, Favre threw for more than 4,000 yards, completed a career-best 66.5 percent of his passes, was second in the league's MVP voting, helped lead the Packers to the NFC Championship Game and oversaw an offense that produced the third-highest point total and net yards in franchise history and lost to a Lucky Giants team that didn't deserve to win. Aaron Rodgers did get to watch all this and looked decent in the Cowboys game until he got hurt. But, this is obviously not going to be much of a showdown even though Brett spotted him 9 practices and some off season conditioning.

Well, we can finally turn the page and lay this story to rest and look forward to a Packers Championship season with Brett Favre under center. What's that the open competition officially starts Wednesday. Well, back up your media vans and let the new debate of 08 began....Brett or A-Rodge?????? I guess the circus continues and Green Bay will continue to pay ESPN's bills.
